  • Daniel Severino in Bitter Twitter Race Rant

    mack

Daniel Severino launched an extraordinary attack on the Western Sydney Wanderers organisation over twitter last night.

Severino is currently playing for Marconi Stallions in the New South Wales Premier League. He previously picked up the wooden spoon with the defunct Gold Coast United. Overnight he used his Twitter account to attack the new club on a variety of fronts including race, politics, corruption and backdoor deals.

He blamed "racial politics" for David Vrankovic's move to Melbourne Heart over Western Sydney Wanderers.

Severino then proceeded to tweet that the club had made "lowsy (sic) signings" and that all at the club except for Aaron Mooy and Jarrad Tyson are "big time rejects".

Another comment was that football is being run by an "old boys club". That comment appeared to suggest that ex-players are involved in corruption and back door deal with the agents they used while they were players.

There was also an implication that the Wanderers had "neglected their own" by failing to sign Dylan McAllister in addition to Vrankovic.

Severino was considered one of the lead targets of Wanderers at the beginning of the life of the club, but after this vehement attack on the club it would seem extremely unlikely that he will be joining the club any time soon.

It remains to be seen if the Wanderers will respond to the allegations made online.

Update - Since this was published Severino deleted his tweets.

I would like to also confirm that at the time I did not know that Luke Casserly was the coach of Marconi football club. His comments were provided as the context for Severino's responses. There was never an intention to imply or suggest that Luke Casserly agreed with them. At his request I have removed his responses and questions.

seems really strange of him, does he have a background in western sydney or just felt like randomly attacking someone?

He played youth football for Marconi before he moved overseas, so I guess he lives around Fairfield.

Im pretty dirty aswell.. Its retarded to see a bright western syd player with a future having to go to another state to play a league.. Thats not right.. Wanderers should be picking the best and brightest players in our region..

So he should be dirty. Himself and Vrankovic should be in the red and black.

Maybe he didn't fit into popa's plans! Are we going to whinge and moan at every player that Wanderers don't sign!! It's a simple case that we can't sign every young Western Sydney player that comes through.

    Vrankovic is better then Beauchamp.

I back the decison not to sign McAllister every day of the week. As for Vrankovic I do not know the details. Maybe Hearts offer was better. Maybe popa didnt want him. Maybe he had a bad attitude or poor work ethic. Maybe he chose Heart over Sydney. Seems this guy is just having a poorley directed whinge. The Club does not need to sign every NSW state league player capable of playing in the A league just because we are based in Western Sydney

    I'm just stating my opinion.

I'm not gna attack Popa about it or anything. If I will, it will depend on our performances through the season.

    Agree with George and Kraken.

its not as simple as: good young player comes through the ranks in the nswpl, good young player joins WSW.

    There's alot of variables people

It seems to me that popa is taking his time looking at players and making sure he's had a good look at them before signing them. Sounds to me that Vrankovic didn't want to wait and the Heart were happy to sign him on reputation. McCallister... eh no big loss in my opinion.

Some things never change. Daniel has obviously not stopped to wonder if perhaps the reason why he has seen more clubs than Tiger Woods is wholly and solely his terrible attitude.

What an idiot. Sorry but to hell with severino. Wouldnt want him anywhere near us.

On Vrankovich, its clear as day. Hes obviously chose heart over a trial with us. At Heart he also has a better chance for a starting fullback role as they lost both there first choice cbs.

Mcallister?... Talk about contradicting himself. Ranting about lousy signings, and then complaining we didnt sign is former gold coast buddie in Mcallister?

    What a wanker!

I remember the club stating something about Vrankovic was offered a trial but knocked it back and he then chose a contract from Heart instead. His choice, good luck to him. As for Severino, meh.

    Can you blame Vrankovic?

    He had two choices.

A two year contract, or a trial.

Any of us here trying to persue a career as a pro footballer would have gone for the two year contract as well.

Melbourne heart are smart West Sydney are neglecting there own. And Vrankovic has every right to accept a 2 year deal over a trial... and McCallister a bit overrated.

I don't think anyone here is having a go at Vrankovic, but I'm sure he wouldn't be pleased to here Severino is using his name to talk sh1t

I love how he insinuates that all the players bar Mooy and Tyson are A-league rejects. Never mind that his former Gold Coast team mate Tyson is technically a reject. No surprise to see him not mention that.

    Absolute tosser.

WSW fans made it very clear at all the fan forums that we wanted community minded players who had big hearts.

This guy obviously doesn't fit the mould.

I actually feel kind of sorry for him. I mean he's deluded enough to think that Vrankovic wasn't signed just because he comes from a Serbian background. People like this need help.

even if this guy was as good as Messi i wouldnt want him, that attitude is poison
