Police, Security & Supporter Discussion Part 2

Recommended Posts

He was in the wrong because his ticket didn't permit him to go there but this is where common sense should come in and the authorities showed none. We have seen this time and time again at SOP and unfortunately we are used to it but this is a first for the Smurfs.

I messaged George’s River Council who were responsible for security on the plus side I got a response

I cannot like this post for obvious reasons. You just have to love their use of the word 'violence".

Clearly, Rory was a massive threat to security and the police.

In the meantime, there's another massive brawl at an AFL game this weekend, but guess which sport is getting the negative media?

I listened to an interview on 702 this morning with an "unofficial spokesman" from The Cove. He was brilliant, and fought the fight we have all been arguing for years. Yet Wendy Harmer and Robbie Buck just didn't get it.

Totally agree , he was great but Wendy was very dismissive. Nothing new pity they don't realise we got that at every home game, even with a 7000 crowd in an 80,000 stadium.

It's the FFA that need to be dealing with this, but as usual, they will do nothing because this incident is a result of a match under their control.

It appears (via current information provided) that Rory has had accessibility to this particular disabled accessible  bathroom all season while the ground has been under the control of ESFC. It makes sense.

Once we get to a finals game and the FFA have control, it all turns to ****. They put in draconian controls and the seccos and cops are under instruction to enforce without restriction.

It's just bewildering that we have arrived in a day and age where a person just cannot ask to go and check out a disabled toilet facility before he takes his daughter there to use. Then, it turns into this **** fight, not only at the ground itself, but all over all forms of social and electronic media. (Yes Hadley, I'm ******* looking at you!). It just sickens me.

The FFA will do nothing. Pure and simple. Some of the board members may huff and puff a little, but they will NOT come out in support of this family and challenge the NSW policing nor the media.

https://www.abc.net.au/radio/sydney/programs/breakfast/breakfast/11085772

It's towards the end of the show, so about 1 hr.30 in.

It just saddens me, that after so many good years, with the initial introduction of our club and the lift it gave to the league and crowds in particular, that Gallop and his cronies have let it come to this. And they cry poor, now that the money is not pouring into the game and active support has all but been desecrated.

The reason, you ****-knuckles that the game was riding high before WAS DUE TO PROPER ACTIVE SUPPORT!

Thanks for destroying it. You wanted family friendly as well, and now you are destroying that.

**** me!!

I heard the Cove bloke on 702 as well and again I thought he did a great job. Must say I thought he got a decent hearing. Have to remember that the ABC is always under accusation of bias these days and I think the presenters often play devil’s advocate to ensure they can’t be accused of siding with one opinion over another (not something the 2GB/Terrorgraph hacks ever concern themselves with!!!) Having said that I know that Wendy Harmer is one of that rare breed - a former Victorian who follows rugby league and is a passionate Manly supporter, so I guess she may have had an agenda but I didn’t really think so.

Hamer is dismissive of anything not anglo-saxon or not north shore/eastern suburbs.

Been listening for a long time and she always comes across as an undertoned racist. oi oi oi

They start talking about the incident at 2 hours 15 min in.

The guy from the Cove speaks to them at 2 hours 23 mins.

He probably didn't even think to ask. He has been using these toilets week to week with no issues and suddenly someone is trying to stop him for no reason at all. You wouldn't even think to stop, just push through and all of a sudden some secco thinks your being belligerent. It just astounds me how many people in the police and the media can't connect the dots and are actually doubling down on this guy. They actually want to character assassinate a family guy who has a disabled daughter. You can't make this stuff up.

For all the nonsense that Australia has a larrikin culture that like to stick it to the man, the reality is we are a subservient over regulated bunch. We kick up little fuss and as a general rule accept massive state overreach as a matter of course. Both sides of the political spectrum have their own ways of cultivating an acceptant ideology.

When the story broke and was a lead on many online outlets, I was optimistic, but the narrative has been established by the powers that be, it's now about defending against character assassination. Truly disgraceful.

For those of you who do not understand the situation, he has a special needs daughter & unless you are in the care for a child in a similar situation you may not understand. Hope this sheds some further light for you...

He was not in the wrong, his intentions were misunderstood. Instead of common sense applied, a understanding of the fathers situation with his special needs daughter & a deescalation by both security and police using best practices when it comes to crowd control, the opposite happened. This is why we find ourselves in this situation with the fallout more than justified.

This guilty until proven innocent approach is now doubled down by all parties involved especially security, the council, certain media outlets & nsw police as witnessed in the assistant commissioner’s presser. This happening whilst the FFA taking a passive approach to the situation, one that requires great leadership in fighting years & years of this ingrained attitude towards football & its crowds.

They will have followed him to McDonalds to try and get something on him. Watch him and see what he is up to, anything no matter how small, to justify their actions.

Just as well he didnt have a broken car light....or low treads on his tyres.

The prick committed a seating protocol violation isn’t that enough, hanging is too good for him

As for the disabled girl wanting to use the toilet it’s political correctness gone mad

On one hand the FFA approach is partly understandable, work in the back channels & hope over time that attitudes change. How is this approach working?

Will kicking the bee hive achieve anything? Better than much of what they’ve achieved over the last 4-8 years

The FFA can kick the bee hive all they like.

The only people getting stung are the fans.

Bozza has his say, correctly.

When will Gallop come out in support? When hell freezes over.

Calling for meetings with the police is a waste of time. Any such meeting is more than likely to start with "We know what you pricks are like. We'll treat you the way we want to. Like it or lump it. Now what do you want to talk about?"

It was a little tongue in cheek....lol....... but there has to come a point where enough is enough and fans fight back. This crap gets repeated year in year out and the only real support we have is each other.
