I think we are all in agreement as much as we like Babbel's pressers and the bright start to the season it really has fallen apart, but we have a number of players that are under performing and yesterday was no different. Jurman since our first bye has been suspect, Mcgowan has been patchy, Schwegler defensively still sound but in possession very suspect as the weeks have gone by but the biggest issue by far is our attackers. Duke seems to be trying to do it on his own and doesn't link up as well as when we had started the season. You have Muller who has gotten better as the season has gone but again doesn't link up well but the times he has often there is opportunity for us to score and then the biggest problem is Yeboah. Now I like Yeboah but geez he is having a shocking season his confidence is down he is frustrated and it shows. before the injury he was leading the line for us but ever since the injury he hasn't looked himself. The problems are far deeper than just the coach we have squad that is grossly under performing

I actually disagree that the players are lazy.... Certainly last night! I have a quite different perspective on last night's game than I've read on here and other places. I thought that for a team low on confidence with some regulars out, no striker and one (at least) returning from injury we actually did pretty well against a top three team, reigning premiers and one of the best attacks of the A League. Forneroli has been one of the success stories of the A League - he's been a little slower getting going this year but still banging in some good goals and doesn't need much space. Castro is still one of the top couple of A League players and could get a start in any team. These two run rings around teams but were kept pretty quiet last night. Forneroli was reduced to diving, falling and living up to his moniker, Fakeroli. He was pathetic and sucked the ref in a few times. Castro ran backwards more often than not. McGowan/Elrich worked hard on Forneroli (except for one slip up and a soft goal). Zeigler and Schwegler kept Castro relatively quiet. Jurman kept Chianese under control. This was an adjustment in style and set up and it largely worked (except for a soft goal). Lopar hardly raised a sweat on a muggy night. We didn't have the class up front but moving to a front 2 with Duke and Yeboah looked much better. Duke and Muller had freedom to move around and Kamau (he frustrates the hell out of me normally) I thought was pretty good. He and Elrich kept Meredith relatively under control - he tore up Jets and has been pretty good. We also weren't overrun in the midfield. For me, the players do put in but are sometimes clueless about what to do - the much-vaunted lack of a plan (thought I saw one last night). I still reckon our problems come from not having the front man who can make the right runs and finish, so there is nowhere for the ball to go up front. Perth sat back and went into the old Popa style kick long and run - very different from how they've been playing and I suggest that at least part of this was we actually played alright. There have been a few games where we've played alright but without the right person up front to make the right run, get that last ball and finish, we have not had anywhere to go and have to retreat. I think we often assume introverted players who are not outwardly demonstrable are lazy, disinterested and don't want to be part of the team. Perhaps they are just internalizing their responses and trying make it work. Not everyone has the outward demonstrable stuff of Georgevski or Zeigler.

Was talking to my son who put up an "all the best" to Markus and his wife on her instagram - he got a lovely response saying that they were both very sad but understood that without the results there was not much to do other than sack him. She wished us and the club all the best and reinforced that they both think the supporters are amazing and hopes success is coming soon. Classy again.

What a class guy. I think most of us really wanted it to work (apart from a couple of point scorers).. Don't think I ever seen a sacked (or mutually terminated manager) make such a speech, he clearly bought into the club and the League. I'm totally at a loss as to why it didn't work, but it didn't.

You’re right, Babbel could have left without saying anything. He also could have leaked to the media everything that was going on behind the scenes & who are the people to blame. Could have blown up the rest of the season if he wanted. Instead he goes out & says that, then somehow the club are to blame for the manager wanting to go out in the right way? I mean

I am wondering about players and coaches form higher level leagues in A League. I am really trying to think about how many players from the very top leagues (and coaches) have actually made it here? Most of the players that have excelled have been from lower leagues where there is more grunt and less technical ability. It seems to me that players and coaches who are used to high levels of technical play (as opposed to physical and more kick and run that we see in A League - even last night where Reddy kicked as long as possible for them to run onto) don't get A League adn find it hard to come down to a different level of football - it is a big change to make. I kind of wonder whether Babbel still overrated his players - especially the locals - expecting them to be able to hold to a higher technical style, reading the game and responding, understanding a tactical strategy that is more technical than our lot are used to. I cannot believe that he has no clue about tactics. I wonder if it is more that he (like some of the players from higher leagues) aren't able to adjust to a very different and probably much lower technical style that is more physical and grunt?

Anyone else a bit concerned with Lederer's comments regarding the players? Apparently we have an excellent squad and he has total faith in them. Well I reckon we have a squad lacking in depth and creativity, but that's just me. Starting to think what Lederer knows about football you could write on the back of a postage stamp and still have room for The Gettysburg Address.

Who is making these decisions? Is it JP running the football side of the club or is it the owners? Lots of people calling for JP to be cleared out, but unless he is making the football decisions then it isn’t on him. Is it the case that Lederer is the one making the decisions? Or is it the case that Lederer is just the public face of the 4 other owners & they are making the decisions together? Me too, I thought he was the perfect personality we needed. Off the pitch & media wise perfect but unfortunately he wasn’t able to manage this group of players. Tactically he seemed to be from a different era, one where you sent out the players & they won it for you (much in the mould of wenger). Unfortunately the game has evolved to the club having an identity, a way of playing, game specific plans, team specific plans & individuals given instructions & options on what to do. It seems like this was not Babbel’s modus operandi. I’m with you here but I am concerned about what that hack journalist said as it seemed to imply that JPdm was running the show. He is pathetic but at times there isn’t smoke without fire? I just hope that things don’t implode the same way that happened once Popa left.

