What will be an acceptable performance against Palm Beach who struggled to best Roar's U21 NPL squad this season, who Roar beat 9-0 in a trial last year and who the Mariners beat 5-0 in last year's cup?

A win. I'll take a win. A scrappy one, so that the haters blow up!

I'll take a close win but I'd like to see some better play in terms of our style, build up, possesion & chance creation. Okay we win 1-0, but at least give me some positives to take away from what is happening on the field especially building on the roar & Canberra Croatia game so I can see where we might be come October. Much of what happened at the roar game left me cringing if we kept playing like that in future matches (yes our first 90 minute hit out, lots of players yet to come in & very early in preseason) but was a bit concerning nonetheless.

 

You're being a bit harsh. The Roar game was more notable for who wasn't in the team than who was - and yet there was clear intent to do things differently, which was very encouraging. Unfortunately Andreu copped the knock, but he showed enough to suggest he's a definite > over our previous pairing, and Gol Gol made plenty of his own luck throughout the game. I was happy with Jamieson until he pulled the Roar player down, which I initially thought was a silly move, but then I realised it was on McKay so I was happy with him again

I'm looking forward to seeing Piovaccari to see if he can unpick the lock the Sharks will undoubtedly set.

You might have to do a ring around to find out. Although I highly doubt it.

It's $2.50 to get a month's subscription to sign up to fox sports.com.au. Thats your best bet.

Injury update via WSW site

With Brendon Santalab scoring with his first touch back from injury last week against Canberra, the striker is expected to make his competitive return against Palm Beach while most of the foreign players are also hoped to play a part in the match.

Spaniard Andreu won’t be one of them despite returning to training recently along with Golgol Mebrahtu will also be left out due to injury concern.

 

Romeo Castelen is also in doubt.
