As I booked my flight to Melbourne like three months ago... I’m in! Chilly night, looks like it’ll be 16 degrees max that day so closer to 10 at kickoff. Will be a great night I think.

Waiting for the post match comments on how the cold contributed to the loss. #jaded :ninja:

Last time I watched City on TV I thought the VIC GOV had enacted a coronavirus containment policy as it looked like it was being played 'behind closed doors'

Don't worry, they'll add the seagulls to the attendance.

AAMI Park to be 'intensively cleaned' after man with coronavirus attends Rebels match

The lower bowl of Melbourne's AAMI Park will undergo intensive cleaning for the next three days after it was revealed a man with coronavirus attended last weekend's Melbourne Rebels match.

The Olympic Park Trust confirmed the man had attended the match between the Rebels and Lions on Saturday night, sitting in section nine.

While the next match at the venue - an A-League clash between Melbourne City and the Western Sydney Wanderers - will go ahead, the lower bowl will be intensive cleaned.

"Department of Health and Human Services has advised that the patron who attended AAMI Park for the rugby union match between the Melbourne Rebels and the Lions was diagnosed with COVID-19 overnight," an Olympic Park spokesperson said.

"The patron sat in Section 9 on the east side of the venue. The case has been classified by DHHS as low-risk of spreading COVID-19 to surrounding members of the public and staff.

'DHHS recommends that those who were seated in Section 9, can go about their regular activities, but to monitor their health and remain mindful of their hygiene practices.

"As a precautionary measure, M&OP have initiated intensive cleaning of AAMI Park today and will follow a rigorous cleaning regime over the next week.

"During this time, M&OP will continue to work closely with the government and health authorities.

What are the odds of that the rebels only get a few hundred to the game

    Motor GP off....

Game still going ahead though i guess.

It will be fine you can’t catch it off seagulls

Besides judging by ABC News Sokkah fans must be immune from Corona  Virus as A League wasn’t mentioned once, although the A League is of course immune from mainstream media coverage too

Un-*******-believable! There's a lot of angry people at the gate waiting to get in to the paddock and we just have been notified of the cancellation

They made the decision to protect people from being exposed to a large public gathering... by keeping them jammed together in a tightly packed queue for an hour and a half.

The talk about the game being behind closed doors is funny because lets not act as if there will be people watching Melbourne City anyway. #plastics

Health officials advise gatherings of more than 500 not allowed...goverment will follow that advice i would expect.

I think the season might be farked...

I'd be shocked if the entire league isn't cancelled by this time next week. The Government is about to effectively ban all sporting events from having crowds but the PFA aren't going to want the players doing anything but staying at home, because even closed doors games won't be enough as it moves through the staff & players.

The games tomorrow might not even go ahead.

Games will go ahead this weekend because ban does not come into effect till Monday. Beyond that who knows but I reckon they will still go on behind closed doors to honour Fox commitment. (Although A-League teams may complain that the ban gives an unfair advantage to the Mariners and Western United)

RBB should record some chants for the Derby which Fox can play. Or what if they allowed 499 fans to turn up (or does the limit also include coaches, ball boys etc?)

Interesting the ban starts Monday.....just long enough for the PM's bestest buddy Brian Houston to finish his big Hillsong do by Sunday....:ninja:

    Coincidence......?

You've got to laugh .....this morning while people in high places were determining whether the F1 GP should go ahead without anyone allowed in, thousands were queued up all close together at the track entraces waiting to see if they would be admitted...lol

    • I remember hearing a story, not sure if it’s true, a doctor giving a vaccine and this anti-vax person came in and was spouting all that nonsense about 5G and how it’s all a conspiracy etc. Anyway, doctor realised this person was one of those super pro-US is the best America #1 people. Doctor said to them: “What if all that 5G stuff is actually a conspiracy from the Communist Russians and Chinese to destabilise our American health system and release a disease that will kill us all?” Guy got the vaccine. Dunno if the story is true or not but hilarious if true
