the goalkeeping debate between bouzanis and covic comes down to one thing.
Is Covic going to be re-signed at the end of the season?
If so, then Covic starts for the ACL games and Bouzanis plays in the league games
If not, Bouzanis becomes the #1 in the league, plays home ACL games and Covic plays away ACL games

Covic said he wants to play another season, but depends on Popa whether he offers him the contract or not. Not sure on the keeper but if DB plays then safe to safe Covic was dropped but not sure if he did enough to keep his spot. The only problem is that you can't keep dropping your keepers after a bad performance, got to stick with them.

The issue with the defense is that Spira has hamstring tightness and then Golec/NTS/ Aspro/Tanaka played 90 minutes Wesnesday. So essentially we will have to go with an experimental line up, we really have no choice.

Youlley is our youth team DCM, he pulls the strings for us & given high wraps from Taurus. After Trifiro's 45mins & dummy spat, it won't do him any favours in team selection & we don't really have any other choice in this area. We could play Fofanah in deep & Trifiro in the n10 instead of Youlley but I just don't think Popa rates Trifiro any longer even as a squaddie.

Never heard of Liam Youlley before, what position does he play?

He's a young vertically challenged DM, who doesn't take a backward step.

I don't expect Popa to select an inexperienced defensive combination, as it would get cut to ribbons by MV's pace in transistion & the guile of Finkler.

Neither Covic or Bouzanis would give me confidence as a defender at the moment, but then as a goal keeper the defense in front of me wouldn't give me confidence either... which came first.. the chicken or the egg lol

ahhh, but the key point is that we are having this conversation in the first place.

This is King Covic we are talking about, the man that arguably won us the ACL on his own.

the man that saves penalty kicks for fun.

Interesting times are ahead of us,

Popa could be just giving Covic a little break and a small kick up the backside at the same time

Or it could be a statement to him that he has decided that he is no longer within the future teams plans

Firstly, they were advertising the FC Seoul game which is on next week in Korea and only on TV.

What I'm trying to say is that the club needs to be encouraging members to come to the games, we cant afford to have 14k crowds all the time.

I know many might think because the club has already got its membership money, they dont give a **** if people turn up, but they should.

How are we ever going to get an upgrade if we only average 14k? Its stupid.

    Everyone turn up tomorrow

    Referee: Peter O'Leary

Odds: Western Sydney Wanderers $3.60, Draw $3.55, Melbourne Victory $2.00 (Sportsbet.com.au)

    LIKELY TEAMS

Western Sydney (4-2-3-1): Covic; Gallaway, Topor-Stanley, Spiranovic, Alessi; Trifiro, La Rocca; Sotirio, Ward, Castelen; Bulut.

Melbourne Victory (4-2-3-1): Coe; Galloway, Delpierre, Ansell, Georgievski; Valeri, Milligan; Ben Khalfallah, Finkler, Pain; Berisha.

    FIVE TO WATCH

    1. Kerem Bulut (Western Sydney Wanderers)

It remains to be seen if Bulut will start but given the striker missed the match against Melbourne City on Wednesday – after being charged with intimidation following a Tuesday night incident – his services are probably required early. If he can run out 60 minutes, that would give Tomi Juric a chance to fire the Wanderers home late.

    2. Fahid Ben Khalfallah (Melbourne Victory)

Signing of the season? He's certainly in the mix with Nathan Burns and Aaron Mooy. The Tunisian's breathtaking ability down the left has made him one of the league's must-watch stars. Whoever the Wanderers put at right-back, likely to be young Daniel Alessi, will have a challenging night.

    3. Ante Covic (Western Sydney Wanderers)

Was Covic dropped for the past two matches or just rested? Dean Bouzanis came in and is clearly going to be the long-term option when Covic eventually retires. However, Covic will be out to prove he's top dog once more – and he sure loves playing against the club that let him go after being named their player of the year in 2012-13.

    4. Matthieu Delpierre (Melbourne Victory)

Generally impressive whenever he gets on the field for the Victory but it's only happened five times this year – not enough for a defender on top dollar. He's battling not only to prove his worth but to get the club to re-sign him. He turns 34 next month and needs to play for the rest of the season to get a new deal.

    5. Nick Ward (Western Sydney Wanderers)

Hasn't made an appearance yet for his new club (his fifth in the A-League) but Ward will be determined to have one last go at making it work at this level. Hasn't played in a long time but the Wanderers' situation is surely so desperate, especially with Mateo Poljak's injury, that he'll either have to start or come off the bench.

    THE KEY MATCH-UP

Nikolai Topor-Stanley (Western Sydney Wanderers) v Besart Berisha (Melbourne Victory)

Berisha has scored in four of his last five appearances against Western Sydney which has to say something about his ability to unsettle their defence. Matthew Spiranovic has to pass a fitness to test to play and if he doesn't, that heightens the load on Topor-Stanley, likely to back up from 90 minutes midweek.

    IN THE DUGOUT

    Tony Popovic (Western Sydney Wanderers)

Scoring is now coming easily to the Wanderers it seems – and Popovic would love that to continue for another week given they've scored just once in their past five matches against Victory. Still, with a slew of changes to be made by the manager it looms as tough ask.

    Kevin Muscat (Melbourne Victory)

The Victory are only three points off top spot and have a game in hand but haven't quite hit full throttle yet. A draw with Perth on the back of a loss to Wellington has stalled their run for now and Muscat will be well aware that a win shoots them right back into contention. He'll pick a side to exploit the Wanderers' physical issues.

Pretty sure Kalmar scored against them last time we played and Bridge scored against them the time before that. Actually, I haven't checked but haven't we scored against them in all of our last five matches?
