The 8 o'clock start is great for those rushing to Parra after work.

But considering people won't be getting home after the game  'til 11:00 PM - not good for those with kids, or those with early starts the next day...

    Foolish and stupid decision, IMO.

But hey, will probably make the cop:fan ratio better for the cops..., :xnod:

Can't wait, the off season feels so boring without the Wanderers playing and really looking forward to the atmosphere Wanderers fans create as always!

    And a school night too!

    Awesome scheduling FFA. :(

Does anyone actually know the thought process behind making it Thursday night? When we're trying to maximise crowds this isn't helping.

    And yes, GO WESTERN WANDERERS

It is more to do with FFA to appease TV right deals, if it wasn't us it would have been another game to open the season. Surely people can better prioritise their Recreation' Leave and Sick Leave for such occasions..  :ninja:

All parents should be taking their kids out of school Friday and sending them back next week with a note saying it was more important for their kids to be home schooled, in the best Multicultural experiment this country has ever seen.

    :woah:  :woah:  :woah:

The scheduling around our ACL run shows the FFA doesn't put alot of thought into it

generally agree but i cant help think this is by design, at least they know they'll get a decent crowd in with some noise and atmosphere to make the tv experience.

ill go out on a limb and say the sauce bottles will never get a first game of the season at home :good:  ...unless its against us of course :xnod:

The possibility of a shower on Thursday is very minimal... 30% 0-0.4mm during the morning.

19 degrees at 8pm in Parramatta, Partly cloudy

Well thank you Alan Wilkie! :P Now there's a name from the past only us old farts will recognise!!! :D

    Can't wait to be back.

WSWBoro junior will be there also, he will probably be tired for the next day, but meh, some things are just more important than education.......

Just brought back memories of when I was at school in the late 80's and Boro had big games on Tues or Weds nights away from home. My old man or uncle would ring up the school with some excuse and get me out early :D Remember going to an away game at Man U one Tuesday night and jumping over the school fence and jumping in the back of a transit van... next stop old Trafford lol. Great days nicking off school for football.

Stop with the stupid Gifs. Pre season is over.

9 of the 11 players pick themselves. Who plays LW and who plays RB?

    Piovaccari

    ????? - Nichols - Castelen

    Andreu - Dimas

    Jamieson - NTS - Alberto - ?????

    Wall Of Redmayne

It would be very un-popa-like to start Vidosic after only playing 15 mins in pre season, and that 15 mins was only due to injury to someone else. I expect he'll be on the bench, but I'd be very happy if he were to start.

The only other spot up for grabs would be right back. Neville did the job early, then had a few weeks off and Pepper really stood out playing RB. Hamill is the other option, and is probably the best of the 3 but do you play him out of position just to get him on the pitch?

    Bring on Thursday night!!!!!

    No.

I think it'd be to get some clear air/media coverage before Bathurst dominates most of the weekends coverage. FFA wouldn't want too many games on the Sunday when the race is on (hence Wellington vs. Jets being the only Sunday game).

Bouzanis and Redmayne to play one half each at Keeper on Thursday!

    What do ya reckon? :D

No way I would let Bouzanis near the goalposts.  Redmayne is the better of the two and was headhunted by Kalac so I think he is the number 1.

Will be interested how Pio goes after some ordinary performances. Someone posted on another thread that he should be given until xmas to prove himself - what a load of crap. For a guy who has had 16 clubs in 13 years he should know how to hit the ground running by now.

Hopefully he will score a bagful starting Thursday. If he doesn't fire we are up shite street for strikers.

I still can't believe that penalty he took. Jamieson I can sympathize (old team, possible tactic error making him shoot in the first place. Easy to say this in hindsight)

But Freds pen.... **** me that was garbage

I reckon Jamieson could have slotted Thurston's conversion kick on Sunday night going by his penna over in Perth, if football fails for him he looks to have the nack of slotting them between uprights on the rugby field.

I will miss this one :( Only 2nd home game I've ever missed... Season start always coincides with wedding anniversary (were married before the Wanderers were a twinkle in the A-League eye). Oh well :(

Leave day approved - put it in immediately after the draw was made public....bit late for the kids unfortunately - but I'm working on my darling wife about it

The team is still a few rounds out from working well together, I know Brisbane is a shambles at the moment but I just cant see this being an easy win.

1-0 to us but it'll be a struggle.

I concur. I think both teams will struggle tbh, but we should have enough to get over the line.

Can Brisbane even afford to fly down?

I remember from our GF experience that a number of WSW supporting families took the 12 hour train because it cut down significantly on costs. Perhaps they could do that, or, if still too much, hitchhike.

Try after 12 for me. Work on Friday will involve a lot of yawning, but I wouldn't miss this for the world.

The only answer is divorce so this unfortunate occurrence doesn't happen again.

You can always get married again should you wish.... say in June, July or August......

The GF up in Brisbane was our wedding anniversary, I took her to the game with me  :D

Corporate catering at Pirtek is a great anniversary present. My missus had her birthday during GF day too. I took her on a trip to Brisbane :)

    • The guy is a professional footballer, even playing on a different side to his preferred, the concept of defending doesn’t change. He hardly looked like he was giving it a go. I think all too often we can be so lenient on mistakes made by players across the league. Let’s not forget that they are professionals, they get paid (a bloody decent amount) and should have the skillset required to atleast be able to do a job in a different to preferred position. It’s not like all age, where one week they are banging then in as a striker and then next they’ve got the gloves on as the regular keeper is away with the missus.
