Wanderers pre-season games 2017/18

Recommended Posts

Ok, these are the rules.

Don't ask multiple questions, don't ask about upcoming 'behind closed doors' trial games, do your own research, google is your friend.

Lets see how long this lasts.

                    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following match report was forwarded to me by a reliable source, whom I trust to be reasonably accurate. You're only receiving this summary, coz I like you'se all, well some of you at least & details of the result have already been posted on twitter, by an individual residing in Quakers Hill last night.

Short match report from trial v's Blacktown City.

Result 2 - 0 win. Formation 4 - 2 - 3 -1. Goals - Bonevacia 18 min & Cimenti (pen) 45min

1st half. Vedran, Risdon, Cornthwaite, Hammill, Clisby, Baccus, Lustica, Roly #10, Majok, Santa & Jumpei.

Roly & Baccus were very good.

2nd half. Hall, Jordan Hall (RB), Aspro, Thwaite, Baccus Jnr (LB), Herd, Maia, Lecce, Sotirio, Scott, Cimenti.

Jaushua won a pen after about 10 mins & Kyle slotted it home. Lecce, Cimenti & Baccus were replaced midway through half by Melling, Vaggiani & Constable.

Thwaite stood out in 2nd half. Maia & Lecce did well. Herd was at his agricultural best. Melling rusty as.

Overall a good 70 min hitout (2 x 35 halves). Blacktown played what appeared to be a full strength squad, making 4 changes after about 15 mins of 2nd half, but they didn't offer much in attack

Herd played Jaushua through on goal (which he should have converted) with a nice ball, but other than that he was getting acquainted with our system. He lost the ball at one stage & had a brainsnap & lunged into a challenge studs up. It was bad & deserved a slice of cheese.

Roly was a class above tonight. Some of his touches were brilliant & he enjoyed playing at #10. Roly & Kearyn already have a good understanding. Lustica was ok at DM

Thwaite was classy on the ball & looked comfortable. He will press for a starting CB role before long.

Next training game is scheduled for Tuesday v's Olyroos squad.

Watched the game with 50 or so in the stand. Maybe you source watched it from the car.

Herd played like a lumberjack

Majok and Melling were terrible and definately the two worst on the field.

As far as keiran goes i think his understanding with the blacktown forward was far better than with roly. His pass to him was brilliant only for the forward to stuff it up.

Lustica was far more impressive as the number 8 DM playing behind roly as the no10. Comfortable on the ball.

Roly have to agree.

Thwaite also did well without being tested.

roly 3 lustica 2 thwaite 1.

show this to your source.

Will do Golgol.

Other than the use of terminology ie: Herd agricultural or lumberjack, Melling worst on field or rusty as (he's been out for 9 months with a stress fracture in his back), the 2 summaries appear to be similar in overall perspective, despite their brief nature.

The fact that some players may have hit an errant pass, under performed or looked out of their depth weren't mentioned (Majok), isn't a surprise, negativity isn't usually his thing. It probably explains why he didn't mention the absence of Borda.

Overall my source was encouraged by the squads 1st hitout for the season.

Good 1st post, welcome to the forum.

Shepparton will host a pre-season friendly between A-League clubs Melbourne City and Western Sydney Wanderers later this year.

The game will played in September at McEwen Reserve and will help launch the new 500-seat grandstand.

It will be the second time City, formerly Melbourne Heart, has played in Shepparton, after squaring off against the GNEFA All Stars in 2013.

More in tomorrow’s edition of The News.

Any preseason games this week? I googled, found nothing..

Not that I'm aware of.

Difficult to arrange trials against NPL1 competition, when you can't offer the opponent an earn through the turnstiles, as you require games to be played behind closed doors, due to potentially 'unsociable' behaviour of your fans.

Best we can expect this week, is an Intraclub trial

I'm getting mail about a game tomorrow night.

Awaiting further info before I mention anything, as it won't suit most WSW fans & there may be conditions of entry in place.

Did this eventuate or should I just watch the FFA cup tonight?
