Should be an interesting game at the very least. Hopefully a flog-free RBB but I still don't think our streak has been long or deep enough to really clear the deadwood. Curious about Saba, slightly less so about Adeleke.

I expect no less than a 15-16k crowd, No excuses. It's been ages since we've played a home game, we come up against another NSW team, a public holiday and our team needing our support. Everyone should try and be there, no excuses with hangovers and crap, ok?????

    PS, honestly I can't wait.

I'm annoyed this match is on at 7:30 PM.

It's a public holiday - so it should be a late arvo match IMO - make the most of the day.

I guess at least by 7:30PM, most people will have recovered from the night before...(only to inflict the same pain upon themselves again haha.)

Lots of people do still have to go to work that Friday - I really think it's silly to have the match so late.

ccm will disembark from their bus on the pitch and the bus will be parked there until they leave. This has potential for 0-0 again if we don't bury the chances we will get. agree with the time 7:30pm on a public holiday is ordinary should have been 5:00pm if anything make it a day game.

I know you think we are creating enough chances but I still think we are short in the creative department. Brisbane last time at home was dire until the frantic last 10 mins. I hope I’m wrong and we create a shed-load (and yes take the odd one too!)   Not sure what the Saba situation is but hopefully he comes out fired up to show what he can do as a genuine No. 10.

Agree the Mariners will be parking the bus and hoping to knick one on the break.

So, everyone is starting to write us off from winning the A-League. No one outside the club is rating us a chance to make the top 6, let alone the Grand Final.

We are starting our next match as underdogs. And we are playing against the Mariners. At home.

Sounds alot like the start of our Season 1 to me. And we all know how that turned out!

Let the other teams whinge and the media moan. We've always laughed at their obsession with us before.

PA-PA-Paranoia. The Wanderers are coming for ya!!!

i do agree with you mate... in the sense that when the game is dire and flat and opposition defences hold us out that we have no one to pull the game out of the fire with creativity. yes agree in that sense. But what i ramble on about with the run of play chances are happening we are getting these near the goal and plenty to tuck away....vs sydney vs ccm vs jets vs wellington and even perth.... it was there to see. Our lack of clinical finishing is costing us with these chances. What makes it look worse is that our mids are not goal scoring machines either and if our striker is off then we suffer all round. Take liverpool for an example this morning....no real strikers in the lineup but the mids did all the damage. Lallana as a player with his trickery and touches reminds me of a nathan burns type player but obviously a thousand times better. we should have made a play at signing burns.

I just had a quick look through the stats so far this season for all clubs and three things stood out:-

    - We are getting 8 shots a game while most others are getting 12 a game.

    - Our shot conversion rate is 7.1% while for the better clubs it is 20%+.

    - Our aerial duels won at just over 40% is about 10% behind most clubs.

The combination of the first two points is that we aren't creating enough clear chances to control games or be competitive in games through pressure from the score.  In other words, if we aren't a threat our opponents can play the game how they want to play it.

The third point is an interesting one.  When we clear the ball forward more often than not the ball is headed back in our direction.  When our opponent clears the ball forward more often than not they head the ball on.  Both of these load pressure onto our defence.  My recollection of previous seasons is that we were strong when the ball was in the air.  If this observation is true what has caused the change?

We have been awful this season at breaking down teams that sit back. This will definitely be the issue again tomorrow. Feeling 0-0 unfortunately.

We must beat ESFC's 14 200 attendance from the other night. Biggest challenge will be people on holidays. If you can't use tickets, get them to someone else. Can't wait to be back in the RBB tomorrow, it has been too long since our last home game.

points 1 and 2 are spot on when you think about how many times we get into the box and someone tries to over play a pass or take a run to try and walk the ball into the goal without shooting. needs strikers and more shoot *****. these things can be fixed.

I remember in season 1 when the opposition headed the ball back it would usually go to either Shinji, Hersi or Bridge who were very instinctive and able to capitalise on half chances. Notice how these 3 guys scored the majority of our goals. Dino only ever scored 1 as he was used more as someone who would press and hold the ball up. These days Castelen, Haliti, Cole, Saba etc don't have that instinct the season 1 guys had. Bridge seems to have lost whatever we had.

Our defence would also play a higher line with Beauchamp, which meant if the ball was headed back into our zone we would usually win it with lots of numbers in the middle of the field, and then press with our front 4. Some of our attacks were done at an amazing speeed. With Spira our defence plays deeper, therefore we don't win the ball back as much as we don't have the numbers in the middle of the field. We used to always win the midfield battle. We don't anymore.

If we can finally finish off our shoots we will destroy Mariners early and will be a turning point. But I'm worried about line up with no Romeo, Juric and NTS plus the Saba media speculation. I'd like Popa to start Saba with Bridge on as well.

Will be good to be back at Wanderland.

Do we know which "official" we will be getting for this game *prays for it to be Strebre Delovski*

    ec1872b788.jpg

he should become a "dual code" ref and **** off to the nrl where his officiating fits in with the rest over there.

Yep 7:30 game. It could be worse, Perth have a 5pm game on a normal workday thanks to the bright sparks at the ffa.

    As do the Jets tonight.!

Oh ffa, you really are a bunch of half wits.

Looking at the crowd, you could be excused for thinking thats its the Gold Coast hosting Heartless, rather than the Jets.

All midweek games should be 7.30pm kick offs.

And just in case you think they are all on the side of the shade...

ABC digital sideline commentator was saying she reckons 8-9k in. Which if true is amazing turnout by the Jets fans, who have only made the 6 once in the last 6 years.
