Sotirio Secures 1st WSW Win In 2019

Recommended Posts

Underwhelmed, is what springs to mind, thought it was an average game between two below average sides, dragging out to conclusion but not due to VAR but drink breaks this time, seemed like a pre season trial match at times.

but hey ho, we won but why am i not turning cartwheels?

Maybe it's the shock of winning, yep that must be it, i am in shock, forgotten how winning feels...

Sotirio has passed Kamau in goals per game, as well as actual goals scored while playing less games. If sotirio is showing him up, doesn’t Kamau really have a future with us next year?

I wouldn't even bother worrying about Kamau until we've released most of the players off contract this year.

Sotirio scores the majority of his goals against the worst teams in the comp (Jets & Mariners), and hasn't scored any A-League goals against SFC or MVC. However I'd be happy to roll him over again, he'll give us a little bit of a cap bonus over a new player on the same salary, and use him as a sub/rotation squad player.

Particularly as it seems like we're having trouble bringing in wingers in the youth system. The majority of the people coming in from youth have been midfielders (Tokich, Monge, Grozos, Agamemnon) or defenders (Tass, Aspro, Russel, Cordier). Wingers & Forwards like Scott, Majok & Roberts in positions where you need an end results have looked a bit less ready to step up.

Baccus and O'Doherty need to dictate play more. Too many times I saw they were not really in the game in terms of our attack which started from and Elrich or Russel pass and only if it found Roly would we continue to go forward. We bypassed those two or many occasions in this game. We need more contribution in general from our two DMs

Yea it was a win but it was not really inspiring and against a very poor CCM.  Will definitely take it with the season we have had and hopefully it can lift the boys in a few of the harder fixtures coming up.  Positives, some good performances by the kids, thought Tass and Tate were good enough and the negatives well Vedran the sooner he ****s of the better, noone likes a smart ass especially when people have every right to bag his recent efforts.

I don't have a problem with Vedrans reaction. We know he's a smartass, always has been. He's doing his best, just terribly out of form.

If people are gonna be smartasses to him, I'm happy he gave it back. Having said that, I didn't see an issue with his reaction. If it was me I would've delivered a big 'up yours'

I don't think this Tommy bloke is too keen on him either

Well it seems Gallop is very happy with atmosphere yesterday, something he always wanted at the Wanderers game

As for the game itself... I kind of  fell asleep midway through the first half and woke up before the second half to see us 1 up.

As Sotirio, he pretty much found his level by playing against the Mariners, against the 'better' teams, he gets massively exposed. But I'll give him credit for at least putting one away.

Riera tried but he's just too slow now, age has caught up with him

It's part of his KPIs - he personally needs to go to one game per season, do a head count of the spectators, and check if the atmosphere is in line with NRL principles. On Monday he'll be asked by the new chairman: "is the game dead yet?", and his response will be "not quite, but pretty close, almost there".

I am sure he much more enjoyed yesterday than his appearance at the S1 semi. Unless he was wearing a noise cancelling head set that night, the Parramatta-boos must still ring in his ears.

yea so he jumps over a ball there is simply no need to get near after doing a similar thing 2 games back that cost us 2 points just to be a smartass, imagine if he touched that again and we conceded a corner, just do your ******* job you are paid to do, worrying about the crowd also means he does not have his mind on the job - he is a dumb **** simple as that.

my problem with vedran is that he is not very good.

....so we gave him a 4 year contract.......lol

I think even a 3 year deal is too long in the HAL..........better to make it two years max with an option to renegotiate any extensions after the first 12 months.

Yep based on yesterday pretty sure he is nearly on target to meet that KPI. Wonder if part of achieving what he set out to achieve he gets $$ bonus.

Sad yesterday..a shadow of what we used to be on and off the field

They missed Matt Simon more. A win is a win but we would not scare any of the final aspirants on that display.

Still Treejack and Ziggy to play next week.

Yeboah went off early in the first half.

Russell kept Pain in his pocket for the majority of the time.

I hope someone can tell the coaching staff that Elrich is gassed at 60 minutes.

MB said in the presser that Duke is not fully fit.
