Please Stop Using Short Corners

Short corners can be appropriate.... depending who is taking and receiving the ball. At least it's a relief from the tedium of teams constantly pumping crosses into the box in the hope that one of their own will get on the end of it... and I'm not just referring to corners. We were at our best last year when we held the ball and tried to work it through the opposition defence rather than just swinging it in. I always find it's teams that run out of ideas, or simply don't have the right level of skill and guile in the first place, that end up crossing the ball. That's why Polenz and Hersi are so effective... they're always looking to penetrate rather than just swinging it across and hoping for the best.

Great topic..I have been saying that for months..dont know why we persist, I havent seen one short corner that resulted in anything good...Ono is capable of much more.

Short corners are a joke! One of my pet hates for as long as I can remember. Kept telling anybody that cared to listen that I have never seen a goal from a short corner... Then a few years back a miracle happened and somebody scored from one in a match I was watching.

Short corners should be used sparingly, and taken quickly.

On a serious note, perhaps there is some method to the madness. 

I can't remember the exact stat but only a very small percentage of goals in the modern game come from corners. 

This is why it is almost a waste of energy when the crowd lift when a corner is taken ( well I suppose  it is psychological!)

Perhaps this variation in corners is a way of trying to improve the odds, to try something different.

Or maybe they just have no idea cos I must admit they are annoying when they are done with the frequency some teams have been doing them with. 

Short corners are great if they're done quickly in an attempt to catch out the defenders before they get set. Alternatively, they can also be effective if the tried and tested method hasn't worked, to try and get a different angle. However, from the HAL games I've seen 99% of the short corners are executed poorly and have little to no impact.

Another short corner turned sour & over last night but on the bright side saw a linesman check the depth of the net in front of 56 pre-game so someone is listening to JC.
