  1. ONE OF THE BEST GAMES I HAVE EVER BEEN TO (Mind you I went to the Roar 5-4 semi) What an absolutely incredible game. Me and a few mates train to Kogarah and sit in the 3 row long RBB and belt it out for more than 90+ minutes. Extremely nervous before the game but something felt right and good about this game. Something just clicked. Unbelievable. We started really good first 5 minutes when Sydney woke up and started to do their thing. Few chances for Muller, Cox, Duke and Georgevski but unable to convert. Just before half time I said can't believe we hadn't conceded when Barbarouses

  2. Hatty, your story is awful and there is no justification for anyone receiving that treatment - especially a child. As others have said there are a small group of people in every club's supporter base that are plain idiots or worse. I feel sad (angry) when anyone is exposed to vile treatment and abuse simply because they support a different club - this is only sport. So let me tell you my story - one about my son. I wasn't at the game. It is too hard to get to and the ground has difficulties with any decent crowd. My son is much older than yours. He is in his early 20's. He's a good

  3. Firstly, there is no way we let JP go unless we knew CR was coming on board, so the club didn't do that. They lined up CR first, and then told JP he was excess to requirements. Give the club some credit. Despite what many might believe, they are NOT complete amateur's. 2ndly, CR came on board and then had what, 4 - 6 weeks to strengthen our squad? The fact he was able to bring in Dorrens, Ibini, Troisi, Margush and Ziggy in such a short time speaks volumes about his commitment and influence. He's not mucking around. He has already turfed some of the youth that he saw had no future with th

  5. Glad Cox got a goal. Whatever you think of his skill and effort on the pitch it’s a huge decision to remain with the club and he should be commended for it.

  6. This is my take, I'm going to waffle for one or two sentences and that is for a reason. Ok I live in Adelaide and my son Jordan O'Doherty used to play for Adelaide United but now plays for WSW and I am a Millwall fan. About 6/7 years he played in the NPL final against SFC at bluetongue WSW v CCM was the game afterwards. Towards the end of the NPL final we saw the WSW march coming down the hill. We got speaking to a couple of WSW oldies who were already in the lower level seats and they said this happens every game. The RBB got inside the stadium an hour before kick off and

  7. The owners consider the youth factory the crown jewel of the club. They poured roughly 20 million dollars of their own money into the facilities at Blacktown. That’s the investment they’ve made into the future of the club. Cheapskates? Lederer out? The vision is having Westies play for the West at HAL level. A manager who ignores that vision will pay the price. Gombau did, and so has JP. Both showed no interest in youth development, did not go to youth games, did not nurture young talent. Both time the club was quick to react. JT has history with the Jets, he had his finger on the pu

Jurmans tackle on him as he approached goal was brilliant, Tates ball in (as usual) was brilliant, the whole team was brilliant. Could’ve won by 3 with the chances made. One of the best derbies I’ve been to. Can we play them every week? 😂

  10. The whole Kogarah Derby thing was interesting. Having special trains to/from Central was good, although it seemed not too many people actually used them. The police were hopelessly prepared and briefed. It was as if they had no idea how to manage crowds. There were a few at the station, when we arrived, but not many as we walked down the road. Rather than let large crowds gather at corners near the station… maybe stop traffic when the train comes it and let the crowd move as quickly as possible to the ground? Luckily supporters, for both teams, were in good spirits and seemed to just

A proper journalist may have wondered why a capo got thrown out for standing on a seat when it’s done all the time, or why none of the cove were thrown out for doing exactly the same thing during the game. Maybe ask some questions, do some investigating, you know, journalist stuff.

  14. Que? We’re only a third through the season and we’re 5 behind the leaders with a game in hand. Plenty of points to be won and dropped by all teams between now and the end of the season. And for a team that has a new coach and a whole bunch of new players, we are in a great position to launch a title challenge.

So can someone actually answer why Lachlan Rose is so hyped? Pretty sure he had no successful dribbles and Ziggy didn’t break a sweat keeping him contained, yet fox sports and especially Speed acts like he’s the Australian Messi. God help us if he ever scores. Pretty sure the entire fox sports commentary team will spontaneously combust.

  17. I was thinking back to S1 where had that kind of luck. Eight years on we seem to have all forgotten just how lucky were were at times. The first 10 rounds were hit and miss, lots of effort and hard work, but no convincing performances. We could easily have lost all four games against the Roar, but won them all. The 2-1 against the VIC on NYD when Finkler did his knee in early in the game, that win set the tone for 2013. Rd18 against Heart when Polenz was red carded, Ante saved the penalty, and Dino milked a penalty late in the game. We should never have won that that game. We should never

  18. a couple of thoughts on what we saw (disclaimer: i missed parts of second half due to australia's rubbish internet) ...... if we are going to play this 352 that it looks like we are set on, we have some players mismatched to the system i think...... - cox is not a hold up the ball type guy. I saw a bit of him in the english lower leagues and he is a guy who likes to come deep to get the ball and operate between the lines - can't do that in this set up because troisi is in the way. so he ends up being the first pass out of defence instead and then trying to hold the ball up against bi

  19. Not going to read this report...too negative, I suspect, from the comments during the game. Congrats to the Bulls _ they looked impressive, with a phenomenal keeper in Federici! And for our team... didn't think we were too bad, but certainly there's room for improvement. It's the first game of the season. Too early to write us off yet!

