    Certainties this weekend:-

    1) Our faith in refereeing will be restored as Neville pulls down Fornarolli in the box in an exact mirror of the Jumpei Geria incident in Melbourne and a penalty will be rightly awarded.

    2) Cahill having done next to nothing all season will suddenly have the game of his life along with the Melbourne City defence who will look like WSW season 1 back four.  Bozanic's hands will be made of the highest grade glue not that we'll get many on target

    3) Our central defence will take on an incredible Grand Canyon like appearance (the middle bit of it mainly)

    4) Bulut will score as many times as Unlimited has ever

    5) Club continues to ignore all grievances and Lederer counts the money he's made from round 1 at ANZ as we drop to 8th on the ladder.

    6) Apocalyptic weather around 5:30-6:00pm on Friday

That would be handball wouldn't it? If he played for City.

Is Cahill going to be cheered or booed?

    I'll be indifferent.

I'm not a booing person, particularly towards someone who has given me so much viewing pleasure over the years.

    He's an Aussie football legend.

I hope no one boos him.

I'm a lifetime Everton supporter, second favourite Everton player (behind Duncan Ferguson)

    I'll be booing him

One thing we don't specifically do anymore is create tactics to exploit other teams weaknesses. We are so intent on getting our possession game right, that the main focus of the team is to do triangles in the middle of the park and hold possession. We purely focus on ourselves. Meanwhile other teams exploit our shaky defence/midfield to perfection. Would be good if the team could play more than one way and look at videos of other teams and how they play.

I find that the whole Cahill thing has nowhere near the hype of the whole Del Piero circus. For me Ale put a lot more bums on seats and created more general interest than what vi$ion is going to do. Ex Socceroos isn't the same compared to world and European greats. Del Piero at his best was a Juventus and Italy great when they were in great period of winning competitions.

I think the impact of Cahill is slightly different. ADP was for the football fans, the people who know the game well and know how good he was. Cahill is more for the casual supporters who may watch the World Cup or occasional Socceroos games but don't watch football as a religion like many of us.

Look at the exposure on commercial TV networks and in print that Cahill brought (all the cringey stuff on Sunrise etc.).

The all important #metrics are up: TV ratings (both Fox and SBS), crowds etc.

I suppose the Del Piero thing also coincided with our entry into the competition as well. It was a good season for the league. Personally even I was excited Del Piero was coming. Cahill was meh. Maybe I am seeing it from my own point of view. But the media coverage in Sydney was out of this world when ADP was here. Could remember front and back pages for the A-league. Good times :)

The media coverage for ADP dried up a little bit (as it has for Cahill slightly) due to Sydney FC being a bucket of shite that season. Timmy got similar coverage when he was first announced, when he landed, first training session etc. etc. it was all big news on commercial networks/print.

The ADP phenomenon was helped by the almost instant success of WSW, coupled with Ono and Heskey. Cahill is doing pretty well (as far as exposure) considering it is really only him as a "big name" in the league (I can feel his head growing in size as I typed that).

    Are people thinking:

Cahill factor = lift in attendance

WSW issues on & off the field = struggle to crack 12k?

Still haven't seen any massive promotion of the buy back scheme or forward your ticket.

Crowd going to be interesting too. We've had Sunday night, Saturday night and now Friday. Wonder what excuses folk can dredge up this time.

Will we get more than the Roar v Smurfs?

Or will it be a "sellout " 12k...

JT saying 21k tickets have been 'allocated '

We'll push their away (Melb City) crowds up again with our recent Spotless numbers.

Apparently tickets are hard to come by

    Here's their away crowd numbers

    R1 v Nix:.........10034

    R2 v Melb Vic.43188

    R5 v Roar.......20198

    Here's their home crowds

    R3 v Perth..........8076

    R4 v Adelaide...10053

    R6 v Newcastle..7745

    Expect 13-15k

So that's around 40% of members not showing. A ridiculous number. If we have sold 3k tickets on top of our member base that means around 10k members will show out of 18k plus. Bizarre. Some people obviously have too much disposable income!

Who is this Cahill bloke anyway?

I wasn't sure so I googled Cahill Footballer and this guy came up:

    Gary-Cahill_3155002.jpg?20140608122244

Apparently he plays in some backwater league called the English Premier League... must be something below the Sky Bet Championship, surely. He plays for some little London club named after a flower show. Defender too, not a striker/midfielder.

Not sure why Melbourne City keep talking about him.

    Very odd.
