  • Andreu 1 - Andreu 1

    mack

Wanderers midfielder Andreu Guerao Mayoral scored a brace in Adelaide, unfortunately for his new club however, the first was into the back of his own net.

Andreu scored at the same end, one in each half, the first as a result of a Tarek Elrich run down the left flank. The Australian international fullback's cutback deflected off the head of Mayoral, leaving Andrew Redmayne no chance to make a save.

Once again a failure to apply a finish or killer final ball kept the Wanderers supporters on edge, as Piovaccari, Castelen and Sotirio in particular butchered spectacular chances to provide either a goal or an assist, Sotitio with the worst of the lot when he blazed over from point blank range when he should have been able to score or set up a team-mate to do so.

Defensively the Wanderers were much improved on their loss to Brisbane, giving Adelaide little time or space to work with. Craig Goodwin had the shot of the night for Adelaide, a smashing long range effort that Andrew Redmayne produced a miracle save against, turning the ball onto the crossbar with his fingertips. The save kept his side in the contest before they put the game back on level terms.

The stirring second half comeback was sealed after Andreu pounced on pass from Tarek Elrich deep inside the Red's penalty area that didn't even make it out of the box before being intercepted. The Spanish midfielder skipped easily past a forlorn challenge before he blasted a shot that Adelaide keeper John Hall wasn't able to keep out..

We are predominately attacking down the right hand side via Row-Mayo & our opponents are double teaming him when they can.

Jamo has been noticeably quiet since Bridge got injured.

When Dario / Bridge start the game, we should be able to attack down both flanks, thereby stretching our opponents defences & creating more space & scoring opportunities for Fred.

    That's my theory.

    Theory ...  :golecapproves:

I thought Jamo was fantastic busting a gut up and down that sideline, and Sotirio is getting better every week he plays with him.

we have a faarken quick left side at the moment. Two very exciting footballers.

I agree having Fat-head hugging the left touchline means defenders have to drift out to cover him and it will stretch them.Dario should be a better version of Bridge, taking up a similar role but with a little more final ball quality.

Did anyone see the Seb Ryall effort against the Jets? A triple double with pike in their box. Gotta watch that grub too.!

After reading this thread, it looks like it might be time for another how quick we are to sack a bloke thread, this time focused on our marquee man.

I can't wait for Federico to starting scoring, just so I don't have to read 5 pages of f*cking dribble from people who have no f*cking clue.  :xnod:

He best pull his finger out, or I'll have to give consideration to sacking him from my fantasy team.

Well that's the reason he can't score.

I've just sacked Harry Kane from mine to hope he starts scoring for Spurs. haha

It's been noticeable in the last 2 games how much more penetration we've had, after Dario has come on as a substitute.

Gen Z syndrome, mate: instant results are all that matters. Some people in the UK media were disappointed that Liverpool are not playing like Dortmund yet?! The impossible needs to happen immediately, wonders can take somewhat longer.

Yup. Although Sotirio runs defenders ragged its bad enough having one winger lacking any finishing touches let alone 2. We lose pace with Vidosic but its much more effective.

I look forward to Bridge and GolGol being back. Will put pressure on Castelan to work harder on finding the right choices to make.

That being said i get the feeling for the Derby that Pio will be on the bench with Sotirio playing up front.

    No chance.

Pio's physical presence will be needed in the derby. Sotirio's pace will be wasted as a no.9.

And missing the target from 3 yards out isn't doing him any favours.  :nono:

I was at the game on Friday. Our supporters were treated with respect and made to feel welcome. I have to commend the players for making the effort to come down and shake hands with the small amount of supporters we had there, especially Dario who hung around the longest.

In regards to the game I'm a bit concerned with Neville and Sotirio. I am also a bit concerned about the "playing out" options that Redmayne has from goal kicks....not overly confident in Hamill, Neville or NTS to deliver the positive and attacking second pass to someone of the midfield without it being a hospital pass.....Thoughts??

Good night though, good result and good pizzeria 100 meters from the stadium.

Actually its my fault - i had money on him in the any time scorer market for games 1 and 2, so to be considerate to him , the team and the fans i wont be taking him this Saturday. :clapping:

In fairness, if he uses his backside to shoot I think he could be deadly up front. His strike rate using his arse is incomparable in world football Edited by Alexander

That's because most players have either one or two very capable feet to do that job. I just don't see how weaponising Sotirio's backside is the answer to our current questions

Castelen is quality, if he is born with better genetics and he isn't injury prone and is probably still playing in Bundesliga, Eeredivisie or Ligue 1 and have at least 20 more caps for The Netherlands

Agree with this. It's only a matter of time before he is crocked unfortunately.

He is a step ahead of most others at this level.

He would be a useful player in a futsal team. Close ball skills are impressive

This whinging talk is hinged on people feeling impinged and giving 'em a right minging singed feeling.

Stop the binging on whinging before we all get unhinged.

I think we are on the fringe of that already.

This is starting to make me cringe...

welcome to the forum, i now want pizza, i agree with what you said about playing out from the back but i feel they have improved and we have a lot of talent to help with the transition into the midfield

    • Its the coach, the football played last night and against Jordan was atrocious, Toure should have been hooked at half time and be replaced by either of the Kuol boys.
    • Both goals were on Russell to be fair to him he's not a Left Back. That's all on Rudan
    • Pep Guardiola: "I'm going to defend you until the last day of our lives in the press". Rudan: Runs onto the field at full-time to berate an attacker for a goal coughed up by the two fullbacks being lazy, then slates him in a post-game interview and the press conference.  Sure, he apologised for "singling him out", did he apologise for singling out the wrong player to start with? The Mariners & Nix finished 5th & 6th in 21/22 when Rudan took over. Rudan's second year we finished 4th then lost to the smurfs in Round 1 while the Mariners won the Grand Final. 3rd year, CCM are the favourites for the Premiership, the Nix have a chance if CCM drop points, and we're back in 6th with a game tomorrow against a team who beat us 7-0 earlier in the season that if we lose we're out of the finals spots, and even if we made it, we're probably just going to lose to Victory in Week 1. I'm so over this ****. Rudan has had three years and done **** all to improve things, he's not done well enough to add all this pointless drama and bullshit.
