World Cup 2018

The NPL2 men’s game is still scheduled for a 7:00pm start.

this means that the Roos game starts while NPL2 men’s game is still running.

FYI I bought the 2015 socceroos jersey (which is my favourite so far) for $40 from rebel. It's subtle, and you could almost convince her its a non-specific australian sport themed top.

A few factors...

Memories of the kickings English fans took in Marseilles in 2016 at the hands of the Russian hools. This wasn't some drunken idiots chucking a few plastic chairs around and fronting up. It was fully tooled up, savage and organised Russian violence. Due to England's 'reputation' they are seen as the benchmark for any aspiring idiots to take on...an easy target..also a good chance the England fans will get the blame. England fans expect trouble and so many are keeping away.

The feeling going in to this world cup for England is like no other I can remember. There is no hype or expectation as for once everyone seems to understand it is a very young and inexperienced side that will not challenge to win the thing. Usually there is stupid hype and unrealistic expectations in the papers, this time there is non of that. It is all a bit 'meh' really.

Sounds like the perfect opportunity for Australian Ultras to kick the crap out of the Russians and establish ourselves as the worst of the worst heh (yes I know there is no such thing).

I did read a comment the other day that the UK should bid for the next WC and hold all Russian matches at The Den.

At our morning staff meeting this morning...I reminded my colleagues that it wasn't too soon to dust off their Socceroos scarves and other green and gold items.

Apart from a ripple of amusement ....and a response from our (female) Maths Head Teacher...whose usual football colour is Sky Blue...there wasn't much of a reaction.

Sigh.

In the past, there have been green and gold flags about ...on cars etc by now, but I'm not seeing anything of that nature in my part of Sydney.

Not much of a buzz about, is there?  :(

Wait until we beat France 4-0 Wendy.

There'll be Socceroos flags all over the country.

Don't worry there are approximately 60 k plus Brazilians heading to Russia so don't think the Russians will wanna come out to play but at my nephews school they are doing a class country bet so each class gets a country from the World Cup and if they win they get a reward

Opening game will have a familiar face to us. The referee is Nestor Pintana. He officiated at the last intercontinental playoff at ANZ between Australia and Honduras.

Hierro new Spain coach.

Their team is so experienced they hardly need coaching. They should just let Iniesta tell them all what to do.

How could they overlook Gombau? They surely have to consider "Big Sam Araldici"

Well she has got a national team jersey (of a different code) which is more than i have. I have efused to pay $120 for a jersey where 100% of the profits go to the FFA

Sorry to those of you of Italian heritage....but  for a REALLY forgiving person....I'll never get over 2006.

Optus' pre-match studio coverage is dreadful. Okon has the charisma of a wooden chair with a broken leg, Mel still hasn't improved since she left fox sports and keeps interrupting people and making weird tangents, and they all keep tripping over each other's words.
