Popular Post Wanderboy
37 minutes ago, mack said: The sad thing is I knew the guy was going to get smeared the moment it started getting traction. NSW Police are following the USA textbook, just that in the US it's usually only done after they murder someone or get someone seriously hurt or killed because of their mistakes. In Australia it's normally used for working class people who managed to upset certain politicians (eg Duncan Storrar who was destroyed by the Murdoch media for daring to ask a question on Q&A) or Aboriginal people who have no way to fight back against the system, eg the children detailed at Don Dale in the NT such as Dylan Voller or Tom Hickey whose death was the catalyst for the Redfern Riot in 2004. Immediately attack the victim, leak to friendly media, lie about the circumstances and use language that downplays the role of the Police in causing the problem. DARVO. Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim & Offender. Attacked the victim by smearing in the media. First thing is go to Ray Hadley. "He was drunk", "He only wanted different beer", "He never had access to that area previously", "He assaulted a security officer" and in the last half-hour, "was banned from ANZ 2 years ago" as if that matters in this situation. Then the Assistant Commissioner comes out lies on camera while repeatedly saying he doesn't know what actually happened, just spouting off misinformation directly from the officers/security involved without having bothered to investigate the issue. Of course, nothing will happen. Just like nothing happened after the Pepper Spray incident at Parramatta. Why would anything happen? The state just voted back in the corrupt police & nanny state loving party who approve of these "tough on crime" methods. It's the FFA that need to be dealing with this, but as usual, they will do nothing because this incident is a result of a match under their control. It appears (via current information provided) that Rory has had accessibility to this particular disabled accessible bathroom all season while the ground has been under the control of ESFC. It makes sense. Once we get to a finals game and the FFA have control, it all turns to ****. They put in draconian controls and the seccos and cops are under instruction to enforce without restriction. It's just bewildering that we have arrived in a day and age where a person just cannot ask to go and check out a disabled toilet facility before he takes his daughter there to use. Then, it turns into this **** fight, not only at the ground itself, but all over all forms of social and electronic media. (Yes Hadley, I'm ******* looking at you!). It just sickens me. The FFA will do nothing. Pure and simple. Some of the board members may huff and puff a little, but they will NOT come out in support of this family and challenge the NSW policing nor the media. I listened to an interview on 702 this morning with an "unofficial spokesman" from The Cove. He was brilliant, and fought the fight we have all been arguing for years. Yet Wendy Harmer and Robbie Buck just didn't get it. https://www.abc.net.au/radio/sydney/programs/breakfast/breakfast/11085772 It's towards the end of the show, so about 1 hr.30 in. It just saddens me, that after so many good years, with the initial introduction of our club and the lift it gave to the league and crowds in particular, that Gallop and his cronies have let it come to this. And they cry poor, now that the money is not pouring into the game and active support has all but been desecrated. The reason, you ****-knuckles that the game was riding high before WAS DUE TO PROPER ACTIVE SUPPORT! Thanks for destroying it. You wanted family friendly as well, and now you are destroying that. **** me!! Edited May 13, 2019 by Wanderboy Prydzopolis, matty, Bones and 19 others 22 Link to post

You just have to love their use of the word 'violence". Clearly, Rory was a massive threat to security and the police. In the meantime, there's another massive brawl at an AFL game this weekend, but guess which sport is getting the negative media? Must say I thought he got a decent hearing. Have to remember that the ABC is always under accusation of bias these days and I think the presenters often play devil’s advocate to ensure they can’t be accused of siding with one opinion over another (not something the 2GB/Terrorgraph hacks ever concern themselves with!!!) Having said that I know that Wendy Harmer is one of that rare breed - a former Victorian who follows rugby league and is a passionate Manly supporter, so I guess she may have had an agenda but I didn’t really think so. Redwog
For all the nonsense that Australia has a larrikin culture that like to stick it to the man, the reality is we are a subservient over regulated bunch. We kick up little fuss and as a general rule accept massive state overreach as a matter of course. Both sides of the political spectrum have their own ways of cultivating an acceptant ideology. When the story broke and was a lead on many online outlets, I was optimistic, but the narrative has been established by the powers that be, it's now about defending against character assassination. Truly disgraceful. Ossified, theguyyouwishyouwere, 102megan and 10 others 13 Link to post

For those of you who do not understand the situation, he has a special needs daughter & unless you are in the care for a child in a similar situation you may not understand. Hope this sheds some further light for you... He was not in the wrong, his intentions were misunderstood. Instead of common sense applied, a understanding of the fathers situation with his special needs daughter & a deescalation by both security and police using best practices when it comes to crowd control, the opposite happened. This is why we find ourselves in this situation with the fallout more than justified. This guilty until proven innocent approach is now doubled down by all parties involved especially security, the council, certain media outlets & nsw police as witnessed in the assistant commissioner’s presser. This happening whilst the FFA taking a passive approach to the situation, one that requires great leadership in fighting years & years of this ingrained attitude towards football & its crowds. sonar, Edinburgh, EmMac and 5 others 8 Link to post
