I love we sign a former Swiss international with 250 plus games in a top flight European league, straight out of a BL season and the comments on Facebook find something to whinge about “never heard of him” ”retirement league” what do they expect? Mo Salah to turn up?

It's the FFA that need to be dealing with this, but as usual, they will do nothing because this incident is a result of a match under their control. It appears (via current information provided) that Rory has had accessibility to this particular disabled accessible bathroom all season while the ground has been under the control of ESFC. It makes sense. Once we get to a finals game and the FFA have control, it all turns to ****. They put in draconian controls and the seccos and cops are under instruction to enforce without restriction. It's just bewildering that we have arrived in a day and age where a person just cannot ask to go and check out a disabled toilet facility before he takes his daughter there to use. Then, it turns into this **** fight, not only at the ground itself, but all over all forms of social and electronic media. (Yes Hadley, I'm ******* looking at you!). It just sickens me. The FFA will do nothing. Pure and simple. Some of the board members may huff and puff a little, but they will NOT come out in support of this family and challenge the NSW policing nor the media. I listened to an interview on 702 this morning with an "unofficial spokesman" from The Cove. He was brilliant, and fought the fight we have all been arguing for years. Yet Wendy Harmer and Robbie Buck just didn't get it. https://www.abc.net.au/radio/sydney/programs/breakfast/breakfast/11085772 It's towards the end of the show, so about 1 hr.30 in. It just saddens me, that after so many good years, with the initial introduction of our club and the lift it gave to the league and crowds in particular, that Gallop and his cronies have let it come to this. And they cry poor, now that the money is not pouring into the game and active support has all but been desecrated. The reason, you ****-knuckles that the game was riding high before WAS DUE TO PROPER ACTIVE SUPPORT! Thanks for destroying it. You wanted family friendly as well, and now you are destroying that. **** me!!

The FB family has a lot of passion and a lot of NFI. The player market in Germany is congested at the best of times. For a Swiss citizen to have an uninterrupted run in BL plus one year in BL2 since 2006 speaks volumes. That he captained a BL side for three years is also noteworthy. He's played more BL games than all other HAL players with BL experience together. His solitary year in BL2 was the low point in his career, and it was as high as Adlung made it. He does not come out of the Brazilian wilderness like Treejack, but straight from the BL. You can count the number of equally accomplished players in 15 years HAL on the fingers of one hand. This is a spectacular signing, it sends a message of intent.

We have four owners who collectively are worth easily half a billion dollars. Lederer wrote that "we have not taken our eyes off the prize" in January Ribery comes up and they bottle it because they don't want to spend the year the club moves into a stadium that was built for free at a cost of $360 million dollars. That's money that the owners don't have to pay. Almost any other country in the world if a club wants a stadium the owners have to pay for it. Here, the Government did it. Especially after 3 seasons of utter **** on the pitch, and the one before that ended in a choke where we didn't win anything, you'd think the owners would jump at the chance to fill the stadium and sign a player who could win games on his own. Yet here we are watching high class players sail over our heads so that Lederer can sit in the executive box and count the membership money instead of investing like an owner should. If Lederer owned a club in Europe and did what he's done to WSW by being cheap and refusing to open his chequebook they'd have been relegated multiple times already. Lederer talks and talks and talks and talks and uses "we built an academy" as an excuse for not signing good players. If he and the owners don't like being called cheap they can open up their musty wallets and show some ambition. Or sell the club to someone who does.

Not sure how ANY WSW fan can be upset with 90% of our squad leaving in the cleanout. Babbel said it best - this squad came 7th and 8th consecutively. Change is needed. You can't keep a core of a squad that has performed so badly 2 (3) years running. Need a clean slate.

Orial Reira we will miss the most of the departing players. 25 goals in 49 appearances not including FFA cup and pre-season goals in a team that came 7th and 8th. Those defensive headers and tracking back, general play we will miss. He had a rough patch for much of this year I cannot deny that but lifted with the additions of Yeboah and Duke in the squad and you saw the Reira from the previous season, he turned it around for himself and that is a compliment to the kind of player he is.

