Wanderers midfielder Andreu Guerao Mayoral scored a brace in Adelaide, unfortunately for his new club however, the first was into the back of his own net.
Andreu scored at the same end, one in each half, the first as a result of a Tarek Elrich run down the left flank. The Australian international fullback's cutback deflected off the head of Mayoral, leaving Andrew Redmayne no chance to make a save.
Once again a failure to apply a finish or killer final ball kept the Wanderers supporters on edge, as Piovaccari, Castelen and Sotirio in particular butchered spectacular chances to provide either a goal or an assist, Sotitio with the worst of the lot when he blazed over from point blank range when he should have been able to score or set up a team-mate to do so.
Defensively the Wanderers were much improved on their loss to Brisbane, giving Adelaide little time or space to work with. Craig Goodwin had the shot of the night for Adelaide, a smashing long range effort that Andrew Redmayne produced a miracle save against, turning the ball onto the crossbar with his fingertips. The save kept his side in the contest before they put the game back on level terms.
The stirring second half comeback was sealed after Andreu pounced on pass from Tarek Elrich deep inside the Red's penalty area that didn't even make it out of the box before being intercepted. The Spanish midfielder skipped easily past a forlorn challenge before he blasted a shot that Adelaide keeper John Hall wasn't able to keep out..
