Only time heard the cove when break and shift from song to song from RBB, as if they were waiting for the break so they could be heard but soon as RBB started up the next song they soon dissipated and stopped.

Walkout and WDWSF and poznan were waaaay better attempts from previous years, slowly but surely the whole ground buzz IS coming back!

I forgot to say - thank you to anyone here who might have been involved - in NOT doing Glorious as the walkout! :yahoo:

In fact, I didn't hear it all night I don't think.

Didn't think it died at all in the 2nd half - you were all brilliant all game. And LOUD.

Maybe the openings at the back of each stand allow the breeze in....and the sound out??

Someone with a background in Physics can no doubt explain it - and it's probably the same in any stadium.... but the strong sound ends by the half way line. Or it did at the old stadium, and it does at our new one as well.

We were down the southern end lower tier in line with the 18yrd box and we could hear the RBB. Thought the atmosphere was great the whole game.

Which is sad for those past the half way line if they want to soak up the atmosphere, and want to participate.

i would advise you to shift seats Wendy. There are no bad seats..but over the hslf way towards the RBB is most certainly where you need to be.

Yes it was - and I'm sure that permeated the whole stadium.

But could you have stayed in synch - if singling /clapping with them?

People around me a few bays from the northern end couldn't manage that!

I unfortunately didn’t make the game due to having to do hospital run for an injured kid. So I watched on Kayo.

All you could hear in the second half was the Cove. I’m assuming the mics were fortuitously placed for them

I am in a fantastic location - not far from the RBB.

I have zero complaints for myself.

I picked up on Taurus' first comment (quoted below by The Sweeper) re the ability to hear the RBB - and linked it to any sort of stadium wide walkout song/activity that might be desired.

You can hear the RBB down that end, but not as loudly as you might want to - and you can't coordinate, or synchronise, choreo…..if you did want to.

It's what you experienced at the South end at the old stadium.

It is what it is...and there's nothing to be done about it EXCEPT, if a stadium wide/in unison activity was desired. That's all I'm saying.

I'm seated with a group of 12 FM's in the 8th/9th row of the upper tier, in line with the penalty box at the southern end.

Whilst it's a superb viewing stadium the acoustics leave a lot to be desired.

It was noticeable at the CCM game with a crowd of 'only' 17k & a less than full RBB, that the noise being created by the active fans didn't reverberate like it did at Wanderland 1.0.

Tonight with a full house & a heaving RBB, we still heard very little of the noise being created by the RBB, other than the WDWSF call & responce, which we weren't even aware was happening, until we heard some muffled responces from those seated closer to half way.

The cove on the other hand were loudish & clearly audible on the few occasions that they decided to make some noise.

My gut feeling is that without a solid roof structure, the noise only travels to approx half way, before it dissipates into the ether.

My highlight from tonight were the occasions that PS gestured to both Ninkovic & Grant, that they talk / whinge far too much.

Animated GIF

Fantastic from shwegler  I love this guy . Any chance you can do the one in the confrontation with grant ? . Corica is yelling in his face Schwegler ignores him and flashes a cheeky smile and wink at Brattan and I think maybe even blows him a kiss

Not sure why Babbel hasn’t made more subs, in both Victory/SFC games, Meier and Yeboah both look very tired towards the end.

Would of been a good to throw on Grozos at least. Last 10 mins or so. Then Ziegler last 5.

I figured the lack of subs was to teach the players how to grind out a result and work together

We were defending 11 behind the ball for much of the second half which I didn’t really like from a tactical perspective but in terms of teaching the players to be resilient and how to play under a crapton of pressure, it was great

I don't think he's going to risk drawing the derby to teach some players a lesson. I think he genuinely didn't want to change a group who were hanging on. Which means he either doesn't trust the guys on the bench enough in tight games or just felt that any changes he would make would be too disruptive at that point.

As promised, I’ve held judgement until after the first 3 rounds. So not that many (if any) of you probably care, but I’ll share my thoughts anyway.

The stadium: Fantastic. As good as anything I could’ve hoped for. That last night at Pirtek against the Roar in 2016 is a find but distant memory of how things used to be. And slowly but surely we are making our way back to those days. Facilities are great, there is hardly a bad seat in the house. It feels European, it feels like Parramatta. It feels like home.