    Western Sydney Stadium Open

I see they didn't go with the circular dressing room like Melbourne City did. ------- The devil, as always, is in the detail. Like the fact that the senior pitches at the Wanderers’ new training centre are the same size as Bankwest Stadium’s, to the centimetre. Like the fact that the floodlights on every one of the nine pitches will be, with 500lux LED power, so bright you could broadcast an FFA Cup game on TV. Like the orientation of the gym and its floor to ceiling windows that mean a player in rehab is just yards away from the training pitches and visually connected. And like the blinds on the windows in the media centre, ready to secure training sessions from prying eyes. It’s not just on game day that the new season promises so much for Western Sydney. After years of training in the midst of children’s athletics carnivals, with dressing rooms so far removed they were almost in a different suburb, the Wanderers players will return for pre-season at the $15m centre of excellence that has been years in the making. Off-field staff will be in much sooner - Monday in fact, and there was a noticeable spring in the step of staff moving their equipment across on Friday morning, even in pouring rain. As a way of drawing a line under the past two seasons it is hugely symbolic, but the facility is all about the future. Three pitches are ready now and the other six will be in use by January, housing the A-League and W-League teams right down to the youngest junior teams on one 11ha site. The complex was designed after chairman Paul Lederer and CEO John Tsatsimas toured elite clubs around the world and garnered ideas from all of them. The female teams have their own dedicated changing rooms. All of the academy coaches share an office with Markus Babbel. And at the centre of it all is the $1m gym which means for the first time the A-League players will scarcely have to leave the site during their working day. A coffee shop tender has just been awarded to provide a base for parents while their children train in the academy teams, and eventually a licensed club will follow to allow supporters to use the complex. Famously there are no registration fees charged to those players. “In this area, there are people who can afford it, but there are lots who can’t,” said Lederer. “It would be a travesty if young talented kids couldn’t play because they can’t afford to.” The whole site has been leased from Blacktown City Council, who will maintain the pitches. “Having the Wanderers based here gives hope and inspiration to local residents, there’s a pathway from local teams right up to the A-League,” said mayor Steve Bali. In every sense, the Wanderers are coming home. Now they just have to start winning again.

Georgievski 2 year deal https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/football/a-league/western-sydney-wanderers-sign-daniel-georgievski-from-newcastle-jets/news-story/6a0bc74d939c8304e3daf31bacd21c9d Five years ago, when Daniel Georgievski signed his first A-League contract with Melbourne Victory, he took a trip home to find a bunch of relatives wearing Western Sydney jerseys. The Blacktown-born full-back had just returned from a seven-year stint playing in Europe and quietly joined Kevin Muscat’s big guns south of the border. Not that his extended family knew right away. “When I came back to Sydney to see everyone my cousins rocked up in Wanderers jerseys and told me I’d picked the wrong club,” Georgievski said. “They supported them even before I was in Australia. But my parents don’t support anyone other than wherever I’m playing.” Now he’s back in the city he left as an 18-year-old, finally wearing the red and black on a two-year move he hopes will not only calm the family football feud but also offer a compelling new chapter to his increasingly well-travelled career. In the ultimate familial sacrifice, some of Georgievski’s relatives eventually peeled themselves away from the Wanderers to follow the path of the Marconi Stallions junior and Macedonian international. First at Victory, where he won the 2014-15 A-League double and 2015 FFA Cup, and won the 2016-17 the Joe Marston Medal despite losing that grand final. Then to Newcastle where, in his first season, he was part the club’s remarkable wooden-spoon-to-grand-final run only to lose that controversial VAR-influenced decider against the club he’d just left. Indeed, every campaign since Georgievski first moved to Romania in 2012 has produced either a trophy, close brush with a title or an Asian Champions League knockout-stage run. “In that sense this year (missing the finals) was one of the hardest I’ve had to swallow in my career,” he said. And even though the vibe in the Hunter remained great, the Jets only offered him a one-year extension. So when Markus Babbel came calling with a two-year deal at the turn of the new year he snapped it up. Now, reunited with former Victory assistant Jean-Paul de Marigny, he’ll return with a clutch of zealous fans in tow - even if it is just for the blood link. “They’re now getting back to Parramatta where they had their best years,” he said. “To be a part of that is a big thing.”

