Del Piero Wins Derby For Sydney

Anyway, back to the game. WesternPlains stop trolling.

Are you guys saying it was a dive being serious? Are you honestly convinved Del Piero dived simply because he is Italian??

 

You see that makes you guys 2 things, racist and biased

 

To not be able to accept that he was clearly tripped makes you look like a bunch of idiots "oh but but minimal contact he went down so easily" HAHA no Del Piero is taking on 3 guys and Mooys leg went no where near the ball, it went infront of Del Pieros leg tripping him while he is moving. You see most people making that movement will fall over when there is contact, it's natural, it's a penalty.

 

Some of the comments claiming that he dived, calling him and embarassment, to even suggest that there was no contact at all :/ it just makes YOU look like the embarassments of the league by being stupidly biased and also racist. It seems the only ones who think it was a dive for some stupid reason are West Sydney fans and Italy haters, all the neutrals never even had to think whether it was a dive or not.

 

After the good work by the RBB and the crowd, seriously, don't ruin it by being dumb ****s, grow up and be men because the rest of the league (no, not just Sydney fans, the rest of the actual league) are laughing at you guys for whinging like a bunch of bitches for the penalty which was 100% correct, not second thoughts from other fans at all.

 

Blame Mooy for the penalty. It was stupid of him to stick out the leg when Del Piero turned his back to goal.

There was a contact, that's true. its a 50-50 situation can go either way. But lets look at the Grand final Perth Brisbane, WSW Adelaide last week, and WSW Sydney this week. 3 soft penalties. Not to mention that Brisbane's was nowhere near a penalty. We want this league to grow be something like EPL. Now if you look at the refereing in EPL none of the 3 would have been penalties. Thats why everyone is complaining. And to be honest, penalty last night was the same as 2006 WC Aus-Italy. The Italians made most of the situation and so did Del Piero last night.

Just don't feed the trolls. Simple. It really doesn't take a genius to work out. Mack + Turner can ban/block him however they see fit.

Edit: It was a Pen, always will be at this point in the league. The ref see's that once, not on video replay. What I ask is would you be complaining if Ono had done the exact same thing, with the exact same result?

Don't disagree with that (any decent troll would use a throwaway though), was only talking about IP address which will probably get you an ISP and not much else - for your fellow moderator to imply that "IT Training" allows them to do some sort of IP tracking that would result in anything that was meaningful was just amusing.

A comment on the match as to not be totally off topic - it was an entertaining enough game, both teams have issues though and both are in trouble if they cannot be solved reasonably quickly. SFC were still defensively suspect, still too many turnovers and Lovrek isn't working in this system. WSW obviously have a solid central backline and some great talent in the midfield but it doesn't count for much if the forward players cannot be more clinical with their finishing.

Well Yes and No. I sympathise alot more with ref's due to knowing the split second they have to make the decision.

I'd accept why the ref made the decision, but i wouldn't necessarily be happy about it.

also the fact that we have so many different cultures involved in the RBB while the cove is about 500 different shades of white, its kinda hard for us to be racist

You should probably undertake some additional training if you think "tracking" his IP address will tell you anything he should be worried about.

I assume he is using his home computer. From there it is very easy to find out some details. As Mack already has.

An IP address can only get you so far...but most people aren't careful enough to completely clean up their.internet trail. I will admit unless he is being blatently oblivious to.such things i am limited in what I can do. An empty threat to say the least.

The question is... had the 'foul' occurred inside the centre circle and a free kick be given would we complain? Probably not. Yes technically it was a penalty, technically it was a foul... however, the fact remains that Del Piero exaggerated contact and therefore, IMO negates the foul.

 

Other than that decision I think Strebe had a fantastic game.

I find it interesting how a banner was the biggest issue which has emerged from the derby. Not hooliganism but a banner. lol

Pretty accurate article really albeit slightly bias. The one thing no one seems to have mentions is Del Pieros constant efforts to referee the game. Every time the whistle was blown he was in the referees face. In Europe he would have been booked for this early on.

Del doesnt get all the credit, our strikers get full credit for being about as useful as me infront of goals

Exactly.

If the foul is there and he makes a genuine effort to continue to play and cannot because of the foul then penalty.

If the foul is there and he goes down to exaggerate the foul itself, then play on.

Unfortunately, most referee's will just not give the foul and forces the player to leave their feet; hence the dive.

It's a sad situation and unless all referee's can agree to be consistent in their application of the interpretation then it will never change. This still would not alleviate the cultural mentality towards diving/conning the referee, that is seen in some European and South American leagues.

At the end of the day football luck swings and round-a-bouts. At some point we are going to get a decision to go our way when it probably shouldn't. The game is over and everyone should just focus the attention to beating the Roar next weekend

That's how it seems to have played out. Probably pretty far from the truth in both cases. But it seems the banter will go on for some time to come. Rothfield seems to be enjoying the A-League, praising the atmosphere.

One thing that football will always have over the other codes is the atmosphere and the fact that the RBB is constantly getting mentioned in the media since day one is testament to the fantastic job we're doing, and it's only the second ever home game! (and to be fair we were going off in Adelaide too )

The Cove had the numbers on us and were louder when they all actually sang - for about 2 minutes at the beginning and when they scored - but we definitely had them beat otherwise.

And we all have to remember, this is our second ever home game, and they've been around for 8 years!!!
