Pre-season might be over, finally. Hallelujah.

    Are you serious?

Wellington were by far the worst team we have played this season. In fact, I'd go as far as saying they were amongst the worst A-League teams tonight to ever grace a field in the competition.

The fact we didn't win by more than 4 is a bit embarrassing tbh.

We are still no where near the **** from the East.

If we can beat Newcastle at home next week (a real test), then maybe, things are slowly starting to change.

You are right , proper litmus test against Newcastle coming up, just back cannot believe how good Iko is, just soooo pleasing on the eye and what a beautiful outside of the foot finish, sheer class young man.

Iko on the right cjeudo on the left, looks lovely and balanced, cannot believe we shredded so many chances tonight, thought their centre halves were their best of their bunch, off the line clearances, last ditch , etc

Just a lovely warm feeling growing inside now, bring on the jets LET'S BELIEVE !!!!!!!!

Good thing is we finally pumped a team for the first time in a long time. We need to make this more of a habit. Also creating many chances and missing is not necessarily a bad thing. You are creating chances which is important in the first place. The next step is to start converting more of them.

The Nix keeper made Sotirio look good. Think of the implications of that. This is all building to a sweet crescendo Derby. Our supporters. Where are ya all ya seats are empty.

    Mate, just being realistic.

FCB has been Gombau's harshest critic on here. He's been the one screaming the loudest for him to go. I don't think it's unreasonable to question his comment stating the pre season might be over after one decent win, and I tried to put that into perspective.

For the record, I'm a good friend of FCB and have not been a "Gombau Out" person.

Mate, I enjoyed the win, that's for sure!! When was the last time we put 4 away against a team? Sensational night.

I hope the curry you've just ordered treats you as well as our result tonight. :good:

For sure enjoy the win...and enjoy that we finally put our foot through a weaker opponent...that we finally scored in the 2nd half, and that we didn't collapse after 60 mins and allow them back in it!

FFA Cup vs Bentleigh last August. In the A-League last time was against the Mariners in December 2016.

Me too. Well a chicken tikka roll. Close enough.

    WE'RE GONNA WIN THE LEAGUE*

*If Oreo, Carrusca and Ikon stay fit

    * And esfc get a bunch of injuries

*and we have a lot of luck

How good was Sotirio's finish, beating the keeper for lack of pace. Genius.

I know Wellington are dismal right now, though I heard the commentators say we just broke our record for most shots in a single match? We were all over them from start to finish and actually lifted in intensity in the second half for once! So, so happy & a very entertained supporter right now. If this is a glimpse of Gombau ball in full flight I'm excited.

As traumatising as the bad results have been, I have to add his two signings so far have been very good. Much better then most of Popa's in the last 3 seasons. If that carries on into the off season we should have a very dangerous squad next year.

Wellington aren’t the greatest team but you can only play what’s in front of you and we played very well. It feels good to crucify an opponent haha

    Phoenix Results

    R07 v Wanderers 0-4