Is anyone surprised by the riot squad following him and his family to Maccas? We heard of cops and Hatamoto following WSW fans in the early years as they made their way to their cars or train stations. Not sure what they hoped to achieve by following him and 3 young girls. He left the vicinity, their job was done. But its ok to let brawls happen every week at the AFL and no security in sight for the entirety of the brawl.

The sad thing is I knew the guy was going to get smeared the moment it started getting traction. NSW Police are following the USA textbook, just that in the US it's usually only done after they murder someone or get someone seriously hurt or killed because of their mistakes. In Australia it's normally used for working class people who managed to upset certain politicians (eg Duncan Storrar who was destroyed by the Murdoch media for daring to ask a question on Q&A) or Aboriginal people who have no way to fight back against the system, eg the children detailed at Don Dale in the NT such as Dylan Voller or Tom Hickey whose death was the catalyst for the Redfern Riot in 2004. Immediately attack the victim, leak to friendly media, lie about the circumstances and use language that downplays the role of the Police in causing the problem. DARVO. Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim & Offender. Attacked the victim by smearing in the media. First thing is go to Ray Hadley. "He was drunk", "He only wanted different beer", "He never had access to that area previously", "He assaulted a security officer" and in the last half-hour, "was banned from ANZ 2 years ago" as if that matters in this situation. Then the Assistant Commissioner comes out lies on camera while repeatedly saying he doesn't know what actually happened, just spouting off misinformation directly from the officers/security involved without having bothered to investigate the issue. Of course, nothing will happen. Just like nothing happened after the Pepper Spray incident at Parramatta. Why would anything happen? The state just voted back in the corrupt police & nanny state loving party who approve of these "tough on crime" methods.

The four guys we signed so far all send a message of intent. They are leaders, the self-driven guys we didn't have enough of last season, according to MB. The spine will be as strong as. The GK will be worth the description, Ziegler is a BL2 player who will feel like a new addition, Schwegler comes with 10 years plus BL experience (and captained BL sides), on paer Majewski is on par with Smurf FC's Adrian Pole. And if the CF is the guy that I am hearing about then he'll be a step up from Le Fondre. Duke, Yeboah, Georgievski have all played overseas - that's eight players who know what it means to be a football pro in a serious league/club. Add Elrich, Kamau, Baccus, Tass, Tate, Grozos. All that's missing is another CB, a holding mid, and a winger. We are going to make some serious music at Bankwest.

Wonder who leaked these documents No complaints? Nothing to see here folks, stock standard dismissal. Everything above board. Nobody seemed to raise any issue over the AS sacking, all amicably dealt with by the FFA & clearly nothing has happened over the last few months. This is why Lowy & co didn’t want to implement any of these pesky little FIFA statutes. Oversight, who needs that Hoping that common sense prevails & the documents are released. Transparency is a must as we move forward.

FFA thought they won checkmate after they stalled to prevent the ban appeal process coming in, along with all their other agreements. They stalled and stalled and finally got their "family friendly" atmosphere at Victory and WSW games after both clubs went in to try and kill off the active groups. What good did it do? The A-League has lost 2600 people per game from the average regular season crowd season 2013/14 the year after WSW joined the league. The TV ratings tanked so badly Fox is looking to ditch the league or at the very least pay a much lower amount for the rights. How Gallop still has a job is beyond me.

There is so much wrong with this incident that happened last night. The guy is a smurf but one of the good guys who supports the game & it hurts to see someone like this treated in this manner. Where do you start? It boils down to the fact that his disabled daughter needed to go to the toilet. Led to security evicting the father & daughter before the riot squad was called because he was “acting aggressively” (see the footage for yourself). I can’t even try to break down everything wrong with what happened let alone the big picture in what it has meant to the A-League & football fans. Right now I just feel for the dad & his daughter. Nobody deserves to be treated in that way, let alone a child who already has many challenges in her life, nor a father wanting to take his child to sporting event. It is just ****ed up, in so many ways. You just hope that out of such a disgusting & distressing event that there may be a positive that may come from it all.

