The Wanderers eased into the next round of the FFA Cup with a 2-0 win against Palm Beach.
The only surprise of the match was a first half eruption of the Robina Stadium sprinkler system, as the Wanderers achieved a measure of redemption for their shock first round loss in the inaugural edition of the FFA Cup last season.
Sprinkler aside, the match progressed as to plan, the one time Asian Champions taking full control over the NPL Queensland outfit and on the half-hour Jaushua Sotirio took on his marker, cutting to the byline before hitting a superb cross. Left unmarked at the back post by the Palm Beach defence, midfielder Dimas Delgado couldn't miss with the point blank header to open the scoring.
5 minutes from full time Brendan Hamill scored his first goal for the Wanderers. The end result of a goal mouth scramble, Hamill put his boot through a snapshot on the edge of the area and it beat the Palm Beach keeper.
One dour point was a groin injury to Mark Bridge, although reports suggest it wasn't a particularly serious injury. The draw took place immediately and saw the Wanderers booked to play away to disgraced salary cap cheats Perth Glory. The other fixtures are Melbourne Victory vs Adelaide United, Hume City vs Oakleigh Cannons, and Heidelberg United vs Melbourne City.
