I'm confident we'll get the right result on Friday. Not so much for Saturday, BUT some things in our favour include:

    - Finkler and...who's the other foreigner not in their acl squad?...won't be playing midweek.

    - Melb will want revenge for the 5-0 loss.

    - It's a tough away trip regardless and we just need a draw.

And then we just need to beat our bogey team away!

If we don't win we'll end up 5th I reckon.

What a weekend coming up! We could end up feeling the elation of victory or the disappointment of finishing fifth, or anything in between.

    Cant. F**king. Wait.

Bring it home boys. Break the boogy chains that are the nix, and with it a home semi, ALC spot and the premiers plate (or any combination there of)

We decided to go as we were leaving the car park on Friday night after the game, all booked by midnight that night!

First non gosford/esfc away trip. My away form is poor to be honest, so 5th it will be.

Lets be confident about this...I also have poor form in regards to winning away games but it is actually statistically correct that away games you will have more chance of seeing a loss and or a draw than a win. I'm no expert but I believe it's around the 27% mark for a win away from home, where a loss is up near 50%.

It's a bit like playing a poker machine, the government sets the return on investment at 27% for pubs and 30% for clubs (don't quote these figures but they are close) but you just have to be in the right place at the right time to get a win.

Let's hope Westpac stadium in Wellington is the right place and Sunday night is the right time... :good:

Watch Wellington actually turn up this time.

If results go our way, this will be edge of your seat stuff.

Anyone else think we should start Santa again?

So when they flogged us last time 5-2, they didn't turn up...Holy **** we're in trouble when they do....  :ninja:

Haha....no man, they've been horrendous as of late, until they play us of course.

Just trying to remember how many interstate away games we've won in the last couple of years. Brisbane in S3, City in S4. That's it, right? Not the kind of track record to instil confidence.

But then there was the S2 Rd27 game against Heart in Melbourne where we secured 2nd spot. What a game and result that was!

Edit: Riera out should help our cause.

I think we'll beat Wellington and I think City will take at least a point from Adelaide. The only one I'm really worried about is Victory getting something from Brisbane. Brisbane's away record is awful (12 points from 12 games) but Victory have been equally awful in the league around ACL matches.

Double edged sword - needing Victory to win, but then having them going into the finals with momentum

No it's not...They win, We win the Premiers Plate, job done...... :woah:  :woah:  :woah:

As for the rest of the crap lottery who cares how much money FFA make in their 'showpiece' to appease the Shazza and Dazza's....  :smurfpoint:

I'll be disappointed if we lose the plate to Brisbane. I don't think they deserve it at all, they've been absolutely **** on multiple ocassions this season.

We've been absolutely **** on multiple occasions this season.

No one truly deserves the plate this year lol

I disagree. The only time this season that I think we've been well and truly beaten was against Wellington. Brisbane had their asses handed to them a couple of times over a 6 week period.

    Match thread early :woah:

We will know the equation prior to kickoff. We need to win no matter what to finish as high up the table as possible even if premiers plate is not a possibility.

If the preceding results fall our way, are we happy to win ugly?

If we somehow get the right results out of the victory & City match, then I don't care how we get the three points (yes a few weeks ago I was wanting us to play with confidence & put away our chances).

Yes Melvin, well said. You show a maturity beyond your 15 years at times :good:

The Plate is for finishing the season with the best results, not for being the best team on one given day (GF). AND it gets us back to Asia.

Of course I want the toilet seat, but the Plate is key - even if we win ugly and rely on others falling over.

    • Best shown by a chance Toure had when an Indonesian player had fallen over, he had a simple ball about 10 meters that would have put one of our attackers clean through for a one on one. He over-hit it and ruined the chance. Also falling for the same old Asian team diving & time wasting, by giving away stupid fouls to let them fall over and sit on the ground for minutes. 11 minutes stoppage time is probably half what it deserved.
    • Yet again, a failure of pace and power football over technically skilled football in on display in the Olyroos vs Indonesia.  We need to develop skills over pace at all levels
    • Milanovic & Brook should have been on the next flight home at half-time.
