They made the right call. A touch off a defender that isn't deliberate doesn't negate offside. Also, there's a section that a player who is making a "save" (not just the keeper, any defender) near the goal, that also doesn't negate offside. Considering that it was effectively a shot at goal then either way it's offside.

When you look at the replay I thought the Mariners player toes the ball away deliberately........ Goal didn't count....lol

There's actually something to be said for that.  

It reduces disappointment in what would otherwise be a perennially frustrating situation.
