    Oh F>>> the Victory!

    4-1 Wanderers!

And 1000 travelling Wanderers to rock that shitty stadium and send the Melb Northern Terrace home with their tales between their legs!

    Like this time...

Still one of the greatest away trips ever. I yearn for the days we get to stadium 60 minutes earlier chanting for most of the time!

At the very least we'll be sending a much move competitive team to Melbourne than in Round 1 last season - no Cole, Golec, Mullen, Appiah, Hamill, Haliti, Saba, Trifiro...

At the very least we'll be seeing a better game than in the big blue a couple of weeks ago - no ESFC.

The rest is in the hands of the football Gods.

This will be another repeat of the city game (sort of) in terms of being exciting on & off the pitch.

Both teams will be proactive & pushing for the win, yes it will ebb & flow but it should be a great advert for the aleague. The key difference to the city match is that victory will not be so aggressive in pressing up the field & committing so many players up the field.

I can see victory pressing in certain situations (maybe the first 10 minutes or 20 seconds once they've lost the ball) but I can see them conceding possession & getting as many players behind the ball as possible. We won't find as much room in the final third & as such we won't be able to create as many clear cut opportunities as we did against City. Going to be very similar to Adelaide & ESFV game where we will have to lift our game to create opportunities & score them. Please though, please put away our opportunities.

The city game will give us lots of confidence & Victory will be burning after the Perth loss. I can see the same team for us & even though FBK might be a big loss for them but it will give one of there youngsters an opportunity (if you remember when that young wingback from the victory youth team & put on a masterclass) to come on & shine. Will definitely be handy to see what depth they have in that position when the ACL comes along.

Gunner, yes the referee will be key. Please someone tell me it's Strebre?

Prydz you mean Stefan ***** ?

His first match was just brilliant, mugged Thomas Broich off like he was a state league player.

His second match was apparently less than memorable & the fans turned on him.

Let's hope he has another of those.

It's going to be serious beer weather: 33 degrees.

BOM still going for 30 degrees and clear. Minimum of 17 degrees so it should be low 20's come kick off time. Perfect weather for a **** city like Melbourne.

I would like a pax though.

Some nice comments on the Victory forums:

    Someone snap Nichols' shins.

We'll win it comfortably. WSW play an open game now and their defence is fairly weak.

I hope this is the last game we play at the library.

anyone remember a couple of years ago they let off smoke bombs at AAMI? that noise was ******

Clubs' team sheet is never right and not worth looking at. It really pisses me off when you place bets on the information they give you and your multi is upset and invalid, when the information you get from the club is WRONG as it has been the past 3 weeks.  :drats:  :arniesalt:

No way in the world could the MV defense be as square or flat footed as the MC defense was, 3 of them had never played together before and it showed! There won't be anywhere near as much room. I would play Romeo as an 60th min impact player again as he did I believe when we played MV at home a few months back when he ripped them a new one.

Have to take the opportunities that come our way in this one, otherwise I fear another ESFC derby type game / result.

    Would take a draw.

I can't remember his name but yes that was him. Mugged Broich & Harry high pants, had an absolutely outstanding match. Would be interesting to see if they have a young kid to come in & step up to the plate. For a guy that young, not surprising he isn't consistent.

I would have thought maybe old man Archie might take FBK's spot I'd say Mus***** would want to build his fitness ahead of ACL.

Ahhhh forgot about him, damn that's a natural selection but he hasn't played 90 minutes in a long time. I'm thinking he might bring him on at half time, I'm sure he wants to start but not sure how he'd go.

Chill out bro, the ins & outs pretty much tell us who is fit & who is in the squad for the game. This is very different to the team & subs selected on game day. The club haven't got anything wrong.

A few things I'm predicting MV not to do: Not expose there CB's as much as city did, not press as high as city did (exposing said CB's), lose the ball multiple times in midfield & City's wing backs (3-5-2) won't be as high as Victory's wing backs (4-3-3). Wasn't just about the back 3 but how the whole team played & how exposed it left them.

Can't stress enough, can't take 10 opportunities to score 1 goal. I feel we won't get many opportunities in this game for both teams.
