Football To Be Behind Closed Doors From Monday

Recommended Posts

They will try.

They should say to them "ok if you get every player, coach and their families to get tested, then have no contact with anyone - and that includes getting all meals delivered, taking chartered flights where you stay more than 2 metres from all crew  - then you can do it".  Get them to sign up to it.

I'd say that would end it real quick. But if they choose not to interact with anyone outside the game, go for it.

That sounds like some sort of dystopian movie. Especially if you added that they lived in a big brother style house or something where their every move was watched. :shok:

In other words...... awesome.

Old movie reminiscent of this is "The Andromeda Strain"

AFL competition will be suspended (finally). Hopefully the A-League follows (and the NRL, I guess).

I also hope the Phoenix players with families over in Wellington can find a way home.

Yep, AFL is done until late May / early June at the very earliest, NRL will have no choice but to follow I would think. A League is finished, just void the season, ESFC no championship.

I feel for the Warriors and Phoenix players, they should never have been asked to leave NZ in my opinion even if willing to do so,

Its all happening in the news at the moment! :shok:

lol just listening to the boss of the NRL on the news, absolutely deluded, no idea at all what is going on.

Total wanker.

Ex Horse Industry (racing) piece of excrement. He should be in prison for what he allowed to occur to thoroughbred horses during his time there.

Low life, NRL can have him.

3 month suspension apparently but who knows where we will be in 3 months with cases doubling every 4 days

It was suspected that if the A-League clubs were to cancel the league then FFA may be able to terminate the tv contract.

I think they are waiting for the government to cancel it for them, this means that Fox can’t terminate the contract? I don’t know. People asking for the FFA/AL to show leadership but it should be taken out of their hands.

It's already the case that Perth and Adelaide can't play their 7 or so home games left.

With Perth & Adelaide borders shut, how can it continue? It was speculated two weeks ago that they could play all matches out of a central venue in one of the states.

I personally think that the comp should keep going, not just for the foxtel money but in defiance of the virus and to show the world life can go on.

The issue becomes if even just one of these players catches it doesn’t discriminate. Perfectly healthy 30 yo men & women are being hospitalized. It’s not just them but their families if anyone they live with have any health conditions or elderly, these lives are at risk.

The virus can live up to 14 days before anyone shows any symptoms. How many people can it be spread to? How many vulnerable people will catch it? How many of these athletes be the unlucky ones to catch the virus & die?

I remember Italy was the same, they wanted to show how they could show the world they weren’t afraid, it was just another virus. Two weeks later another 800 people died overnight, death toll rising to 5,500 in two weeks. Now isn’t the time to defy the virus, it’s about survival & keeping as many people healthy as possible so when the numbers peak we have enough hospital beds for those that need it.

You think about it, most people are out there going to work, some driving and others using public transport and then performing there work duties under strict protocols. What's the difference between us and them.

With the borders between states, the FFA and clubs are going to have a logistical nightmare unless they local all teams in one state

The only way to complete the competition is locate all teams in NSW using Bankwest, Newcastle, Kogarah, Gosford and Campbelltown

If they are going to finish this using the stadiums you mention and packing the games in might be the only way.

I think you are on to something here.  A week or so ago there were people in the cinema industry hoping the government would shut them down, I think so they could go to their landlord and say that they hadn't broken their contracts.  Probably NRL/AL thinking something similar.
