Oh...That's  good.  :good:

I think I'm a bit of both.

Tbh our season was over after the halfway mark. We had a glimmer of hope for finals but in reality we don;t deserve to be there anyway. My criticisms of the manager doesn't mean I want him gone but with his pedigree I would of expected better returns than what we have achieved. According to some experts here the quality of the players is secondary because a good manager makes do with what he has. Well clearly that is not the case here.

I give him kudos for bringing in the young guys who will benefit from the games this season. Duke and Yeboah have been ok signings but I'm a bit meh about AB10 and haven't seen enough of Zeigler to make a firm judgement. I think most of us just want a competitive team that puts in week in week out.

Regardless..........I'll always be......:wanderturtle:

Yes...but well....he didn't really understand the A League...did he?

Your boundless optimism is refreshing...and  is the only straw we cling to.

Well for me it is.

But boy are you going to cop it ( from me :xnod:) after...say....3 rounds next season ...if you're wrong!  :pardon:

:grouphug:

He didn't need to, he had JP next to him to help with the HAL specifics. But yes, the differences between th HAL and European setups were quite surprising to him. The Janjetovic clown show alone had the potential to rock his belief in the foundations of football professionalism.

Gombau and JT signed all Aussie players before MB took over. JT signed an AFL fitness coach. In hindsight, club should have put an end to the Baccus snr debacle at the beginning of the calendar year. None of this kind of historical BS will be allowed to continue on.

Oi....Mr Janjetovic can take ownership of that for himself, thank you very much, FCB. :P

Most of us have never seen anything like his stuff ups this season, after watching the A League over many years. :D

I might be bad on the memory but what happened to Tass and Tate are they injured

Tass was excellent in the run of games before the Phoenix lost

edit - know they went olyroos but since then?

The manager iirc has stated with wtte that they played more games than he anticipated and as young players they were becoming mentally ragged and he wasn't going to burn them out. He wants them to learn, get experience, but not have to shoulder the responsibility because that rests with the senior players.

The fact they stepped up is a good thing and I agree with him that you don't want them to be overawed. They will be even better if as he has stated he is bringing a better class of player for them to learn from.  As a professional player himself he would most probably have seen young players thrown in to the deep end to soon.  Teenagers like Mbappe stepping up big time are the exception not the rule. He's doing the right thing by them I think. I think of players like Arzani who are good but should of stayed for another full HAL season.

All the understanding of the league won’t fix

GK Vedran (12 points of mistakes)

Llorente can’t defend and knows he’s leaving

Hammil - 100 games and still struggles to pass to his own team and gives away stupid free kicks on the edge of the box

elrich - trys hard was a great player but isn’t getting younger and is playing out of position

Kamau - average right winger playing out of position at RB

mahazi - NPL player (try’s hard)

gg - serie C player (who has had one decent half of football so far)

Duke - only player who started who I’d keep for next year

ab 10 - on holiday

Roly - player of the season?

reira - over a million a season to miss sitters

not that Babbel hasn’t made mistakes

saturday night was a new low in a season of lows

The problems of the club are deeper than our stylish German friend

Watched the game on TV, turned it off at half time, there was no effort by the boys, its like thhey didnt really care, but only 3 players showed their worth, Duke, Gaullifuoco and Elrich. The rest couldn't careless.

Any team that allows Matt Simon to score deserves to lose.

Hmmm guess we have to trust the Gaffer on this one

you would think if they were doing well it’s more wise to keep them getting experience At the top level especially when you want to see if those 2 are potential starters next season if they continue to improve as they did with more games this season

I can't see how anyone would be against a massive squad overhaul after the season we've just had.

There's barely a handful that deserve to remain and most of them are in the NYL that only got promoted because the seniors that were supposed to perform every week were rubbish.

You talk about loyalty. Majority of these players can **** off and take cap space elsewhere so others that actually want to have a chance of being loyal to this region and colours can do so.

What good is holding on to players with deficient basic technical skills or where their skills have massively degraded?

