Wanderers Cruise To Victory

Recommended Posts

Full back selections looking good now Tate, Wilma, Aquaman, DG & Ziggy as well if need be.

to be honest i was in the gods last night bored rigid for the first hour, hoping last few seasons dross was not going to be served up again, last 30 mins saved the game as a spectacle.

as mentioned 3 points :) but left a bit underwhelmed, MV were bang average and we should have got away to the races a bit earlier i felt.

Good result. Defence still yet to concede in open lay but better yet we didn't concede a set piece!! woooooo. Still very rusty going forward but it does seem our forward players have had the least football in their legs and it shows with their rusty play.

Huge shame for Troisi, and i hope he will be ok to play on the weekend because hes finally starting to hit his straps after some worryingly below par performances in his first 5 games. We really need to get him on the ball more in deeper positions.

Wilmering had a very positive cameo and boy does he have a nice left foot that could really come in handy. Good battle building for that left wingback position.

Baccus is in the firing line for me. And it's a real shame because hes got the heart and some talent. But he just does not seem to have show whats needed between the ears. If it wasn't for his energy and that tidy little dribble he has to escape some of the hole he puts himself in then he would be dropped already. He has made a habit of being very sloppy in possession and gifting 3 v 2 multiple times a game, every game. We lose about 5 solid minutes of possession with some of his giveaways. Fingers crossed the arrival of Mutch teaches him a thing or 2 and gets him to not necessarily pull his finger out, but play smarter not harder.

Well after criticising Yeboah in the last game I am very happy with his performance against Victory. It was much better, really impacted the game and when he missed the first chance I felt for him, but he got on with it and scored our 2nd goal which looked a lot harder than the one he missed. Hopefully it gets his confidence up saw shades of the player that first came to the Wanderers.

Ibini still needs to improve only started to get into the game after the penalty, before the penalty you could forget he was actually on the park.

Overall a good defensive display from the team restricted Victory to half chances and set plays but those set plays you can tell were not comfortable. In attack were missing the x factor up front and if it wasn't for the penalty I am not sure we would have won this one. Could have stayed easily stayed a draw but I am happy with 3 points

Also shoutout to Wilmering returning. On to the next game

Well I thought we did well we constantly intervened in midfield to stop Victories attacks a lot of good performances , more than bad , can’t wait to see our full compliment on the park .  Gunna be a tough one on Saturday night, injuries and suspension may hurt us added to 3rd game in a week.

Coach said in the interview that after talking to Kamau and Troisi, they may not be injured and took them off as a precaution. Fingers crossed they are ok. We can't afford anymore injuries.

willmerring was ace too, some rather sexual crossing

Yeah his crosses have the best shape on them in the team.

Agree with everyone else about the rest - worst Victory side ever, we are building nicely.

I like the interplay of passes at times but we need a killer instinct up front.

I must have missed those 2 goals because I did fall asleep around the 60th minute, it was a very lackluster game where both teams showed little quality on the ball barely creating any chances in the first half.

I seriously thought that Dorrans should have gotten a red card for this high boot on Rojas but very thankful he got away with a yellow because from what i I saw catching up on the game this morning, he was very crucial to our win. I thought Victory would fire up but they didn't.

I have been reading a lot that Dorrans and Rojas incident may have warranted  a red card. But if you look at the replay Dorrans tries to control the ball he never sees Rojas and Rojas puts his head in there. Dorrans pulls out of it once he sees him but by then the damage was done. It was accidental and it was a yellow, it was only after you see how serious it was.

But The Victory striker Gestede was lucky he was still on the pitch because his high boot also warranted a a yellow and it would have his second. Same with Kruse's stamp on Gordon in the 1st half.

Yeah WIlmering's crosses were quality. Mack mentioned it earlier but Georgievski (and to a lesser extend Tate) don't get the ball in early enough when we have attackers in the box. There was a moment early in the second half where the ball got played out to Georgievski, Cox and Ibini each made runs in the box to break away from their markers but had to stop and go back while Georgievski tried to beat one more marker. Completely killed the chance and let their backline reset.

Wilmering made an early cross in a similar situation and while we didn't get on the end of it he played it behind their backline but far enough from the keeper that he couldn't come for it. It was super dangerous and they had to scramble it behind for a corner.

Georgevski can’t cross with his left foot, so he cuts in every time to put it on his right. There’s the momentum gone there. Not to mention easy to defend.

Tate can cross from the right but,he often does it too early or at least from too deep, if he can get to the byline much harder to defend

willmering put a beauty in with curve on it

Just noticed this watching the replay.
As Dorrans lines up to take the pen, Brimmer is behind him yelling **** out to put Dorrans off.

as soon as Dorrans converted, he ran up to Brimmer and gave it right back to him.

Dorrans said to Brimmer, I've played in the premier League dropkick. Suck on that

That would have burned, Brimmer was signed at Liverpool as a 16 or 17 year old but got released 2 years into his 3 year deal, at the same time Dorrans was at Norwich in the PL and Rangers in Scotland.

I'm guessing, but I don't think I'm far away from the actual words exchanged.

Brimmer was trying to get under his skin whilst he waited to take the pen.