The only saving grace for JP is that he apparently tried to undermine Babbel. Treacherous yes, but the thought crossed my mind once or twice in the last few months. Plus if he was trying to undermine him to get the top job....he did it. I like a manager he sets goals and achieves them

The thing that makes me nervous with caretaker coaches stepping in, who were previously the assistant...... If the players would not "get-up" for the head coach, but all of a sudden play like world beaters for the 2IC and show a bit of pride for the club, then what kind of culture is at the joint that they are deliberately not putting in to get the coach sacked? Do not like this at all, no matter what way it plays out.

I’ve been super critical of Babbel for his coaching ability. To be fair to him though, it takes some balls to front up to the media like he did before and after the game yesterday. He seems like a thoroughly decent human being, it’s just a shame he showed next to no coaching ability at the Wanderers. This next appointment is absolutely crucial. The board has to get it right, we’ve been **** for too many seasons now.

Ok, so you do believe in Climate Change and that it is caused by carbon emissions? That's a start. So if we are agreed that climate change is real, and caused by carbon emissions, then do you think it wise to reduce carbon emissions, in attempt to slow or stop it? BTW I'm not sure where the simplistic theory of if you pay more tax it will fix it, as come from (unless you own a large power station)? I don't know of anyone who has put that forward as theory.

I disagree strongly with this. First of all - even the deniers mostly admit that it is happening, it's just they dispute whether it's man made (because they know better than all the scientists, the only explanation for which is that the scientists are ALL involved in a massive conspiracy). Which means - yes, we should do something about it; it doesn't really matter the cause, it's happening, so, what can be done to try and limit the damage, protect people, etc etc. THere are differences of course then in terms of what should be done, but it should be SOMETHING. Then, even for those whackos who think it ISN'T changing and can ignore that we haven't had a year below average in Australia for like 40 years or whatever it is and that natural disasters (like the worst one we've ever had this summer) aren't happening.... even then; Fossil fuels WILL run out so it is smart economically speaking to be ahead of the 8-ball. Living sustainably IS smart because it means we don't have to import as much, which is costly and doesn't do much for our local economies Other places around the world clearly believe it IS happening, so if we can gear our industry towards the kind of technologies and approaches THEY want, it will also be a smart move. Instead these ****heads are so hellbent on not being wrong in a debate they are going to **** us all.

The challenge for the ALP to win government is you are swimming against a tide of "talk back, Sky after dark, News major papers we have created a large group of people who no matter what you say and do simply refuse to accept the evidence." It's near impossible for Labor to win, you have to go back to Kevin 07 to find a labor leader that took government from the Libs and Hawke prior to that (others retained a Labor government). You need to be an exceptional leader to do it. For all Rudds faults (and there where many) he was/is a great communicator. I'm a big Gillard fan but while she won an election it was still returning a labor government. St Albo, patron saint of craft brewing vinyl issues of Radio Birdman, will struggle against the sheer tide of reality denying bullshit New Ltd, Tele, Australia, 7, 9, Talk Back Radio, right wing nut jobs on twitter ….

The issue is that the mainstream right wing parties in three countries have been taken over and become beholden to a bunch of far right wingnuts, who won't believe in anything that doesn't support their ideology. There is no reason why somebody who is economically and socially conservative can't believe in and lead meaningful action in climate change. I just can't see it from either the Trump lead republicans, Boris and his mates, or Liberal party lead by pentagostal and contains the likes of Craig Kelly I'm generally suspicious of the religious rights, ability to believe in climate change, as if you base your values off "faith" than that isn't a good start to be able to look at science @theseeker I hope is the The Seeker of a reaction

Take Morrison out of it for a moment lets just deal with should we act our Emissions per person are amongst the highest in the world as present we are no position to ask anyone else to slow their emissions - If Australia is going to lead in any way on Carbon Reduction and climate change (which given the effect it is having and is likely to have here) we should, then we need to be acting. We can’t meaningfully be lecturing India, China and others to do something if we aren’t willing to do it ourself - By acting now the technology we develop will be our new export industry to those countries as they transition too, solar etc rather than we keep digging coal out of the ground as demand drops and prices fall, so economically it makes sense in the longer term - Apart from our high emissions per person, we export coal around the world which is burnt and creates more emissions our impact is high, added the we buy loads of stuff from China which during production there was a bunch of carbon produced - we are a first world nation we have the capacity and duty to lead the way - it’s eventually going to happen, and I’d rather be at the front than the back when it does Besides, I didn’t think you believed in climate change? If climate change isn’t real then why would Australia act?

Its not about left V right.... thats what gets me so offside.... people who defend or attack based on a political party.... its about maths, science ... FFS we have demonstrations outside our embassy's ... The last election was lost on economic polices by a poorly run ALP.... The Libs will come to rue the day they attached their wagon to the coal & oil industries... it simply needs a smart leader in the ALP...
