Team Name

Recommended Posts

Some sleuths on the old fourfourtwo forum have had a look at various IP Australia pages and it appears the three names in contention are:

Macarthur Bulls FC

Macarthur FC

Dharawal Bulls (Dharawal being the name of an Aboriginal tribe located in what is now South/South-West Sydney).

Official announcement is May 15.

Marcarthur Bulls is already the name of a Rugby League team (ironically, it's a team made up of NSW Police officers).

They're not the worst possible names. I like that they're focusing on Macarthur to differentiate themselves a bit from WSW.

500 tickets sold for their name and colours lunch.  From memory they were $150 with any profit going to local charities.

GM couldn't resist making a dollar out of anything......

And he's a strong advocate of making NPL youth squads bigger (to say 20+ players). Wouldn't have anything to do with $1500-$2500 per player, would it?

So if GM and Sam K are involved does that make this team Sydney United 58 on steroids?

We are loyal, tribal, proud, hard working, and inclusive.

Our bull demonstrates our physical power and our club name is strong, stable and synonymous to our region.

The three stars of the Southern Cross represent our connection as Australians and symbolise our links through Football - Community, NPL and A-League, each equally important.

Our club name, bull and three stars are enclosed, embodying our association partners, our community and our vision - with strength and endurance.

The black and white represents people from every culture and the touches of ochre pay homage to the Dharawal heritage.

"The Cows" for the W League team.  LOL.  Might be legal issues around that with the producers of South Park.

Macarthur FC indigenous football academy.

Macarthur FC were pleased to announce today that they would create the first indigenous football academy in the A-League. Professor John Maynard will chair the indigenous advisory panel (another first) which will help guide the academy to developing and nurturing young indigenous players in our great game. Professor Maynard was pleased to announce the first three partners in the Academy would be the University of Western Sydney, Campbelltown City Council and the Walker Corporate Foundation.

FYI and not to stir an argument, the design company behind the logo had major input and is run by 2 women.

So from the accompanying video to the logo launch, it would appear that Smithfield and Fairfield are now in the Macarthur region as they are claiming Harry Kewell and Tony Popovic....and is that footage of the RBB at Campbelltown i can see? I could have sworn i saw my son.....
