This one is for you @Smoggy

You may or may not be in the mood for it atm, but I've always found when I'm feeling a bit down, this song cheers me up a bit. So many smiling faces.

Haha...I always hated it too.

Then, I had it posted on the old Politics Threads...often...whenever various antagonists thought I was being  unrealistic/ naive etc.

So...I became less irritated by it.

But it's the thought that counts...and it was a caring offering from Wanderboy! :good:

If it's any consolation mate, I watched an Interview earlier on youtube with Michael Stipe and one of the other band members, and...……..they said they hated it too and basically regret they ever wrote and recorded it! :D

I do love Kate Pearson (is that her name?) and her voice though. Maybe the only saving grace.

Always been a secret pleasure, that song, b52s, come on. I know they hated it, I don't know why, must have lost some hipster irony cred for writing a pure pop song.

Errr...it's awful?

Except some nice people do like it. :D

The hook is good come on, the guitar riff I mean. Great pop riff. "do-do-do-do-do, do-do-do, do-doo-do", and provides for a nice moment when it kicks back in.

Then b52s style harmonies on the vocals to pair up with that.

The lyrics are twee, absolutely, and not even funny twee, but, eh. I tune them out and hear a nice tune.

I used to hate it, but now as my music tastes have matured and I have a happier disposition and positive outlook to life.

I really f***ing hate it with an unatural level of passion.

I know this will be worth zero to anyone here pretty much but this just blew my mind.

Was the inspiration for the following, which is one of my all time favourites. ALways wondered what the **** he was saying. Turns out.... it was a hindi love song.

Well, you're the ****er that told me they were out of fashion. I was devastated and am still coming to terms with it every time I "strut" around the towers.

Thank goodness for Covid. I think I've gone largely unnoticed. :)

This followed "I'll Find My Way Home".

It's a high energy song...a happy song about making change!

I've always loved Peter Gabriel. His best songs were not his biggest hits, but this was great. If I get time or remember, I might post some of his others.

BTW, once you posted that Yes vid, I've been watching a shite load of other stuff.

It's so unfortunate that ELP were never so big in Oz, as they were incredibly talented musicians.

Greg Lake...

Keith Emerson....

And probably, their most famous hit in this country... Geez I love that safe standing area behind them in this vid. :) (Montreal Olympic Stadium)

70's rockers but so incredibly diverse with their range of compositions.

They also had such beautiful compositions as these......
