Slightly awkward for me because while I was Poznan-ing, the people in the row right behind me decided to not participate - and the guy in the seat right behind me decided to stare me down for the entire minute or so.

Well I can imagine this being the case, but with the stadium pretty much full of members, it probably won't take long for people either to give up their embarrassment / unease / resistance to it, OR for those around them to at least know what to expect it they don't join in. I imagine that friendships will be forged with the people sitting together at home games...that will make it easier for those who feel uncomfortable about the "up-close-and-personal" type aspect (which is not at all an issue for me) 

... So what's your point...

Everything i'm going to say has been said before..but basically I dont feel bad turning my back on the players because its an act which says "we support you no matter what happens on the field." 

and yeh, no obligation to do it if you arent in RBB

In answer to your question Wendy, given a choice I'd probably prefer to face the pitch, but whatever ...... I don't feel uncomfortable or anything.

Fire ban tomorrow. Considering the sensitive nature of the last week I hope anybody who decides or even thinks about lighting a flare gets pointed out. It will piss me off in a massive way if someone does it. Considering how many people have lost their homes and possessions in the last week, only a moron would try something like that tomorrow.

It's going to be well over 30 degrees tomorrow - PLEASE remember to wear sunscreen and keep your fluids up ( )!

I agree and don't really believe turning your back to those you support is ever a good gesture.. Nevertheless its a moment of solidarity and will support it.. Perhaps doing it at the 1/2 time whistle or just not turning around .. You'll be pissed if a goal is scored during it.. :-) 

We do it in the 80th minute. We've always done it in the 80th minute and it's not going to change.

Haliti scored during it last year and it was a great moment.

If they do (they'd better not! ARGH!)  -  remember you can get FREE water from the bars - serving alcohol, they have to provide water for free.

And hopefully they have it to the side, so people don't have to queue up for it...

but really, If they do confiscate water they are putting our health at risk and complaints will be made! 

Gulp.... didn't know where to put this...There are a few Posnan threads, but I think they're in RBB type forums, and I usually avoid posting there. So, regarding the Posnan, which I think is now pretty much an around the stadium expectation, is anyone else uncomfortable about the turning away from the game aspect? Where I sat at Bluetongue...upstairs and a Bay further away from the RBB end, it was prob 50-50 Wanderers and Mariners.

 

When the Posnan started, some WSW supporters got up with varying degrees of confidence and commitment. We were 2nd from the back row, with solid WSW supporters behind us. They seemed to know the chants, and I'm guessing, attended game at Parra. I stood up rather hesitantly, but the people behind me very politely indicated that they were wanting to watch goal-mouth action, and were plainly not going to stand up...nor were they going to turn their backs. To me, this was fair enough. I sat down.

 

I know it'll be different at Parra tomorrow.

 

I really, REALLY like the unity shown in the joining together, shoulder -to-shoulder experience/display, ...but I really REALLY feel uncomfortable about turning away from the game. This is partly because I don't want to miss what's going on, but it's mainly because it feels really disrespectful to the players, whose efforts are why we are there. I'm sure it's cool with the player...but it makes me uncomfortable.

 

I wouldn't have any problem doing this facing the pitch...and I'm sure there's a reason for backs being turned (I just don't know why that is the case except it was copied by other overseas supporters that way )

 

I'm interested in hearing what others here think. PS I don't really feel in the mood for any or or or Thanks !! I'm just asking...

I don't think the players think that we're not interested in them, ie. "turning our back on them". I think they know that it's just a choreography.

I'm not in the RBB, but I've been doing the Poznan with the people that are around me since last season's 1-0 away win at the Mariners. It's great fun and when you watch the replay on TV and the whole stadium is doing it, it looks fantastic! And you know that you were part of creating that spectacle.

As to anybody behind me who chooses not to do it (actually they'd be in front of me once I turned around doing the Poznan), it's tough luck, they can stand up for one minute if they want to watch the game or they can look at the big screen. I'm sure they'll survive for one minute.

So... First home game today.

I always thought of the Poznan as not turning our back on anyone. So what our boys no what it is and it looks amazing. I want a stadium wide one so we can all join in. It isn't turning our back on them, it doesn't go that deep

The Poznan suits my thinking about the Wanderers. Chairman Gorman said you cannot build a club based on on-field results. I go to games to be part of the RBB. What happens on the pitch is only a small part of why I am there. I didn't feel like that Game One but have since 'gotten with the program' as far as understanding what Active means and represents. When we held our silent protest Season One it was a signal that sometimes there are 'off-field' issues more important than results. Where I stand in 56 I see little of the game but my eyes are on the capo and how we as Actives perform. I would be in favour of the Northern Terrace doing a 45 minute Poznan during any home Derby game against FC. The half 'the sky blue' plays toward the NT goal would be an opportunity for us to 'sacrifice' our view and make a 'we don't give a ..' statement. If Wanderers in the stands could also join in by throwing sandals at them....that would be poetry.
