The Western Sydney Wanderers can count themselves unlucky to have not come away with all three points in their Asian Champions League group stage match against FC Seoul.
The Wanderers dominated the match and restricted the hosts to a handful of real opportunities. Labinot Haliti & Kerem Bulut had the best chances of the game for the Wanderers but neither could apply the required finish. Haliti hitting the crossbar, while Bulut couldn't manage to round the goalkeeper.
The draw leaves the Wanderers in 2nd place on 4 points, equal with their opponents FC Seoul, both 5 points adrift of powerhouse Guangzhou. The next round is shaping as the key matchday for the group. With the four teams backing up for the return legs from tonight's fixtures, Guangzhou will be expecting to seal progression to the knockout stages by defeating Kashima Antlers. The Antlers could be the first team out of contention should they lose as expected and either the Wanderers or FC Seoul win in Parramatta on the 7th of April.
The Wanderers next match is against the Newcastle Jets at Parramatta Stadium on Saturday the 21st of March, kickoff at 5pm.