Vedran & Nizic aren't good keepers, Hamill & Llorente can't defend while Elrich is too slow to play fullback and isn't a central defender, Majok can't take a first touch without it going into the stands, Riera is missing sitter headers & penalties, Baumjohann can't do anything but make the occasional neat pass. Risdon was a non-entity for 2 seasons and missed many games while playing for Australia & getting hurt. Bridge, Ziegler hurt all year. Mahazi is barely capable of doing the absolute minimum level of technical play as a central midfielder and the younger midfielders Tokich & Grozos were constantly getting hurt.

Fitzgerald & Kamau didn't get better or worse but Fitzgerald doesn't appear to have interested Babbel enough to bother with him & Kamau is playing fullback and looking about as good as Elrich & Llorente did (which is bad for the 'real' fullbacks).

Who improved this year? Baccus apart from still getting sent off & suspended for yellows. Russell, Tass, Suman & Roly who is probably leaving anyway because Babbel doesn't want to keep a player who can't play in the middle but isn't a real winger. O'Doherty looked okay as a squad player but did an ACL and will be irrelevant for next year's success.

It took Duke to fire up the side and he got the same pushback from existing players that Gombau got when he told them all how **** they were playing.

When it comes down to it, if you were starting a side from scratch based on last year who would you sign? I'd only 100% want to sign Baccus, Russell, Tass, Duke, Yeboah and Suman.

There's a handful more that you could fit into squad roles like Ziegler (as an Australian, as a foreigner he's been a complete dud so far), Kamau or because they are young and hopefully do better (Monge, Grozos) and maybe Gallifuoco as a hardman central midfielder/backup CB.

This and last season were utter garbage, 3 seasons was dismal and the 4th last was a massive choke.

JT must be thanking his lucky stars that 3 years of total failure hasn't resulted in his sacking. Although for all we know he might be on the way out after the Wanderers Team Night in 2 weeks.

We started the season with these over-23 players:

Hamill, Elrich, Kamau, Ziegler, Bridge, Risdon, Janjetovic, Nizic, Mahazi, Baumjohann, Llorente, Riera, Roly, Mahazi, Sotirio.

They were the guys who were supposed to deliver the goods, and carry the squad. I can only see Ziegler as starting player next season.

And Jaush has been AWOL since his hand talking gesture and giving **** to a fan afterwards on Instagram. So he is obviously on the outer too.

Also mack, GG won't cut it as a starter. He has had 1 half of football of note. Was terrible every other time and was worse than terrible against CCM

lol that was funny

Mack......I’m hearing JT is off to SWSydney soon and a certain ex WSW coach ( one that likes to take a % off players contract fee ) will be there as well .

Nah you see the ref "moved his head to follow the ball" and missed the clear red card, according to Ben Wilson the referees boss. Never mind that the footage doesn't show the ref moving his head at all until well after the contact.

Yep. He completely f***** up.

Especially when he was 10 metres away with an unimpeded view and assistants who are mic'ed up so he does need to turn that fast.

Our record under Kersey is now 1 win 3 losses out of 4 games in A-league competition.

Given our form for last three seasons 1 win out of 4 would be or record under all the refs

For once the Var did what it was supposed to do and picked up an obvious error

The pen was the oddest decision

He was right for the free kick

It's just another example of the FFA lying to the fans. They even had a simple thing they could have said, "his view was blocked by a player" and instead went for the elaborate lie that the evidence contradicts.

Reckon that won’t see him next round.

the referees would have had their Tele-conference yesterday and Kersey would have failed on his considerations for that decision, hence the smokescreen.  Pity there was no VAR intervention on the Greenwood decision

It's not hard to lie to the fans when our pollies do it day in day out. They learn from the best.🤔🤔🤔🤐🤐🤐

We have won less than 1 in 4 games this season

I honestly don't think the club cares because at the moment people are still buying memberships.

They have next season to completely change, they get 1 chance to get it right or they're in big big trouble.

Hopefully JT understands how serious this is, our season has to be better than Perth is having right now - football heartland deserves better than 8th.
