lol thanks

 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skeeter_syndrome

Which makes sense as I get hay-fever really bad, my body goes in to overdrive big time against pollen and same with mozzie bites. I showed a doc a mozzie bite on the back of my arm once and she couldn't believe a single mozzie bite would make my whole ******* arm swell up so much and also make it really painful at the joint... I also sometimes feel sick and lethargic after being bitten..... its a bastard...

One single mozzie bite can have a circle of red around it and swell up as much as a dinner plate...which is the current state of my arse....my wife and son think it is ******* hilarious of course

So, situation normal eh?

I took my dad, who has colon cancer to see the specialist for his regular injection which puts the cancer to sleep. The problem was that when we arrived a sign on the door said they were closed for holidays untill the 14th Jan.......yet the card with his appointment time and date said the 7th......idiots......what a waste of a morning.:nono:

I'm up the coast...near Port Macquarie atm.

That doesn't grind my gears, of course.

WRGMG is that, for the whole time I've been here, the water has been freezing!!! and it's been really windy..

Actually...I'm not sure whether what grinds my gears more is the cold water and the blustery conditions...or the fact that I'm sooo old, I grumble about that now.

Summer used to be more enjoyable.

Sigh.

The water hear never seems cold to me after growing up near the north sea. When i was around 8 i had these ridiculous swimming trunks and the old man would be stood behind me with his trousers rolled up, smoking a ciggie whilst i stood there shivering with him asking me if i was 'ever going to get in...waste of ******* time coming if your not going in' I think my testicles were a few years late dropping because of that cold north sea at Scarborough...

I got my own back though because on one holiday whilst asleep in his deckchair i threw a bucket of cold sea water over him.....he kicked my arse but it was worth it...

The water up in QLD was glorious..a few blue bottles final day mind...my son was running around with one on the end of a stick...

Did not try to swim when I visited my Dad's home town ...near your UK neck of the woods...but I did swim in Cornwall.

Well...I did endure the TORTURE of standing in waste high water for 10 mins.. trying to motivate myself to fully plunge in.

Did it mention that it was torture...it was so COLD!!!!!!!!

And two young women near me were saying that it wasn't as cold as the previous day. LOL.

I did get sunburnt though. That was even more ridiculous! But I WAS there during a 4 day heatwave...of 27 degrees each day!

Lol!

Port (as the locals where I am call it) is nice.

I'm actually about 40 mins South of there...at a little place that's also nice. But quiet compared to Port.

I know the Lauireton area pretty well as have stayed up that way a good few times...walked up that big hill behind Lauireton...beautiful up there. Usually is windy there when i go...

If you get the chance to get up Hervey Bay and Fraser island way well worth the extra effort...stunning and the water is warm...

I've been coming up here for decades...my late aunt lived here since the  60s and my brother and sister both have places here.

PS That "hill" is a mountain...by Australian standards. ;)

PPS Manfred knows and approves of the pie shop here...a slight detour from his Pacific Pieway...apparently.

I too, have also spent many a holiday at Dunbogan, near Laurieton.

I remember one year, the family spent a summer holiday week first at our little place in Kalkite, on the northern shores of Lake Jindabyne, and we swam in the lake every single day. It was gloriously warm, fresh water and so clear.

Then, the 2nd week we went to Dunbogan for a beach holiday, and the water was absolutely freezing. I hardly went in at all.

Ridiculous.

Yeah..solar heating of a lake would be pretty good in this country, around the edges at least. Whereas with the ocean you are at the mercy of upwelling, currents and even some winds push cold water closer to the coast. You can have a stinking hot day and yet the water be freezing and also in winter you can on occasions get warm sea water at the beach....

Haha, yep. And you know I know these things eh!!

At Jindabyne, if I swam out to where I couldn't touch the bottom, the water at my feet was far colder than the surface water. Gotta remember that in summer, the lake is full of snow melt. The surface warms up nicely though.

The constant north easterlies over the past month have indeed been responsible for the upwelling and colder sea temps along the NSW coast.

My son wants to take up ice skating   He went with a friend this weekend and now he wants to do it...he wants a lesson... And he wants me to have a go with him...

As a loving father you owe it to your son, but more so to all of us on here so we can revel in the inevitable amusing anecdote about how shite it was.
