  • 0-0 Draw Sees Wanderers Crawl Top

    mack

A lack of killer instinct saw the Wanderers come away with a point against Adelaide tonight.

There were two key moments in this game, which was yet another example of the Wanderers dominating possession and the chances, but not taking any of them.

The first key moment was a disgraceful dive from Bruce Kamau, who was put through on goal, only to try and con the referee into awarding what would have been a straight red card to Liam Reddy. The visiting Japanese referee was not fooled, and duly punished the atrocious behaviour with a yellow card for diving. Replays proved that Kamau had no eyes on the ball, diving through the air before even getting close to Reddy.

Moments before full time, the Wanderers finally fashioned a clear cut chance. Dario Vidosic combined with Scott Jamieson down the left flank, the fullback's cross was flicked on by the boot of Adelaide defender Iacopo La Rocca, falling to Mark Bridge. The Wanderers leading all time scorer seemed certain to bulge the net, but his shot pulled agonizingly wide to see the game finish 0-0.

The draw still sees Western Sydney top of the table, and winning their remaining three games will see them win their second Premiership.

Ive suggested this so many times before. Its simple. Instead of having an opt out and give away your ticket. You have to opt in to your seat. Each game you have to click that you want to sit in your seat. (Say 2 weeks prior or something) If you dont opt in the seat is then up for public sale.

The people that cant be bothered to click attending will miss out! tough luck, you now have learnt and for rest of the season will hit attending.

As much as I like the idea in theory, in reality it wouldn't work and all you would end up doing is pissing a lot of people off.

Not everybody knows whether they can make a game one or two weeks out.

Legally, I don't think you'd be able to do it either. When you pay for your membership, it legally entitles you to do what you want with your seat (within limits). If you want to pay your money and turn up to one game all season, there's nothing anybody can do about it.

I think a minimum amount of attendances before being able to renew you membership is not a bad idea - not sure what that minimum would be of course...I'm sure some people would think it should be nearly 100%

I think legally they'd be fine if they put it in the terms and conditions when you bought your membership. They'd be saying that you have purchased the first rights to the seat.

But yeah, it'd annoy people so don't think it's the way to go. As said before, the move and a larger ground might get rid of people who have bought a season pass just to sell it on.

I like the idea of a minimum amount of attendances but again, hard to police fairly.

We started the round in second place. We ended the round 1 point clear in first place. The outcome of the premiership is now in our hands. We dominated one of our biggest rivals for the premiership. We should have won it but we didn't. However, we have games against 6th, 8th & 10th as our final 3 games. Almost a perfect run in versus what it could look like. We hold the premiership destiny in our hands. I for one will take that. COYW - bring it home.

    Perspective  :good:

Neville was making some great overlapping runs down the line but Romeo would rarely play him the ball or waited too long and cause us to have to play it back and start over. Down the left side Sotirio and Jamieson were doing it perfectly.

Why would you pass it to the worst crosser of the ball in the world, not OZ but the f*kking world. How he is even in the starting line up is beyond me. His crossing is atrocious and 99% of the time goes straight over everyone's head and ends up a throw in or goal kick. He is a DUD.
His delivery into the box last night was actually quite good and consistent in comparison to past performances. The only reason why it seemed like it was going over everyone's heads is because there was hardly anyone at the far post to get something on it.

Your either taking the piss or are meaning the corner post here...  :ninja:

Every single cross bar one of his all game landed inside the 18yd box...   :smurfnono:

Anyone else pick up on the foreshadowing of the 0-0 draw played out on FIFA on the big screen?

Whoever was playing that was absolutely atrocious. If it was me on the controls we'd have finished the game 3-0 with a pio hat trick.

Yep that was me with 23 shots on goal to 1, in a single half. It can be challenging to score with such **** **** strikers, but I should have one easy. In the end standing up and looking down was messing with my grip and depth perception. Maybe I'm getting old.

Either way I'll bite - lets tee up a game. I'll beat you 3-0, choose your platform.

So, City Roar and ADE are all sending players to the Socceroos? Brings back memories when we were at the receiving end of this in S2.

The only difference is that we were the ONLY HAL team who had Socceroos represent....  :good:

They can't auto cancel your membership if you don't attend x% of games. You've bought it. you can do what you want with it.

What they CAN do is upon renewal, they ring up those that haven't attend more than 60% and ask why. Get some info gathering happening.

And no to the opt-in. That's just ridiculous and not treating your members with respect at all. opt-out is the way to go. Just more need to be able to do it or have the will to do it.

^^^Relax guys, it will only be an issue for one morte game...then the new Wanderland...  :woah:  :woah:  :woah:

The issue will become even more relevant at the new Wanderland

The new old Wanderland in 3 seasons, or the new intermediate Wanderand(s) for the next next 3 seasons?

It will be interesting to see how they run it till the new Parra Stadium is available...I personally see the atmosphere being degraded significantly @ANZ, and while there may be a run on casuals - I wonder about the overall membership numbers being sustained after a probable initial increase...I have my doubts

The issue is that the drop off in membership will be dependent on:

    - Price of memberships

    - Those people that want a membership in the new stadium & a preference in where they sit

    - Those that want to keep there foundation member status

The reason why this issue is important for the next few years:

    - We don't want it to be common place that members don't show up, just because we play in a ****** stadium doesn't mean it is acceptable that x thousand members don't show up

    - We aren't playing all our games at ANZ, only a handful. Will be the same issue at Spotless, Campbelltown & Penrith

    Casual attendance will depend on:

    - How well the team is going

    - Whether we get a big marquee

    - Big games

I still can't see how they are going to include Penrith or Campbelltown in any membership packages unless it's opt in for those games or its general admission for a lot of packages with the understanding you might be on the hill. There aren't enough seats for everyone and rbb will have to be in seated areas.
