  • The Professional Footballers Association has recognised the Wanderers brilliant inaugural season by naming four members of the Premiership winning club in the annual Player Of The Year squad.

     

    The team, which is voted on by the players, included the following Western Sydney Wanderers players:

    • Ante Covic
    • Jerome Polenz
    • Nikolai Topor-Stanley
    • Shinji Ono

    Tony Popovic was named PFA Manager of the Year.

     

    The Full PFA Squad is:

    • Goalkeeper: Covic.
    • Defenders: Polenz, Topor-Stanley, Sainsbury (CCM), Traore (MV).
    • Midfield: Ono, Milligan (MV, named as Captain), McGlinchey (CCM).
    • Forwards: Brockie (WP), Del Piero (SFC), Rojas (MV)
    • Substitutes: Galekovic (AU), Thwaite (PG), Carrusca (AU), Thompson (MV), McBreen (CCM)
    • Manager: Tony Popovic.

    Parramatta Stadium in it's inaugural year as a full time A-League stadium has taken third place in the PFA Stadium Ratings, scoring a 3.81 out of 5.

    The PFA ratings saw Melbourne Victory's AAMI Park & Etihad Stadium take first and second place respectively with overall scores of 4.26 & 4.10, with the Wanderer's Parramatta Stadium in 3rd place with a 3.81 out of 5.

    The quality of the RBB's active support in their first year was recognised by taking 2nd place in the atmosphere category, behind Melbourne Victory, and in front of 3rd place Sydney FC.

    Parramatta Stadium was ranked in the following categories:
    • Pace - 4.15 (2nd)
    • Hardness - 3.62 (3rd)
    • Smoothness - 3.69 (4th)
    • Atmosphere - 4.27 (2nd)

    Melbourne Victory Captain Adrian Leijer spoke about the atmosphere generated across the A-League.

    "For years our fans have been the benchmark when it comes to support in the stands across the A-League, and as players, we certainly feel that it gives us an edge over our opponents. We know our fans will also take their support to another level in the coming seasons, now that Western Sydney's Red and Black Bloc are on the rise, and we can't wait to see it again when we take to the pitch."
