    Very difficult start.

The really disappointing thing about the Cup Semi was we didn't even look like a team.

It was as if the half time instruction, was 'lads take it easy it's only a trial game'.

With everyone trying to get a place in the squad.

There's an apparent lack of unity. No team-ness. No little groups or links.

We desperantly need some links - Poljak-LaRocca, Polenz-Hersi. And Ono-Mooy seem like years ago.

It's the little groups that knit together to form the fine-embroidery of a good team.

We just don't seem to have it.

With others, [Mariners/Jets] getting better around us, I fear for the season.

But at least it's the last one, parking at Lidcombe.

Popa never got us off to a winning start in all the seasons he was in charge, so Perth are specials :(

And the 1 season he did (13/14 we were 1st after Round 6) we very rapidly fell back as far as 3rd, then kept dropping points while Brisbane extended their lead.

Would take a draw if given now.

Fear another hammering. ******* Popa never won his first games of season with us but you watch him turn that around..

    Nailed on Santa goal also.

Nearly half the league was our Arnie last year. I don't think we won a game against Newcastle, Sydney FC, Melbourne Victory or Adelaide and we didn't sweep anyone 3-0 either. We got close with the Mariners & Wellington where our record against them both was 2 wins and 1 draw.

Last year was absolutely dire. The playing style, SOP, no purpose, little commitment, Riot Squad travails, SOP, losing in just about every game to the teams above us, SOP, running out of steam every game after 60 mins. Oh and did I mention Sydney Bleedin' Olympic Park.

Has to be better, has to.

Whilst Popa has a great squad on paper, some of them are not coming off strong seasons. Spira hasn't been performing at his best (not even A League best) for a couple of years.  I wonder how far he is from being the Spira we remember?  Likewise a few others? - Franjic has generally turned up only to score a worldy against us; Ferriera has never grabbed me - solid but not a name I'd look at.  Not sure about the rest of his pick ups but assume that they are coming to Perth, they need to get things back on the road of their careers.  Perth is not the centre of the footballing universe and they are under the salary cap, so???

Ikon should be up for it as he had a good run last season.  If they get it together, they will be very tough this season but I am hoping that getting them early will give us the best opportunity (despite we are very much underdone as well).  We shall see.  As someone else said probably 1-0 win or 0-4 loss.
