Babbel out?

  1. 1. In your opinion:

    • Does Babbel deserve another season to clear out some players, rebuild the squad and impart his "mentality"?
      119
    • Do we cut out losses (either at the end of the season or asap) and start the search again?

its more the fact that we are part way through the season

It would be excruciating if the rest of the season was like the first 1/3!

Winning or not, we have mostly looked dead ordinary.

There aren't any.

There's none right now. January might be a different story.

We had 3 opportunities to obtain a CAM, foreign or local. We only took 1 opportunity.
1) Sign a local CAM preseason - Missed
2) Sign a foreign CAM preseason - Hit, then injured
3) Sign a foreign replacement - Missed

Agree 100% with Lloydy and was coming here to post the same thing. I think Babel is an excellent manager though perhaps overestimates the quality of the majority of his squad to execute the technicalities and intricacies of his system. This isn’t entirely a bad thing though particularly for player development but will need to be adapted to suit the players.

I am still far, far away from agreeing that he should be sacked though. I can’t believe the discussion is even being had. If he is sacked, we will be a laughing stock and with that become one of those rabble clubs that jumps from manager to manager with little regard for the bigger picture. That’s when things will really turn to ****.

Perhaps Babel needs to have a look at Ange, Arnie and Muscat - 3 of the greatest aleague managers, all aussies who understand the uniqueness of the aleague environment and how to ‘play the game’?

I’ve been a staunch defender of Lederer but if it’s true he’s considering or does sack him, that will change. Very disappointing if correct.

I reckon that's a bit of a cop out. He's had 18 months to study the league, bring in his own players, formations etc. etc., if he still overestimates the quality of his squad, that's on him not the players. If he can't adapt his managing to suit his squad or moreso to be effective in this league, once again that's on him.

I also do think for one second his instructions/formations/tactics would be too technical for the players, it seems to be a line trotted out whenever there is pressure on him. It's like we have an inferior complex just because we/most players are Australian. These guys are professional athletes, professional footballers.

I've been somewhat unimpressed from the start.

AND......I definitely don't like the hat!

Changing the coach, will not change the team/players, the stupid calls against us by the refs or VAR. It will not change the missed opportunities in front of goal or the laziness at the back.

The frustrating thing is that in every game we had a some minutes with great passes and combinations at a higher level than any other A league team....the problem is it just doesn't last. On paper we have the most skillful and experienced players to ever play for the club.

Is it the manager's fault? Maybe it is maybe it's not. Hopefully this pressure on the coach will wake up the players (similar to WHU this week)

I can't believe this thread was started in February. Babbel Out ? It's as an absurd a proposition now as it was then. Got a problem. Sack the manager. Problem fixed. Really. Magical thinking from believers in Gods and Santa Claus.

I wonder what odds I can get on Siva and Babbel getting the sack at the sametime

Add Jonathan Woodgate at the Boro to the sack race.

Warnock is available and would prob like a nice Aussie trip to the sun to end his long managerial career :D. Route 1 hoof ball with a bit of dirty thrown in...like it.

Our we seriously having this discussion? In what universe do you contemplate sacking a manager for being 4th on the ladder? We will be the laughing stock of the Aleague if we sack Babbel

The media (and some people), thrive and seek negative energy. They are waiting for a car crash because that's something stimulating to sink there teeth into.

Well  i love this club and I don't want to see a sacking for faaaarkin entertainment. We should be backing the gaffer at this stage, not passively waiting  to see if we give him the flippin chop. We're 4th on the ladder, as far as we know he has the respect of the dressing room, and we're streets ahead of the diabolical performances of the last few seasons.

As i said earlier in the thread, the club can shove it if they sack him at this stage.

Agree..there is NO benefit to sacking Babbel now. Would be seriously amateur of the club to even contemplate it. And dont think they are somehow, just the media stiring things up.

Completely agree that it would be outrageous for the club to be contemplating this option at this stage of the season. It's media beat up for clicks, nothing else.

It's why I haven't bothered commenting about the speculation, until now.

It's just silly talk.

I agree there is no point sacking him now but I don't think that it shouldn't be an option. If we lose say the next 5 games and slip down the table is that acceptable? How long do we wait? We can't afford to just let it drift. I don't agree that he is safe until the end of the season regardless of what happens.

Wouldn't be that upset to be honest. It's that or he sits on the bench/reserve till he steps up to this mythical level he is so often talked about being at.

Was he actually a hit though? Everyone was saying that they didn't think he was up the level we wanted of an international CAM.

I am fully supporting Babbel , lets get behind him and the team and if we do no good let him go at the end of the season and then start the build for next year , if we let him go sadly it will be another blood letting and this time we not recover as club who players want to come to , I think we have been on shaky ground in this area since the Popa then Gombau debacle.

He’s a kid and one for the future talk of him going based 1 and half games is more stupid than the Babel out talk
