Popovic confirmed goalkeeper Ante Covic will be fit for the clash having missed the Glory match with injury, but striker Tomi Juric will be on the sideline.

Golgol Mebrahtu, Antony Golec and Daniel Mullen were all signed exclusively for the Wanderers' ACL campaign but Popovic said they wouldn't be ready to play on Wednesday.

Dissapointing for the new boys considering they were signed specifically for this comp. It's so important to start a group game with a win, especially when playing at home. Key players like Polenz and Shinji will be well rested and Spira will deal with anything their stars can throw at our back line. Ante back in goal will bring familiarity and understanding so I can't see Ulsan scoring from open play tonight. I wouldn't let a dodgy penalty be out of the realms of possibility with the quality of referee that we see in these competitions. We need an early goal tonight. If it's still 0-0 with 30 mins to go, Ulsan will shut up shop and try hold on for a point. We'll see some time wasting, diving and other antics for sure.

Mostly sunny morning. Isolated showers and the chance of thunderstorms in afternoon and evening. Light winds becoming north to northwesterly 15 to 20 km/h in the middle of the day then turning northeasterly 15 to 25 km/h in the afternoon.

As for the new guys signed for ACL only, i can see them doing the long trips to away games to reduce the stress that the bodies our regular guys is under come the pointy end of the A-league season. Just the same as our "2nd string" team travelling to perth.

Popa is a realist, although he'll send the boys out with a plan to try and win every game he knows thats not likely or even possible, especially first time in the comp, someone will have an off night and it mightn't be something he can control (refs etc) He is aware that to develop into the huge club we desire to be, we need to compete in the ACL most years and grow in knowledge and confidence. This year will be a great learning experience for him and the guys. Any success we have is an awesome bonus, IMO its more important to ensure we get to compete again next year and do a little better than to try and do the impossible. As a result I expect the 3 ACL signings to play a part in each of our away trips and some of our key players will be kept at home to prep for A-League. Which is the whole reason the rotation policy has been used since the start of the season.

this is going to be our toughest battle so far in our short history and we need to take it as part of our learning curve and entry into gaining more knowledge of how good we can compete against the best teams in Asia. The team have good faith in Popa and vice versa, we just need to take the chances that we get and also impose our game play being the home team. Us as fans have to do our part and let them know they are in Wanderland and make sure they can hear us. The 12th man is us tonight, Asia has heard about us now its time to for them to see us in action!

agree big time tranquillo...toughest test thus far..lets be realistic as the jump in quality tonight from watching and playing against  our HAL teams should be fairly evident -even to the un-edcated football supporter. we have to be patient on and off the field...the 12th man- as in us will be vital....any chances must be taken - any lapses will be punished especially in the back third so we must be smart with the ball and be tight/compact when we haven't got it. this teams import brazilians are suppose to be handy as well.....

oh and if we score more than them that should help ;)

ps: rain, hail, shine whatever we go 'mental' and turn wanderland into a graveyard for the opposition.

apparently this is happening tonight as well, could play in our favour to bring more tension and unwanted noise for our visitors unless they are part of hatamotos new alliance with the AG strategy to keep an even closer birds eye view on us!

So nervous for this. I'm not fussed about the result, even if we get pumped 4-0, but just that we'll be on the world stage. Dream come-*******-true!

Yeah, result won't bother me too much as long as we try our best.

There was similar helicopter activity in Hobart during the Federation Cup tie between Australia and Russia.  I wonder whether this is preparation for security response for the Asian Cup.

Is that to cover up the Pirtek sponsorship due to the ACL restrictions? regardless. I like it.

I believe so. As you can see all non-AFC advertising is covered up. I can't quite see 100% but either the front row is tarped (due to distance restrictions, pitch to first row) or its the top of the LED adboards. Plus, the building on the far right in the background =  my work. Hehe

Where do you work Gazmon? My building is in that picture too.

The front row isn't tarped, the black behind the LED adboards are the standard advertising boards.

    Awesome photo btw
