I seriously can't believe some of the **** I'm reading here.....

5 ****ing dollars to help out a club that averages 100 at its game is such a big deal for them.....

This club was meant to be based on uniting old clubs and fans, and giving back to the community, when its actually time to give back to the clubs, people chuck a stink about it lol…

This is essentially what we asked for remember. More interaction/acknowledgement/links with the western sydney football community, which means football clubs in the area.

How can the club expect to maintain good relationships and therefore access to potential players and fans if they march in and expect to be handed what they want on a silver platter? It reeks of "we are more important" as opposed to "what can we do for each other.

Some ppl need to lighten up.... while, yep, $5 is minimal, still a fair observation about price points while the club's still trying to generate a fan base for the season proper... I just hope the money raised DOES filter down to the club's resource kitty.

Got no objection to bit of money raised by clubs in trial games, as long as it goes back to player/coach development.

It'd be great if social clubs could nominate themselves for a trial say pre-season next year; good candidates go into a draw & the Wanderers first pre-season match is at some grassroots club, say, well, what about Kemps Creek Tigers. whichever club, half-proceeds go to club's juniors & other half to the association. It'd make a great difference.

Bad move, We are trying to get people interested and involved in th game, untill we have a huge supporter base and whislt we are currently building the clubs image. All Trial matches should be free. Gold coin donation at the most. There will be plenty of familes that wont take a bunch of kids because of the 5$ fee.

Let's be honest. People going to trial matches are most likely to be pretty much sold on the idea already.... the kind of people rocking up to these trial matches who are undecided about whether or not they will come to the big show are probably affiliated with the PL clubs in question.... and they are far more likely to appreciate what the WSW is doing if there is a gate taken to the benefit of their local club.

I've no problem paying the $5, but some people, who are potential fans, but not yet, might not go to the game!!

I would also argue that "undecided" people aren't necessarily going to be swayed by a trial match - or even consider going unless it's absolutely in their backyard. And on top of that, all the families and people associated with Blacktown City are going to get a better impression if WSW raise a bit of dosh - that's probably of equal value in terms of getting individuals on board, but has the added bonus of establishing good terms for later benefit.

To be honest I was really surprised that the other games didn't cost 5, 10, maybe even 15 bucks. I mean the RBB ruined the hill at cook park and it'll need to be returfed, and out of who's pocket? Security and the electricity bill at blacktown olympic park can't be cheap and that was free too. I doubt the sausage sizzle paid for it. It's great that they were free but I'm absolutely more than happy to be paying $5 per friendly. I'll shout you if you want, roverslad.

I went to a SFC V Blacktown City FC some years ago. It was played at Seven Hills, at BCFC home ground. I think we paid $6 to get in. This was before the club went into receivership and Lily's was still the Demons Club at that time. I even think we got a discount because we were Demons Club members, so it might have been $10 for the full price. The announcer was trying to get the crowd to call into the club before they went home to have a few more drinks. There was a drinks bar in the stadium then, but I don't know whether that is still there. I do know that Lily's does not run a bar in the stadium because I asked them.

If there's a bar in the ground, maybe they have to charge for licensing reasons? Can you let kids into an area that alcohol is being served?

Re the query about Blacktown City coach Mark Crittenden , you're right he does work at Cumberland Golf Club.

I played in plenty of schoolboy tournaments as a lad with the likes of Elkington, O'Malley, P. Jones etc.

I perferated the bottom disc in my back a couple of times, so I sold both the sets I had and golf is but a distant memory.

$5 is nothing. Give something back to the smaller clubs. If we all help each other out we will all be stronger for it.

Did you finish high school even? Or are you still in school? Let me tell you where I am coming from. I come from a marketing background and I have worked for some of the biggest companies in Australia. I'm coming from a university degree in marketing and economics. I don't give a toss about the $5, $10 or $20. It's the frustration with the lack of forward thinking for the welfare of the overall game. There is little doubt that putting any price on has an effect on the marketability of a new product. If Blacktown was in such dire financial trouble, then what the heck would they do if the Wanderers had not been created this year? This is just an absolute utter farce and a total joke. It's sad because as I said, it should not necessarily be up to the club at Blacktown but it should be up to the FFA.

BTW for your information, I've already gotten Wanderers membership at full price. Thanks. I wonder if you have, obviously you haven't even seen the pricing for the memberships, so how could you? Wanderers will just pay $5 x attendance (5000 people?) to Blacktown City. So $25K. Not sure how good our books will be but:

1. Local clubs get supported

2. Free entry provided

3. Makes for good PR.

Guy's, the admission fee is set by Blacktown City. WSW FC are the away team. The club (BC) wan't an entry fee, so the **** what. They deserve it. This is just as much about supporting the local clubs as it is a Wanderers trial.

Stop whingeing about $5.

it's 5 dollars guys!! lighten up a bit and turn up to enjoy the game, not moan about greedy board members! this is about the club and the fans! call me naive but it's not really worth kicking up a fuss about it!

We, the Wanderers are the away club for this fixture. Blacktown City, as run by Mr Shembri (who wanted us to call ourselves "something silly") are free to set the admission price as they so choose. Given the marketing side of your background surely you can understand that Coke does not set the price of Pepsi. Market forces (read: Wanderers influence) may drive said price higher or lower, but the ultimate determination lies with the trader of any given commodity...in this case a ticket to watch the Blacktown City FC vs Wanderers fixture. Given the economic side of your background you can surely also understand that as demand increases, so does the price of any given commodity. This is a founding principle of the law of demand & supply.

I'll see your bachelors degree, and raise you a masters and $5 worth of entry fee if you promise to put beer-glass to mouth and shush until it's time to chant for the Wanderers!

If it wasn't free admission for kids I would be with you Roverslad, but it is and as such it shouldn't impact the attendance of families. It essentially is still free to the only part of the market which would be affected. If the $5 is a major factor in someones decision process other factors such as it being a Wednesday, cold night and standard of play are also more than likely to perturb them. I think the $5 was just the right price to remain below j.n.d in this particular situation.

In a perfect world it would be free with the Wanderers/FFA tipping some money into Blacktown City.

I personally think it's a bigger worry that I haven't seen a mention in any of the local papers, though this hasn't seemed to have affected both previous crowds and judging by local word of mouth there is a buzz in the air.

But hey if it isn't a success I'll gladly eat my hat.

I believe I did. The pay off is the development of the game in the longer term and the growth of the sport as a whole, so that Blacktown City can have far greater funding later on. That's the point.

I am also not happy at seeing very little in our local papers. Some on the first match but nothing in the Parra Advertiser for the Spartan game.

The WSW marketing team should be working overtime to convince in some way the local press that this game is on. We need the press on our side and even a promo in the papers.

I have not seen the Blacktown papers as we don't get them delivered in Girraween.

We have the clubs informed but the general public are not aware of what is going on. These are also potential supporters, many I speak to just do not know. Some are actually fans of Football and one guy said there was nothing he was aware of about the trials. He said he may get to the Blacktown game which is one more.

On the $5.00 if someone is too stingy to part with what is the price of a big packet of chips, a beer or a few smokes, well I don't need to say any more on that subject.

Its $15 to get entry to blacktown's premier league games both city and spartans....It's only $5 and as the math shows it will mean $25k going to an important club for the western sydney area well thats if we get a crowd of 5000.
