Duke and Riera Combine To Crush Brisbane

It’s a nice feeling to wake up this morning and be talking about a comfortable win. Composure on the ball was excellent last night and we were really knocking it round well. I thought everyone had a cracker.

Something that is particularly pleasing is that we are now a team that can actually score lots of goals (regardless of result). We’ve never been a team known for scoring multiples so to finally turn that around is awesome.

I don’t really care much for the finals this season. I’d rather we just keep this form going and set ourselves up for a good crack next year.

Exactly - nice to see we are becoming quite the attacking and free flowing team

Wonderful to watch

Well we played a great first half against a very poor team all credit to the team to lead 3.1 at halftime. Why did we go to sleep in the second half, reminiscence of early games in the season remember Mudgee for 1 of those games. We cannot beat Wellington next week if we play only 1 half again.

Roly's second half performance tells me he is no longer playing for a contract he probably has signed for the glory.

Majok was awful his decision making was as bad as his first touch.

When do Majok Tass And Baccus head of with the Olyroos and how many games will they miss.

Games on the 22; 24; 26th March. Not sure when the squad leaves, but apparently only miss the next game.

My reasoning for that second half was Duke not having the same energy as the first half so he wasn't able to link up like in the first half and was isolated. A lot of his play was two touch and move and that takes a lot of energy especially in the playmaker role and challenging every ball.

Also we went lopsided in our attack which mostly on the right side with Kamau and Majok instead of the left with Roly. We got control once Bridge and Yeboah came on, and started to target left side.

Our second half was less impressive because we had a comfortable lead. Yes, we've often lost that lead this season but this time we did it right (mostly), we held them at arms length and bopped em on the nose at the end.

I can see where you’re coming from but I think it’s more because Duke doesn’t move well in general. His biomechanics are shocking - when he made his debut a few weeks back I was watching him and from the stands he seemed very clunky. When he starts fatiguing that becomes more noticeable.

I wish I moved that poorly when I am on the field. 😂

Duke is a work horse and is not technically strong. But he is a grafter with an eye for goal and makes a nuisance. He is not on the Santa level, but there are some similarities.

In short....he is the kind of player you need in your squad in this comp.

I think you’re under estimating him, in the years he’s been in Japan he’s become a much smarter footballer. He gets into great positions and is sound on the ball.

Yeah I noticed he makes some very handy runs, his movement in general is next level, something we can always use.

I reckon you’re underestimating him. He beats people, has tight control, passing is well above the league average, and turns into space quite nicely.

Hes the kind of player we should be considering for a longer contract at the club. Him and Yeboah would make good comer stones

I see Duke more like Smoggy describes.

Valuable to the squad no doubt but he's only a step above being Matt Simon if Matt Simon was a footballer

Duke spent 4 years in the J-League fighting for his position every week, being moved around on the park and still making it work in a very strong league, for much longer than almost any other Australian player in recent years has done overseas before coming back to the A-League.

He's a great signing for us and in the right team could give us an antidote for years of wingers who don't score.

Seriously doubt that! None of us would take Simon - for many reasons, not the least of which is he isn't that good.  Duke shows more class and skill than Simon.

Simon's probably a better keeper than Nizic.
