    Sydney Derby Postponed

    mack

The Sydney Derby that was scheduled to be played tonight have been postponed due to torrential rain in Sydney.

After several days of intense rain, officials from the clubs, broadcasters and venue staff inspected the surface of the pitch this morning and a decision was made to cancel the game and reschedule it for an unknown future date.

Both the playing surface and conditions for spectators would have been treacherous, and with heavy rain and potentially lightning forecast for the afternoon & evening the decision was so easily foreseen it really should have been made last night.

The Wanderers next match is against the Newcastle Jets, at Parramatta on Saturday February 15, kick-off at 7:30PM.

You'll be lucky to get Ticketek to even acknowledge the game didn't occur

    Dear ticket holder,

Tonight’s #SydneyDerby has been postponed due to an unplayable pitch following the extreme weather experienced in Sydney over the last 36 hours, and further torrential rain forecast right throughout Saturday.

A morning pitch inspection conducted by match officials, representatives from the FFA, Netstrata Jubilee Stadium and Sydney FC concluded the pitch unplayable and the decision was made to postpone the match.

Sydney FC Chief Executive Officer Danny Townsend said: “Obviously we are disappointed to have to postpone the game, but the safety of the players is paramount and the pitch was in no state to host the game due to the amount of rain we have had.

Discussions will take place between Sydney FC, Western Sydney Wanderers and Football Federation Australia and other stakeholders regarding a re-arranged date for the game.

Ticket purchasers are advised to hold onto their tickets and Sydney FC will be in touch in due course regarding ticket details once the rescheduled fixture is announced.

    Yeah, good luck with that.

They're presuming you want to go to the rescheduled match. I'd be demanding my money back. Thank goodness I had something on last Saturday and couldn't go otherwise I'd be blowing up deluxe. F@#$ waiting for SFC to contact you.

Don’t expect Sydney to do anything that is beneficial or reasonable. It was them who decided to make away bay tickets pick up only. Completely waste of time.

play it as a double header

take WSW and SFC squads of senior players and NYL players

mix them to form two teams

play two matches one after the after

Look, I think the only reasonable outcome is to mark the game as played and just give us the 3 points.

Test cricket rules. If the series is drawn the previous winners retain the trophy.

god knows the fixture pile up we dealt with when we went to club World Cup

They dont want a late kick off in the dark at Kogarah for this one...

4.30 or 5 kick off preferred ...meaning weekend.

Debate about which weekend and what to shift.

Are you sure that is what it’s about? I think it has more to do with crowds less likely & ratings not going to be great. The AL needs all the wins it can get