The squad: Getting it together. Still yet to see Müller (understandable), Ziggy (annoying, but hopefully back next week) or Kamau. When these three come back on deck, I’m not sure what the make up of the team will be (formation wise), but at the very least we will have competition for spots. One position I do feel we are light on is the midfield. I’ve said it before, but Shweggy is and will be our most importantly player this season. If he doesn’t play last night, we crumble.

The coach: 50/50 on this one so far. He has assembled a squad that has the heart, desire and determination to play for each other, something that has been lacking for years now, but that should be the very least the fans expect. His use of players and especially subs confuses me, and hopefully I put that down to building fitness and so on, but then again, shouldn’t that be for pre season?

Last night: Great. Great to finally get a win over those pricks. Great to finally have Parramatta buzzing and bouncing. Great to finally be back on top of the ladder.

THREE AND O, throw in a Derby win and a Victard win away and it is the best start to any of our seasons by a long long way.  Last year with tjhose games we start the season 0-3 instead as all three games we could of and would of lost.  Vedran well he is having an Op but even if they sew another arm on him he wont get a game in front Lopar, Schwegler man what a player and he's got that Western Sydney attitude which is even better.  Consider Duke is only 80%, Meir 2 games in 9 months, we still had plenty of kids out there and sure we were outplayed but so what we have outplayed them pleny in the past and been beaten by a dodgy call or lack of luck.  Seeing Corica carrying on and the players going up to the ref at the end of the game was absolute gold. The double standards between our Clubs was never more apparent than Marcus being sent off at the SCG for throwing his jacket and Corica the dog going one of our players who was on the ground outside his technical area for no action.  But who cares, the saltier they are the better for me.

So right on that point, as said in earlier post, you can see he has played in many a derby game, not too fired up but aggro and smart enough to wind up the oppo, best defensive midfield display by a wanderer player in many a year!

Hes going to tote up those yellows at an alarming rate though, but that's the trade off for the mongrel display he keeps putting in.

50/50 - you are kidding,  sure his use of subs is limited but we don't know the fitness of what he has on the bench, what change would you of made last night?  You could not of upset the defence by making a change, the midfield needed something but a creative player like Grozos is noit going to graft in defence and up top we are limited and needed experience but had none on the bench.  You bring on Ziegler and he falls apart again and all of a sudden we are playing with 10 and no subs for the remainder.  I also think you underate heart, desire and determination, as this will win you more games than talent over a season. For a coach to instill that in a new team with 8 new faces in less than a one season is a miracle.  Last year, we lose all three of those games without those traits and are sitting rock bottom, instead we top the ladder.

I don’t know why Babbel didn’t make a change, they were all over us in the midfield

Yaboah was gassed and completely ineffective, Duke was done by the end (although you couldn’t take him off as he is so influential on the team)

surprised he didn’t bring Ziegler on into midfield to sure it up or Grozos to give us some legs.

we won nothing else matters right now

50:50? We are 3 wins from 3 and played victory away and sydney at home

what would it take for say 60:40?

He’s right though could easily have lost to the probable wooden spooners at home and if we’d lost 3-0 last night nobody would have complained .

The other "flaw" is that the roof is a canvas like material. It doesn't have the density of a more solid roof, so it won't reflect the sound as well as a more solid structure.

@wendybr re: the sound lag, that is inevitable in any stadium with large distances. The sound lags slightly behind the visual, and with reflections being created in the stadium, it creates additional noise and slowly leads to people going out of sync with each other (plus lots of people can't keep time for ****). At music concerts they'll actually time delay rear/further away speakers by a few microseconds to account for the slight delay in it reaching people away from the sound source.

I thought of the canvas being part of the issue...but wasnt goi g to say anything else.

Thanks for you sharing your knowledgeable perspective! :good:

Hello Banana!

Sorry. :D

Don't know how close to the front of the RBB you operate these days.

We've clashed in the past...but you guys were perfect last night...from where I was.

Congrats! :good:

A combination of babbel, duke and georgievski has completely changed the attitude and mentality of the whole club.

We are 100% losing that game over the last few years with pea hearts like ABJ, Borda, Vedran, Llorente etc as team leaders.

Perhaps we are heading for a derby Grand Final. Wouldn't that be something.

Hope not. That came would surely be played at ANZ , could bare to loose another grand final especially to them.

Re: subs

Who was on our bench last night? Tass, Tate Russell, Ziegler. Three defensive options that were not used.

The reason was clearly to teach the eleven on the park a bit about discipline, grinding a result out, and persistence. Could have easily taken off Yeboah for Russell perhaps so that we had extra legs in defence and has some energy to push forward if needed.
