Derby Draw Drops Wanderers To 8th

Recommended Posts

A scoreless draw in Sydney kept the Wanderers out of the top 6.

It was another case of same old same old in attack, slightly made up for by the keeping of the first clean sheet this season for the Wanderers, in a game which was far from a dour 0-0 but still lacked true class for either team up front.

In another case of same old same old, referee Peter Green managed to do what should have been impossible, missing a clear handball from Michael Zullo despite having a clear line of sight & within 10 meters of the incident. Green waved away the clear penalty, which increases the amount of gifts & favours Sydney FC have received this season from the FFA's inept referees. To top off the ineptitude Green didn't even see the clear deflection, and he incredulously awarded Sydney FC a goal kick.

The Wanderers arguably had the better of the game, but did nothing of note with it. Everytime the Wanderers threatened to get in behind the Sydney FC defence, they turned heel & lazily passed the ball backwards & sidelines before inevitably losing it, or taking a shot with little hope of scoring. Jaushua Sotirio had one good chance after being played through on goal, only to see his attempt to round the keeper blocked.

Wellington defeated the Central Coast Mariners earlier in the day, and their victory saw the Wanderers drop down to 8th position on goal difference.

in the context of a single match i am happy with the result somewhat but in the context of a cross town rivalry **** that anything but a win is a load of **** at this point

**** off peter green i called it that there would be an incident which the ref ****ed up which would cost us points and it ******* happened

Just so i have got my facts right.... peter green was the bloke who faster than the speed of sound called that handball penalty against pollenz in the S1 GF vs Mariners but failed to give us a pen in the S2 GF against roar for the same thing? Now he has come back to f-uck us all for a 3rd time?? Terrible call and spineless to not send off grant for a second bookable offence.

As a team on top of the table with the best attack in the league and unbeatable, ESFC should have come at us and finished us off. But they couldn't. This is something to build on in the coming weeks. We just need to play a striker who scores goals. Kids won't do it for us.

we would have ******* destroyed them if we had Santa tonight

We could just template the headline Wanderers Dominate but Draw. Sure there were and always are positives ala Vedran but secrets out we have no striker. Feels like a loss because we were so much better and I ain't buying that would have settled for a draw pre game lame excuse.

Gutsy performance with every reason to feel a bit dudded about not getting the rub of the Greene (actually, that should read punch on with Greene). We had no real ability to cut through up front and at times our midfield was as wobbly as fook. Dimas reminded me of Mile Jedinak...plenty of huffing and puffing but nothing to show for it.

Vedran was very good but our back four were all better than we may have expected. Aspro was a stand out, and Neville the Nutmegger was strong too.

And if folk didn't already know, Tara Reid confirmed on Foxtel that the RBB out-sung the Cove.

Well done all who went!

Vedran has made a difference. His handling of the cove was excellent. Never looked rattled; and we never really looked like finishing a chance.

If you're not playing a striker, you have to do something different than asking a small winger to play as a 9. Jumpei can't make those runs and is too small to hold up the ball.

I and many others suggested that Nico play up top as a false nine but too outside of the box for Popa. In some ways Majok would have been worth a punt but Hamilton on to look after Cornflakes must have been a necessary.

A-league refs are a bigger joke than that cove tifo, blind c*** it was a clear handball and corner cost us 3 points.

Best part of the night was seeing the loud mouth smurf in our bay get bitch slapped in the face at half time and not returning :woah:

Good solid performance but toothless in the box and some poor service with the usual crappy crosses and a decent striker wouldn't of made much difference.

Take a draw but fuming over that handball.

Sotirio mom for me with Vedran second with that save and presence around the box in defense.

Back four and Vedran were great. Not always in position but scrambled so well and looked solid. The version of Cornthwaite that played NT and got a gig in Asia seems to have returned. But let's be honest, we could still be playing now and not have scored. Zero goal threat. A striker is just a necessity. Sounds like a broken record.
