Missed the game but WTF !.....I didn't think the A league refs were at the Asian Cup.....lol.....is there no VAR at this tournament....?

Fell asleep...but watched the game in fast forward before heading off to bed at 4 am. 

So can't say anything about anything much except... two of the goals were crackers, which hopefully might inspire some confidence in the team...

Oh ...and...what a quality young man Awer Mabil is (just watched his post game interview on the News). I hope he is around for a long time to become an inspirational Aussie footballer for the NT, a general household name and beacon of positivity and inspiration for  other young Australians like him (and in general).

So an unconvincing performance by Australia, an abysmal performance by the referee and today I read in the SBS match report that Rogic's winning left foot strike was hit with his right foot. And of course, instead of calling a spade a spade, the Syrian penalty was for "appearing" to trip over a teammate. So a media fail as well (of course).

Yeah I read the report and then watched the highlights video and had to check I wasn't watching an old qualifier video or something.

Geez defending for Syria's first goal looked like park football defending. But two cracking goals from Mabil and Rogic, should have been more when we were 2-1 up again did enough to get through.

Unpopular opinion I wouldn't mind getting Japan in the next round they aren't playing well either probably the best time to face them.

You might be right, from what I've seen of Japan's matches they flatter to deceive. Look good with possession and movement but ultimately just scrape through.

But maybe they are applying the old Italy tournament strategy and will get to the final and win it with brilliance. 

We can only hope that is Australia's strategy and that it proves successful.
