  • Andreu 1 - Andreu 1

    mack

Wanderers midfielder Andreu Guerao Mayoral scored a brace in Adelaide, unfortunately for his new club however, the first was into the back of his own net.

Andreu scored at the same end, one in each half, the first as a result of a Tarek Elrich run down the left flank. The Australian international fullback's cutback deflected off the head of Mayoral, leaving Andrew Redmayne no chance to make a save.

Once again a failure to apply a finish or killer final ball kept the Wanderers supporters on edge, as Piovaccari, Castelen and Sotirio in particular butchered spectacular chances to provide either a goal or an assist, Sotitio with the worst of the lot when he blazed over from point blank range when he should have been able to score or set up a team-mate to do so.

Defensively the Wanderers were much improved on their loss to Brisbane, giving Adelaide little time or space to work with. Craig Goodwin had the shot of the night for Adelaide, a smashing long range effort that Andrew Redmayne produced a miracle save against, turning the ball onto the crossbar with his fingertips. The save kept his side in the contest before they put the game back on level terms.

The stirring second half comeback was sealed after Andreu pounced on pass from Tarek Elrich deep inside the Red's penalty area that didn't even make it out of the box before being intercepted. The Spanish midfielder skipped easily past a forlorn challenge before he blasted a shot that Adelaide keeper John Hall wasn't able to keep out..

Castelen's first touch, poor teamwork and poor decisions are having a detrimental effect on the whole team. He could do with a week on the sidelines.

He provides too much pace and creativity to leave him out at the moment he needs to stay in the team but has much work to do!

Castelen is quality, if he is born with better genetics and he isn't injury prone and is probably still playing in Bundesliga, Eeredivisie or Ligue 1 and have at least 20 more caps for The Netherlands

    Really torc?

Are we talking about not giving a good enough final ball? I'm sure when Popa & the team review the tape they'll put Castelen to the sword on it! Poor teamwork? Don't think so. Poor first touch? Not really, he got past players at will. Poor decisions? 100%, this guy was getting into great positions but not giving a good enough final ball, if that is our only issue it is onwards & upwards!

100% boro, everything positive or chance we create seems to happen through him. He is the catalyst for everything good happening with our attack, crazy to bench him! With his genetics he was probably hoping that he could do a bit more running, short bursts are great but he doesn't have a big engine like fathead.

I feel that hopefully that was the end of Sotirio.

No matter what Castelen does, he will always be hungry for the ball.

Scott Jamieson, there is absolutely nothing bad I can say about you, you are a tank.

Mitch Nicholls a stand out again

Neville and Dimas need to work on there passing asap. Either wayward or to soft not reaching the target.

Federico to me, it already seems he will not fit in and come good. Hope I'm wrong but it doesn't look any good.

Nichols and castelan played good, castelan will come good when it comes to options in the front end.

Sotorio, not much more I can say that hasn't already been said. Like horses race with blinkers. He plays with a blind fold.

Everyone else did there job effectively

Sotirio is the type of player you release and he joins another team to come back and make you regret it.

WSW are getting good at that.

Sotirio is doing a pretty good job of hiding his potential at the moment.

I know what you mean though.

Needs a spell on the sidelines.

I'm suggesting that he be dropped to the subs for a game because it looks like he's trying to take on an extra man for each time he loses the ball. The rest of the team is getting annoyed and players like Pio are giving up making runs off the ball as a result.

Far too many times Romeo took one too many touches. That's poor decision making and poor teamwork in my opinion - rather than chance on a shot or try for a cross, he was dispossessed far too many times.

He has the best dribbling ability in the league, no doubt, but there were at least 3-4 occasions where his first touch left a lot to be desired tonight. It wasn't only the case tonight - he often takes a heavy touch. It's not his technique that is the problem - it looks like a hesitation thing where he is in two minds about how to split the defence.

Sometimes I am quick to defend him because the attacking movement of teammates is poor or non existent. Tonight, Mitch Nichols did a great job arriving into the area. Scott Neville provided an option behind or wider. Dimas and Andreu were well positioned to receive passes from any players with their backs turned to the goal.

What I'm trying to say that beating 4 players with a dribble is as good as not beating any if you don't follow up with a pass or shot that is on target. Tonight he was actively involved and only managed 2 shots on target. He really should have scored at least 1. He could have had a hattrick of assists but only played poor balls that lagged behind the attacking runs or came in early to a static man. That was neither creativity nor flair.

I'm suggesting we put federico in a different paddock and give him the silent treatment before he goes back to Italy with mental problems
