Is it that these people have such empty, boring lives that they have to attach themselves to these groups to give themselves  something to believe in/ to spice up their dull lives?

Should also mention that some of the Republican voters looked past the buffoonery and decided that “Christian” (very loose there) conservative values were needed on judiciaries or perhaps even tax cuts and lower regulation

Perhaps they were owners of businesses who got set alight during BLM protests or are angry at their Democrat governors for apparently not being tough enough for BLM protesters or whatever

I’ve seen some say they’ll vote Republican because of this identity politics and affirmative action plans they don’t agree with

Others say they like Republican because they are tough on China and brave to speak their mind

Complex issues at play

Trumps judge appointments are going to be his only real legacy barring some disaster where an even further right maga grifter becomes president. Getting 3 Supreme Court appointments, and filling them with outrageously hard-right anti-freedom Christian dominionists will cause so many problems for even a milquetoast centrist neoliberal like Biden.

Just read a rather large article on the US...

These two little bits stood out ....

One

American democracy came to the brink of failure not through external attack but through bitter internal division. Hate fuelled by racism on the right and identity politics on the left has ripped the US apart – all cheered on by Russia and enabled by “social” media.

Two

Trump has left office, the problem is solved, right? No. If America can elect one Donald Trump, it can elect another.

Just wondering what constitutes 'elite' these days....

How many hours have you got?

There would previously have been a few here who'd have given you a comprehensive answer.

But it is an interesting question, isn't it. :good:

It’s easier to answer who isn’t an elite because apparently the previous US president who is a billionaire, hired his family in the government, gave tax cuts to the rich, built a wall on the southern border to keep out the brown people, who called the Charlottesville racists, “good people” , tear gassed his own citizens for a photo op and who golfed away his presidency.....is definitely not an elite!
