Benito Carbone carved it up for the Smurfs in the early years of the A League .Granted , he only played 4 games? , typical Smurfs fuucking up a great players contract, he would've been a superstar over here.

    Ladies and gents,

I am going to the game with my bro in law. Excited as it is our first trip to aami.

Keen to know if you are getting together somewhere before and possibly after the game. A few drinks here and there. I'll be in Melbourne all of Friday so happy to get there early...

Any updates on where it may happen would be greatly appreciated.

One very excited Wanderers fan. F.U C.K YEAHHH

The Portland Hotel is the usual place but not sure how many people are going for this game.

With the exception of Novillo and Foronalli... Sh*tteh's squad looks dead avg without Mooy being in the squad...

Crazy the first thing I saw when I entered Phuket airport was a freaking wanderers sticker dead straight in front of me on some signage, awesome work dudes.

Melbourne to fall to the red and black empire, pio hat-trick obviously

MC got plenty of goals in them from what I have seen so far they don't have issues scoring. I suspect it will be an entertaining game and predict us to fire on target this game with a 3-2 win

I'm not going to make it it Melbourne, but the Portland Hotel is a football friendly pub and on the right side of the city for a short walk down the Yarra to the game.

    They've been very welcoming before.

    Portland Hotel.

Might be jumping the gun a bit but do we normally get a big crowd to the away Mariners games?

Took my father in law to the Newcastle game at Hunter and we both had an absolute ball.. didn't realise the away games were so well supported (I'm a GA member at Pirtek).. Seriously considering moving to the active area next season, have hesitated because I take the missus and my two young boys (3 and 1.5 years old) but they would be fine now that I've experienced active support..

So... trying to get my best mate to come to the Mariners game for the whole pre-drinks/march thing but want to make sure it's a game that's well attended so I can hopefully convert him from league.. Also what pub does everyone drink at up there?

Newy was my first proper away as well and it blew me away. I knew we were well supported but I never had the chance to go as well. Provided I am not working I will be going to Gosford as well. That's well supported as well, it's an official Tour of Duty.

Regarding you joining active, come please. You can bring anyone you want. I don't think it's necessary to break stereotypes to WSW fans, but yeah it's not what you think. There are many families (including young children; sometimes I see toddlers too), old people, women and so on. There's enough room for everyone provided you can buy a membership. If the middle bays don't do it for you you can always move to the fringes (eg,57,58 or 54) where there might be a bit more room to stand and wiggle. The middle gets a bit rowdy sometimes, there will be moshing, beer showers and so on and while this is my cup of tea it's not everyone's, so if you join and that doesn't do for you there will always be room on the fringes.

Excellent.. looks like we'll be there then. What really bothers me with all the negative media that goes around about the RBB/WSW etc, even with supporters like myself is that subconsciously it does partly change your perception.. before I became a member or attended a game I wouldn't dream of bringing kids to Pirtek.. but after a few games you see that the atmosphere is very family friendly and frankly it's just the media being a bit 'football-phobic'. Have never seen one issue on the way to, at the game, or heading home afterwards. After being in the active area at Newcastle it again broke that subconscious preconception that those bays are somehow 'dangerous'. Thinking about it now I think my family would actually be safer in the active bays because at home we wouldn't have the away fans right near us in case of a scuffle and there's really no reason for WSW fans to attack each other.. Shows how silly the over-policing really is..

Anyhow, should be an awesome game up there, can't wait!!

Is there any way to purchase tickets in the north terrace for home games or have they blocked it off to active members only? (apart from buying resale tickets)

The only person I wouldn't bring to the middle bays of the RBB is a pregnant lady, and not because it's a dangerous place to be in but because I'd like to avoid an accident like someone pushing into you and so on. Other than that, literally anyone can come in and it is perfectly safe for everybody. What authorities see as family friendly is us sitting down and singing Mary had a little lamb and clapping when the big screen tells us to. What we see as family friendly is having fun, jumping, singing...and the Bloc has something for everyone. As I told you before, you can either be on the fringe or try and squeeze in the middle, there's enough entertainment for anyone and anyone is welcome. The only thing I would like you to do is that you learn the chants and participate actively. Do the clapping, do the jumping, put your hands up during A Call To Arms and so on. Nothing irritates me more than to see people on their phones or not participating. If you want to experience the atmosphere stay on the sides, if you want to help make that atmosphere then come to the north but make sure you're active.

Mate 100% what guest says, really glad we have people like yourselves breaking down the stereotypes :good:

On the bolded above, it may be a little different this year. For the last few years we have been drinking at the sunnyside tavern then March to the stadium but for the game in November there will be a w-league game beforehand. Hopefully we get a similar feel like the Newcastle match (3k in a 3k at magic park) rather than the SydneyFC game (2k in a 20k at parramatta). Chances are we will just go & watch the girls so there won't be any chanting (going off the last two w-league matches).

Frankly, there was meant to be more atmosphere at the W-League game at Newcastle but the food and the sun made lying on the grassy hill much more attractive than jumping.