Okazaki - 100 odd BL games and 100 odd PL games. That should fix it. MB knows him from the BL. This would put the mind of those at rest who thought of RoD as too old and too small. Ribery won't come because we get him, but because he wants to. Stadium, training facility, standard of the league - all that will mean very little. What matters most is what the priorities of the Ribery family are. The kids lived most of their lives in Munich - Qatar and UAE with their restrictions would come as a shock. MB is genuinely impressed by the lifestyle in Sydney, he loves it here. If he explains to Ribery family that there is a thing called the toaster, that you can watch the fireworks from there, that you can walk up to the Manly Ferry, and head over to the beach in 20 minutes, that should make an impression on the kids. Bayern is a family club at heart. MB has been saying in the German media that he works with "top guys" at WSW. This will matter to Ribery who is used to the club having his back (and at times he needed it too!). It seems impossible that he'd join WSW, he just seem too big. But I thought the same about Babbel. If we ever had a chance to score a really big name, then this is it. So let's just see what happens.

Do you guys remember when the FFA released their 4 year "strategic" plan in 2016? If you can't, don't go looking for it because it was here: https://www.myfootball.com.au/dct/ffa-dtc-performgroup-eu-west-1/13152_FOOTBALL_FFA Strategy Infographic_A4_FINAL_15j708y6a5m5o1i2xdzwc3cjf0.PDF It divided opinion at the time (it was ****). One of the problems with it was that there was no actual targets - they vaguely said that their goal for the A-league was increased tv ratings, but never said what number they were aiming for. The ONLY area they had specific targets were the performances of the national teams at major tournaments (the area with the most luck involved!!). The Socceroos were to make it out of their group at the 2017 Confed Cup and 2018 World Cup, and the Matildas were to make the semis of the 2019 World Cup. At the time I was scathing, saying it was typical of them to have a target in an area they have the least control over. How silly of me. They have a huge impact on the teams' chances to win. A negative one. They have totally sabotaged this team. One week before the World Cup they release this! They've had 4 ******* months. It's almost like they are intentionally setting out to undermine the campaign. Releasing information that could disrupt the team is the kind of thing that your rivals do, or the media, or the media of your rivals, NOT your own FA. How many times do we have to ask "how many times can they **** up"? The Matildas were the jewel in the crown, surely there is nothing left for them to ruin.

They just come out and say that Foxtel's broadcast metrics are a higher priority than "fairness and competition integrity". Also not playing everyone the same number of times is crap. For all the nonsense that Australia has a larrikin culture that like to stick it to the man, the reality is we are a subservient over regulated bunch. We kick up little fuss and as a general rule accept massive state overreach as a matter of course. Both sides of the political spectrum have their own ways of cultivating an acceptant ideology. When the story broke and was a lead on many online outlets, I was optimistic, but the narrative has been established by the powers that be, it's now about defending against character assassination. WSW 18/19 & 19/20 Club Thread

Last year the players didn't believe in what Gombau plans and tactics were. It was so obvious that Gombau called in Cornthwaite to confirm it. We also had various player interviews that made it clear the players thought they were better than they were doing, that they knew more than Gombau and it was all his fault. And Gombau was sacked for these things. This year, new manager, same results. High paid Players get shitty when Duke and Yeboah show up and some of them get dropped. Owners won't give players the ability to sack two coaches in 12 months. Especially not a highly touted European coach who also happened to be a world class player. No-one but Riera was even remotely in the same level as a player. Babbel would have more appearances and goals just at Bayern than most of our squad have in their career. Could you imagine Cornthwaite, whose biggest club was a mid table K-League team that never won anything, coming back at Babbel who won the European Championship with Germany, played in the Champions League and World Cup? Babbel might not win the league next year, but he doesn't tolerate player power bullshit. We need that almost as much as we need good recruitment and tactics.
