GunnerWanderer
The result is a disaster for us because the performance was good, even in the second half,” he said. “If you watched the three goals, the first goal was a mistake from us, an easy mistake that cannot happen at this level. The second goal you have to accept this, a top free kick, the penalty, to be fair for me wasn’t a penalty. I am on holidays didn’t see the game but from what I read here and what’sApp from Mates the second half wasn’t good so either Babel is slight confused, ignorant and dishonest with the media. The reality is they scored 3 and we scored zero his only correct statement is that is was a disaster EmMac, sonar and andypk 3 Link to comment

luisenrique
I don't see what he's said that's wrong there. He admitted the first goal was a mistake, and he's right in his descriptions about the other two goals as well. In the whole interview he says that we were better in the first half, but also that if you don't take your chances then you will lose, both of which are true. EmMac
The difference is that they converted their chances and we didn't. 'Nearly scored' will not get us to the top of the table. We have to score in those situations I don't know yet which it is, lack of talent or mental fitness as to why we're not scoring. Probably both. Mental fitness we can fix, lack of talent we can't unless we offload the dross. andypk, Tranquilo, Smoggy and 5 others 8 Link to comment
Posthoc
God there are some drama queens amongst the supporters of this club. Take a chill pill people. Yes we lost, it happens. I love the calls for the Pollaks and La Roca's etc. Jesus people we have moved on because the league has moved on. We have two young DM and first half they played a cracker, stealing balls left right and center, FC having to go long to try and get through. We should have been 2 up, that changes the game 1 up changes it as well. That fact is it is still preseason. I have no idea why our club breeds such drama queens in the fan base. We are from Western Sydney I thought we were tougher than that Carns, MeurantsLane, theguyyouwishyouwere and 9 others 11 1 Link to comment

We are from Western Sydney I thought we were tougher than that Its just fatigue setting in. We have had 3 hard going seasons now. Everyone is fed up with SoP, attendance numbers down, fans hassled in the stands and outside the stadiums as well as in the media, we have not improved the quality of the squad and have bought poorly compared to our rivals, the quality and entertainment just hasn't been there and we have been running on blind loyalty and the new stadium on the horizon dregs for too long. Added to that we have been turned over by our city rivals numerous times to be forgiven easily. What made WSW was the togetherness and fight we showed on the pitch and that linked in with the stands, we lost that a while back and the WSW teams of the last few years have lost that 'Western Sydney tough fighting spirit' rather than the fans. We are still hanging in there, we need to see the club and team fight back and give us something to work with. The new stadium is well on its way thank god...it has kept me going lol If we get turned over again at the SCG later this month (a real possibility lets face it) it will probably turn nasty again. We have a hard start and don't have a proper home game for ages ffs, we are up against it for sure. Edited October 7, 2018 by Smoggy lloydy136, MeurantsLane, jockman and 15 others 18 Link to comment

I actually think the media want to see WSW much more competitive this year. It does nothing for the game, TV interest, fan attendance when it is so lopsided all the time. I notice Slats pre game did go for ESFC but wanted a close game and that seem to be what was wanted more than anything. I sensed frustration from the pundits that it was 3-0. ESFC don't have the fan numbers to hold up a reasonable attendance for all their bullshyte, it will take a return to competitive derby games to reignite interest and get people back in to it and through the turnstiles also. WSWJACK
okay then, game over we lost heavy sigh, what are the positives to take forward, because there always positives ! i'll be there in three weeks expecting a massive upset, I believe goals will come, I believe we will come good on that night, I have faith in Riera is going take every chance that comes his way that night ! Come on we are bottom of the wheel at 6 o'clock , the wheel turns for everyone, it's turning slowly at the moment but it is on the way up....think positive and positive things will happen. Unlimited
Was going to stream the game but had dinner at a friends house and only remembered about the game at 10.30 Decided to check the score - was initially shocked, because I thought and hoped it would be close. Then, I remembered that we’ve sucked for several seasons now and I was like “Ah that explains it” GunnerWanderer, EmMac, sonar and 2 others 5 Link to comment
Sithslayer1991
I already posted on the Babbel coach thread but I will post here too. Babbel must figure out the CB and DM position. Controlled the first half because we were playing around the Sydney midfield and made them run and make mistakes. 2nd half they launched long and it became a battle of 50/50s that we lost. Grozos is very good technically but needs to read the game better in that position which I understand because he is more of an attacking Midfielder, Baccus Jr on the other hand I mean geez he has the ability he reads the game well however whenever things go wrong for him he gets too aggro and starts to make mistakes especially with his tackling and passing. They both need experience next to them but that DM position is currently our Achilles heel. LetsPele and wendybr 2 Link to comment

My thinking is that you can put up with either terrible performances on the field OR shabby treatment from your club/security etc but not many fans can survive both. I can understand anyone being down about this result even though at the end of the day it's a glorified preseason game. Wanderboy, sonar, EmMac and 5 others 8 Link to comment
