Most generic HAL players will disappear after the VIC game, and the last Mohicans will walk out of the door with Elrich ....

That will actually be a sad day...to me.

I still remember him being one of the prominent faces of WSW before we started.

And I remember a huge poster of Aaron Mooy in our local shopping centre...as the local face of the Wanderers.

Anyway...Tarek will be deserving of a decent farewell...and not a shove in the back as he "disappears". ;)

PS Are we still pals? :pardon:

Ummmmmmm...your opening remark makes me nervous, my friend.

    This IS the A League.

100% of his job is to work around the limitations of this league....surely?

It's wonderful that he knows what it will take to make us competitive....and that he has insights into the best there is.

But hopefully he's taking a good look at SFC, MV and what's happening in Perth to get a grasp of how to work with what he has on offer here.

Isn't that what FCB said he does!?

To Ed......no it's not quite what he said.

But maybe I'm  quibbling over a detail.

    Semi-serious! :pardon:

Thought my persistent..... errr…….skepticism may have become irritating. :D

    But I'll shut up now.....until about Round 3 next season....if we haven't won a game. :D

    See you! :friends:

I was sitting on the fence about going or not but if it's farewell Bridge then I'm in.  Agree with wendy re: Tarek, he gives his all and is not a player we signed to sit in the middle of defence and play 90 every week, his body let us down a few times but I honestly don't think he ever did.

Wendy, I know this is off topic, but why nervous?

We are having conversations about lack of success primarily because of ongoing sub standard import recruitment, plus Popa leaving when he did. MB is well connected, the new crop of imports will be different from what we've seen in recent years. Plus we'll have a top notch fitness coach at the start of pre season.

The whole club has to work around the limitations, and it chooses not to breach the cap. Instead, the focus was on infrastructure. WSW have just gone live with the new training facility, and the new stadium is waiting. I believe that WSW have used the last seven years far better than Smurfs, VIC, Glory have used the 15 years they had, and it will make a difference.

The owners consider the academy their crown jewel. Gombau chose to ignore that, while MB is running with it. He knows what an academy is supposed to look like, and that's what he wants to bring to the club. This season we've seen Suman, Greenwood, Wilmering, Cordier, Tass, Russel, Majok in the HAL squad, and on the pitch. Monge, Grozos, maybe Roberts, and a couple of others to come next. Add Baccus and JoD to the list. These guys are already making HAL journeymen redundant, and that's a good thing.

From here onward the others have reason to be nervous. Not us.

We are heading in the right direction, maybe not on the pitch with the seniors (brain farts/ sub-par performances) as this season as shown but as a club wanting to grow from grass roots up and not have the top local talent leave for Europe the first chance they get will be definitely a big plus for us in the next decade compared to the other HAL clubs. From what i have read the new academy will be free for developing kids and the only other club to do that is the Roar so far. Sooner or later we will be the first club in Australia to reach the 3 star world class academy status, its only a matter of time with the investment put into it.

Agree that we need to start making HAL journeymen redundant and let the young blood give it a good shot to prove they either have what it takes or not at the top level in Australia.

The Evergrande cup championship was where we showed this positive progress and development as well, https://www.goal.com/en-au/news/wanderers-academy-shows-age-is-no-issue-after-shining/1xwxsrm7k4zkl1vf6f26j7dekl

Don’t joke about it, I drove over an hour to watch that shower of shite on Saturday night, they could have at least looked liked they gave a stuff for the club.

Our stylish German has been too soft

While I have some sympathy for what you had to put up with following your long drive, spare a thought for those of us who watched it at home where we also had to sit through the replays, and the post-game discussion.

Very interesting and maybe pre-mature post mortem by MB https://www.wswanderersfc.com.au/video/press-conference-26-april-markus-babbel

MB: "The season for [the coaching group] was very difficult. We had not many self driven players, so we always had to push."

And Bridgey: "[No 9 position] is quite easy in terms of running, so I don't know what Ori has been complaining about."

LOL - do I dare take a look at your interview, FCB?

Think I'll give it a miss....and spare you any more of my …..doubts! :meep:

I'm thinking he's already said more than perhaps was necessary...and there'll be a few noses out of joint!  :lol:

Could be wrong, but I think this will potentially be the first time we play Victory with Honda?

    First time at home.

We lost 4-0 with Honda in Rd 6 away.

Babbel needs to use the Kurz strategy from their 1-0 win over the Vuck to nullify Honda

Can’t see why I should bother turning up when that shower of shite clocked off last week

Mate, get to the football league thread and discuss all things Sarfend...I have given your mob a mention in the crazy league 1 relegation flight...

I am in the same boat, last week we had a good day at Terigal and should have stayed there and missed the game. It left a bad taste and then the long drive home didn't help.

The only reason I may still go is to farewell Bridge and I assume Terek.

Literally, the only reason I am considering going is to send off The King!

Watch it. He is very honest about the team and the coaching staff, but doesn't place blame on one or the other. It's been collectively a bit shite from everyone and he acknowledges that.

    • Interesting sequence of events that probably doesn't happen very often.
    • Best shown by a chance Toure had when an Indonesian player had fallen over, he had a simple ball about 10 meters that would have put one of our attackers clean through for a one on one. He over-hit it and ruined the chance. Also falling for the same old Asian team diving & time wasting, by giving away stupid fouls to let them fall over and sit on the ground for minutes. 11 minutes stoppage time is probably half what it deserved.
    • Yet again, a failure of pace and power football over technically skilled football in on display in the Olyroos vs Indonesia.  We need to develop skills over pace at all levels
