I'm mostly talking about in the past. They are slowly using some youth players now.

But, if you look at their past, they had some players that had a superb career in their youth squad and once they got promoted to the senior squad, they barely got any game time. Some good examples are Bai Antoniou, Max Burgess, Patrick Flottman, Joey Gibbs, Jake Hollman, Iain Ramsay, Jerry Skotadis, Ryan Teague, Marco Tillo and George Timotheou.

The other thing I find funny is the Smurfs was established in roughly 15 years ago. It's taken them THIS LONG just to create an academy centre? Don't they call themselves Bling FC? So...why has it taken them this long to commence building an Academy?

This is why I'm glad Lederer had asked Babbel and Robinson to start using some youth players and the Academy has managed to produce some great quality footballers. If they are not going to use players from the academy, why have one?

Plus, the idea how expanding the bench from 5 to 7 a few years ago was a start decision to get some youth players some game time with the senior squad.

I really hope in a few years time, the club has players from the Academy start their career with the Wanderers and then eventually progress in Europe.

If true ,the Chairman of the club should not be asking the coach to start using youth players from the Academy. The coach is responsible for the team and accountable for results and should not have outside interference from the Board in that regard.

The coach should be only be picking players on their character ,talent and ability to win games not because they come from the Academy. Maybe that's one of the reasons we came 8th this year.

Who are these great Academy players that have been produced ? IMO the Academy has not repaid the investment to date.

They have had a competitive W League team every season. Only in the last 2 seasons have we had coaches who look like they know what they are doing !!

We haven’t had a competitive W league team for 2 seasons, last year was kids. We weren’t even close to competitive.

Or 3/4 of a season W league competitive team was based of US and Irish imports who left before the end

If you're not going to use youth players on the senior squad that have the skills to play with the senior squad then what's the f*cking point of having an Academy then?

One of the best things introduced into the A-League was allowing clubs to have up to 7 players on the bench as long as 3 of them have to be 23 years old or under. I don't care if Robinson decided to fill the whole bench with youth players. As long as they have the skills to be playing the senior squad then so be it. They need to start their senior career somewhere so why not start it with the Wanderers?

As for your quote "Who are these great Academy players that have been produced?" There's been ALOT of players that have been produced from the Wanderers Academy. But...some leave before they even get an opportunity at the Wanderers senior squad because they are so talented, they get scouted by someone overseas and given an opportunity to trial or be signed up by the overseas club (this applies for both men and women).

Also, your quote "IMO, the Academy has not repaid the investment to date" is a little bit stupid since the Wanderers Excellence Centre officially opened in September 2019.

All I am saying is :-

1. The coach should pick the best players available. If young players are given an unfavorable leg up when they are not ready that bad for the kid , the coach and the results.

2. Name the 3 top great players the club is supposed to have produced because I can't think of them.

3. The club has had youth development since 2012 , the Academy or Centre of Excellence name is just a tag that is now used.

Can we expect a change in music and half time entertainment - Elvis can do impressions of Elvis in lieu of not getting on the park.

Hopefully they also sign Lennon Kamsoba and he gets the half time gig instead. I can only imagine  how that would go.

The HAL cap has replaced the FFA cap. You can assume that the lack of spending at Smurf FC headquarters has something to do with their accounting department adjusting the books to the new reality.

Lack of spending this season means that they don't have any wiggle room under the new cap rules. Which means that they were over the FFA cup, probably as long as the league exists. No surprises here.
