5:30pm KO on a Friday is quite inconvenient.

Yes given how much our body clocks have suffered for the last 3 days I think is  ;)

Although looking forward to maybe watching in the city somewhere. Maybe we should take over Star.

I'll be at Cheers Bar on George St

Thinking of heading there as well, work just around the corner. Might see you there

Just realised I finish work at 3, my options are endless #unistudentlyf :meep:

    RE the game...

I can see the likes of Bridge, Santa, Poljak or La Rocca, Haliti getting a rest this week

Starts for Ruka, Row-mayo, Tomi, Spira plus maybe some of our younger guys.

I think they will be very dangerous.

Plus, once they start getting some good combinations with Saba at CAM, it should be delightful.

Well we have a mid week game in Perth (I think) so I guess it makes sense to rest our players against the sheep shaggers and I'll go with this starting line up:

    Bouzianis

    -Mullen--Hamil--NTS--Adeleke

    -La Rocca--Trifero-

    -Romeo-----Bridge-----Rukavytsa-

    -Santalab-

None of these teams have Kubi in it. It is likely Popa will include him in his starting line up

No.  Castelen will start on the right with Kubi as a possible late sub for him I think.

This is why Popa is a legend. Coming back from a continental title, Popa would treat this just as importantly and put the best squad for this occasion, while taking into account absolutely everything.

This is why he makes the decisions

Where are all those people that were critical of his squad rotation system last season to help balance for ACL duties.  Come on.  Out of the shadows or we'll have to shine that ACL trophy in the corners and blind you out.

Nah, our game against Perth is a Saturday. Our first midweek game is 2 weeks from today against CCM.

The best 11 might consist of those who actually have legs left in them, and aren't down and out because of the jet lag.

Cole, NTS, Hamill, Golec, Haliti, Poljak, Bridge all played 90 minutes, and I only expect NTS to make the trip to NZ.

    Saba and Santa are out.

Adeleke, Lo, Castelen, Perkatis, Ruka all stayed in Australia and seem certain NZ travelers.

Mullen, Sotirio, Trifiro, Alessi, Fofanah didn't play at all in Saudi, and are also likely to go to Wellington.

Spira, Appiah, Juric didn't play the full match and should be on the plane. La Rocca is likely to be rested.

Add Covic and Bouzanis and that's a squad of 16.

As for a starting 11: take your pick. In the end we'll all be wrong. I am expecting a Popa special surprise bag.

look at all these upcoming games & new comp we gained entry into. we're basically a Europe team playing every 4 or so days now lol.

    I love it.

    bring on the phoneix!!!!

Imagine if we did well in the FFA cup.

I actually suspect NTS to get a break now. He had the aussie game jammed in along with that extra travel so another trip wouldnt be too flash for him. Leave the Captain at home. Mullen really hasnt impressed, but i think he will be needed for this trip and Alessi to get a chance against Perth. Also too often i forget about Trifiro, he will get a start for sure.

i also had the thought that against the Smurfs the fact that we gave a few debutants good minutes they required subbing and the regulars got very fatigued due to there work load. Interesting balancing act need for next 3 weeks.

id update my team to this now. (man i love being a couch manager)

    Mullen________Hammill_________Spira________Golec

    ______________Trifiro_________LaRocca__________

    Castelan_____________Lo____________Ruka________

    ___________________Juric____________________

Ruka will no doubt need to come off for Kubi.

    Haliti for Juric.

Then see how both LaRocca and Castelan cope for fitness.

    * Benefits of this is Castelan, Lo and Ruka all got minutes together. And Wellington arnt playing the same cross and long ball football of previous years, so NTS's aerial ability wont be too much of a loss.

You don't have NTS or Bridge there.

In their absence (in your hypothetical team!) who do you reckon would get the Captain's armband??

La Rocca for mine. Most senior member (of this club, at least). Spira probably doesn't "need" the captaincy, if that makes sense

Only 2 foundation players in that line up. Not sure why that made me a little sad/nostalgic

    • The guy is a professional footballer, even playing on a different side to his preferred, the concept of defending doesn’t change. He hardly looked like he was giving it a go. I think all too often we can be so lenient on mistakes made by players across the league. Let’s not forget that they are professionals, they get paid (a bloody decent amount) and should have the skillset required to atleast be able to do a job in a different to preferred position. It’s not like all age, where one week they are banging then in as a striker and then next they’ve got the gloves on as the regular keeper is away with the missus.
    • More like Neverlosin' the way they're going.
