A tense FFA Cup Round of 32 clash between the Brisbane Roar & Western Sydney Wanderers was decided by a solitary goal to injury ravaged winger Gol Gol Mebrahtu.
The 69th minute strike was well deserved for Mebrahtu who was arguably the best on the pitch throughout the contest. Numerous players were making their competitive debuts for the Wanderers, but it was Romeo Castelen who turned the game around with his introduction before his touch put Mebrahtu in on goal.
The flying winger made no mistake, with a calmly placed shot that completely beat Jamie Young. Brisbane had little impact in the second half, their best chances coming from free kicks awarded by the as usual, overzealous refereeing of Kris Griffiths-Jones.
The Roar managed to put the ball in the back of the net once, but the final touch was from an offside player and it was correctly ruled out.
Draw for the Round of 16 will take place tomorrow, at 4pm on Wednesday the 12th, with the full list of winners being: Adelaide United, Melbourne City, Melbourne Victory, Sydney FC, Western Sydney Wanderers, Perth Glory, Wellington Phoenix, along with National Premier League teams Rockdale, Sydney Olympic, Sydney United, Lions FC, Palm Beach, MetroStars, Heidelberg, Hume City & Oakleigh Cannons.
