The mixed messages and confusion between state and federal levels here is ridiculous. No one has a clue what they should be doing here.

This link is to the latest AHPPC statement about Covid - 19.  It details their advice to the National Cabinet and their reasoning including why they do no support school closures at this stage.  Stats at the end are interesting.

https://www.health.gov.au/news/australian-health-protection-principal-committee-ahppc-coronavirus-covid-19-statement-on-22-march-2020

Thanks for sharing Tox, good to see the reasoning of decisions & detailed explanations instead of sound bites of our politicians :good:

Dutton's been acting like king **** and actually wanted to become PM because of how popular he thought he was for using military radar planes & patrol boats to detect refugees and turn them back to Indonesia but the moment there's a real physical threat to the country he and his shitty American propaganda gimmick Border Force are needed they go awol and will have contributed to actual real deaths of our citizens. If he had any shred of ethics he'd resign or be pushed out by the PM, but neither of them have an ethical bone in their bodies so that's never going to happen.

She’s amazing. Genuine, down to earth, compassionate but tough, sensible, clear and caring. She never addresses the country without making you realise she is one of them, in it with them. When she does that they follow her, they WANT to follow her.

She always tells them what she/the gov will do, and then asks them to help. And whenever she directly tells them what to do, it’s like a friend looking out for you. “Go home mate, you can’t drive in your state”

Well I never thought I'd see the day when I could go to a speakeasy/sly grog shop to get a drink but here we are. The bar was closed, the lights were out, but people were home..... 8)

I see a cruise ship packed full of covid-19 is steaming towards Fremantle.

The prem of WA wants to send it to Sydney so we can deal with it in our usual relaxed way.....

Not really..looks like they are heading for quarantine on Rottnest which will be nice.

Seriously though why the **** are cruise ships still ******* running! Hawks and the torpedo idea looks the best option!

There's heaps of cruise ships out there, many more than are being reported, Queen Mary 2 for example is still out there somewhere.

They don't want to land people they just want a wharf big enough to tie up to, dropping anchor isn't always the best option and harder to resupply with food and alcohol and viagra pills (for the baby boomer cruises).

Edit, QM2 is on the way to South Africa so all good there.

Its hard.

Im no stranger to recessions, layoffs and general hardtimes...that was how things were in the boro right through the 80's and well in to the 90's.

I am not going to be a dick and say people should toughen up blah blah..in myyyyy day blah....its too serious for that kind of bollocks and too much pain out there and to come.

Long dole queues and gov website crashing, unfortunately Aus is about to get a dose of what "effiiency dividends" really means when it comes to govt services or lack thereof.  The bushfires was just a sideshow compared to this .

Stay Safe all.

Big announcement coming from Boris in the UK at 7.30 our time, an unprecedented national address coming they say.

The word is that total Italian style lockdown is coming for London and possibly the whole UK...will have to wait and see what he says.

The same would surly happen here soon. I was out and about for the first time inover a week yesterday and everyone seemed to be walking and sitting around as usual. The economic reality it starting to hit home but dont think the virus has just yet.

UK effectively goes in to lockdown, everyone to stay home for 3 weeks. Can only leave home for a variety of listed reasons which are online.

An incredible call from Boris but an important one.

ScoMo doesn't have the guts to implement something like this..in the meantime we are pissing around with cruise ships and arguing about schools.

We are more likely to go Trump and start toying with the Idea of just going back to normal. We won't, but it's still more likely. Who the **** voted in a ******* rapture happy clapper. There was a time when such thing would be considered unAustralian but the dog whistlers have conveniently forgotten that.

Just ran into an ex student lining up for centre link. Doesn't open for over an hour. Already a few there.

I wonder if the rhetoric against “dole bludgers” will continue now that many more are in the unemployment benefits queue

Lol in the 80's when millions were out of work the Thatcher government still referred to them as that lol I recall Norman Tebitt saying people should 'get on their bikes and look for work' like his dad in the 30's..yeah righto Norm...expect similar from this Lib government.

Trumps currently doing a press conference, can't see any sign of Anthony Fauci, another victim of Trump's vengeance?

Well this is all pretty ****. People getting sick and dying. Business's closing down. People out of work. Sport cancelled. Social gatherings cancelled. Schools all but shut down. I'm confined to a tinny house with 3 women (god help me when they "sync up") and 2 young boys who can only be described as disasters looking for a place to happen.  MY WHOLE LIFE IS BUILT AROUND ESCAPING THIS MADNESS AND NOW I'M STUCK!

 Could it get any worse?

Stay safe folks. Don't be ironic

Duck pancakes, Peking duck, duck ragu, duck confit, crispy skin duck, duck risotto, roast duck. So many options! You could become your own MasterChef! Or better yet, get the kids to compete to make the best dishes!

Yeah it’s ****ed. I am out of a job in mid May, got a mate who got told that if it’s like this on 1 June he’s gone. Friend just had her hours cut to 4 days, some down to 2 or 3.

And these are full-timers (mine was my own fault I gave notice and hired my replacement and then Bam, virus hits), hate to be in hospo or casual job right now.
