  • Berisha Blasts Brace

    mack

A brace from Besart Berisha either side of a goal from Archie Thompson saw Melbourne Victory run out comprehensive winners over a depleted Western Sydney Wanderers.

The third meeting between the clubs this season went the same way as the other two, despite an early promising start by the Wanderers, the Victory opened the scoring after breaking down the left flank in the 25th minute as Khalfallah found Berisha with a perfect cross that the Albanian striker couldn't miss with a point blank header.

The Wanderers had their best chance of the night shortly after the goal, with a game of pinball in the Victory penalty area that saw Nathan Coe make a double save, first from Nick Kalmar then Kerem Bulut.

By the time an hour rolled around the Red & Black petrol tank was gone, and Archie Thompson took full advantage, as Iacopo La Rocca charged out well into the Victory half, completely missing the ball and setting up Khalfallah to beat Topor-Stanley to the ball. He delivered a simple through ball and Thompson made no mistake to slot it past his ex-teammate Ante Covic.

Khalfallah had a hat-trick of assists with a lofted through ball that Berisha latched onto, Covic flying out of his penalty area but getting nowhere near stopping Berisha from tapping into an open net.

The Wanderers next match is against FC Seoul in the Asian Champions League on Wednesday the 18th of March in Korea.

    After watching a-league extra time.

    Fozzy is right.

Where was the PFA in all of this? If the PFA are concerned about the players welfare, why didn't they step in to prevent this farce of a schedule happening?

He also mentioned that the FFA are not understanding the travel schedule the players have to endure shen traveling to Asia to play an ACL game..

Alrighty, so we all wear our WSW jerseys, go to the Krispy Kreme store next door, order items, and stand outside Maccas, glaring in through the windows, eating our better-than-a-Maccas-sundae items!.

I was in the Stanmore Maccas tonight, and there was no intimidation, not even once, and not a single person suggested I take it outside to the car park.

Very disappointing. These inner west Maccas are ******* soft, mate. Soft as.

People have young kids or they have other engagements to get to or an early start the next day, these situations are understandable but let's be honest, leaving 10 minutes early helps this situation how exactly?

There is a 21:43 and then a 22:43 train from parra to the mountains, I don't know how many times ive sat on parra station with a < 2yo waiting for the 22:43.  Personally we never leave early, but I'm not going to have a go at someone who does as I have no idea of their personal circumstance.
Fine this excuses 10-20 of those leaving, but what about the hundreds who don't have these excuses or have actual reasons for leaving. My point was, there are those that have reasonable reasons for leaving early but in the majority of these circumstances staying an extra 10 minutes isn't going to make or break these people's lives or plans.

you are right, and i'll reiterate, i'm in the group who stays, most times, well past the final whistle to support the players and the 6YO loves trying to get a high 5.

however, people have said that they publically hang **** on others for leaving, essentially shaming them and saying they should hand in their memberships, I'd like to know how they choose which are the ones with genuine reasons and which are not. the self righteousness of some to bag out others is astounding at times. Ifs its a biggest dick contest on who is the hardest fan then fine, they win, here, have a black polo shirt.  :ninja:

in the meantime, ill be concentrating my efforts towards the field, oh and beer prices.

    Love that comment.