  21. First home win and clean sheet of the season! 1st wasn't bad, 2nd half very positive, id say we got a 60-70 minute performance tonight. Natta my MOM, he made a fair few last ditch tackles and was quality the whole night, this kid is special. Should've gotten on the score sheet. Unfortunate that Dorrans will miss the next game, however his quality and effort tonight was outstanding, he is now showing how quality he is. That goal for Yeboah will hopefully give him so much confidence. We always talk about "What if Bulut wasn't offside, the confidence it would've given him". No

  23. I think the cause of this mess is that our foundation coach Tony Popovic left and after that nobody knew what to do. Tony was a control freak and made all the decisions, probably getting His way with most things and challenged the owners and CEO. It worked and we won stuff as everyone was on the same page. when tony left then suddenly all these people At the club had to work out how to make decisions and work together but have failed miserably. This is similar to Alex Ferguson leaving Manchester United. A big fall from grace. unfortunately now wsw have a club owner who towers over ev

  28. I was going to post my thoughts on the game in the other thread but thanks Mack for making a post-game thread. I'm happy with this result and I hope it'll be another season where the lads either draw or win against the Smurfs all season and keep the streak alive. You can see the whole squad is improving every game and I don't think anyone had a horrible game (except for Muller's blunder which I'll mention below) Troisi's penalty will be the most controversial penalty so far this season. I thought nothing would beat the blander they had last week with Rufer but it seems the A-League o

  31. Lederer is the public face of the ownership group. The others are practically invisible and have to my knowledge have never openly talked about their involvement. He is also a billionaire, being significantly more wealthy than the other owners. Tsatsimas is the CEO, and runs the club day to day and doing what Lederer tells him to do (since reportedly Lederer is making the big decisions on his own). Lederer was the one who said in 2017: "Mark my words, we have a bold plan for this football club and I look forward to having Josep lead our team this season and beyond." We finished 7th in 201

  32. Great little away trip. How the FFA didn’t give a spot to Wollongong is beyond me. Plenty of locals in the stands and a fantastic boutique stadium in a great location. Had that been non-COVID times and an actual Wollongong team, that place would have been packed out. Parking was easy and close, good food and entertainment choices nearby and a beautiful view that maybe tops the Sauce Bottles in Gosford. Just imagine Wollongong and Canberra in the league and the support that they would have received in their communities and from travelling fans. Both very appealing away trips f

  33. On the car trip home. What a gritty bloody win. Mariners football is disgustingly dirty and should’ve had at least a red card or 2. Margush could be one of the pickups of the season. So happy he got his first clean sheet. Gordon is my favourite Wanderers player. After the game when the players celebrated with us, they had finished and were walking back. Ziggy turned around and gave us the most passionate fist pump and scream leading to everyone in the RBB singing his name while they left. He has become a fan favourite in 4 games. Tass I didn’t notice too much but he s

  35. Some really good stuff in that second half when baccus & dorrans took control of the game. One big observation on our game overall is that our defenders & keeper don't have the skill level to play out from the back under pressure. That first half we could barely get the ball out of our defensive third and even at times in the second we looked a big chance to concede from a mistake. Sometimes the keeper just needs to wave everyone forward, play the percentages and smack it long. I try not to criticise refs too much but in these derbies you almost feel resigned to the reality t

  36. The thing that doesn’t add up about argument that Troisi had eye contact with Ninkovic is that it ignores the fact Nickovic had eye contact with Troisi and ran straight at him. Made no effort to go around him and went down holding his chest like he’d been hit by a car, which makes me even more sure he went looking for it. My biggest worry was that the squad wasn’t ready at the start of the season and we’d drop too many points early on. We were definitely well underdone for the Macarthur game but we were good enough against the Jets and took a point away against last years benchmark. If we

Had to fly from Ecuador to Miami, then the next day to San Francisco, which got cancelled and subsequently changed to Chicago and then San Fran, and then Sydney. So total travel time of about 2 days, most of which was through the epicentre of the virus right now. But I don't seem to have got it yet. 42. Glad normal service has been resumed. Of course once a capo or any central figure is evicted like that it's the responsibility of others to defend him. That's a simple principle. The way the police then pushed and beat and frog marched us back to Carlton Station was insane. As was the line of police on horseback batoning anyone in front of them not moving fast enough or protesting. The thugs were in blue. Fantastic win. If the season ends now I'm content. At last we became something to be respected on and off the pitch.

  43. I mentioned this in my original post. Saying "just score more goals" is a massive oversimplification. If we just take all our chances we'd go through the season undefeated and win everything, that's not how football works. Also I don't agree that it's rare for a refereeing decision to change the outcome of a game when it involves a penalty call. Last season 21 of our 27 games had a one goal margin or were a draw. One goal more or one goal less in any of those games that make up 78% of our season and it changes the result. League wide last season it was 67%. If the referee makes a mistake

  44. Magush, Natta, Aquilina, Russell, Tass, Baccus - a very young/inexperienced setup at the back did not concede, and stood its ground in last night's ankle kicking comp. Considering the lineup, this win is significant. Last season we leaked goals with a senior backline, lacked fitness, and we might just have lost the game in the last 15 mins. Mueller is our best football player, very happy for him to have scored the winner. Gordon is our most effective player, the defensive version of Dino.

  47. I actually liked the way we played. I could see we were playing a more attacking 5-3-2, where in attack, both fullbacks pushed up. For much of the first half, we were able to dictate play. And then Macarthur figured us out. What they did was instead of pressing the defence with three players, they pressed with two. That extra man meant the midfield became congested. More importantly, they realised both fullbacks were pushing up so they just played through balls into that space. There were so many crosses we had to defend for that reason. In the second half, both teams reset and
